Hoi An was an incredible experience and it was fun capturing the raw experience visiting Hoi An! We're always looking forward to learning more things about Hoi An! Although there were highlights and lowlights, eating Central Vietnamese Mi Quang noodles, doing a day trip to My Son Ruins, and going on a lantern boat on the Thu Bon River were the best experiences in Hoi An! Let us know if you've ever been to Hoi An when you were in Vietnam and if you agree with these points about visiting Hoi An!

David Photographing in Hoi An, Vietnam 2015
Short video clip of David Lazar working with Rehahn in Vietnam.
From David Lazar - Here is a short behind-the-scenes video showing me photographing a beautiful old couple in Vietnam. This video and photo was taken on a LuminousJourneys.net research trip for our Vietnam photo tours in January and June. The tour in June has availabilities and you can read more about it here:
When photographing people, I always consider the light, background and their positioning/posture. I asked this couple to squat down and slightly face each other in front of their crops, so I could fill the background with a consistent green colour that is also representative of their farming lives. To complete the vision of this photo I had in my mind, I gave them some direction which helped to convey more strongly their emotions in a single frame. Thanks to Réhahn Photography for his help and Vietnamese skills!

HOI AN TAILOR EXPERIENCE | VIETNAM TRAVEL VLOG (2019)
If you go to Hoi An, getting tailor made clothing is a must do. There are so many different tailor shops you can visit while in Hoi An. In this vlog i visit Mrs. Yung’s tailor shop. She has a great tailor shop, making anything you would like, from dresses to suits, bikinis, shirts, trousers and almost anything you would like she can make it for you.
The process is quite simple. Bring in a photo or an idea of what you would like. Then she measures you, you choose the fabrics and your good to go. I waited 2 days for my clothing to be made. Once i arrived back at her store she did some quick retouches to my liking and it was that easy.
Mrs. Yung also offers the opportunity to get clothing delivered to you. All you have to do is email or whatsapp her. She keeps all your measurements, so once you fly back home if you wanted anything else she can send this to you. And of course you would pay the extra for postage.
If you are visiting Hoi an and want to try out Mrs. Yung’s tailor shop her address is:
Chan Troi Skyline, Custom Tailor, 33 Hoang Dieu street, Hoi An city

About me:
Hi my name is Lana,
I come from the north of New Zealand.
I made the decision to quit my job as a nurse and go traveling. I enjoy slow travel and spending more time in each city to get a feel for the culture and how the locals truly live. Traveling can be hard when you don't have the information you need, especially as a tourist, the prices of things are usually heightened. My vlogs will show you how you too can travel cheaply, less touristy and how to travel full time.
My aim is to show you the realness of traveling, and to give you the information that you need as a traveller.
So I hope you can follow me on my journey to see this lovely world of ours!

Chợ Hội An: Hoi An Central Market and New Market in the Old Town of Hoi An, Vietnam
This travel video showcases the bustling Hoi An Central Market (Chợ Hội An) during its frantic pace early in the morning in the Old Town quarter section of Hoi An, Vietnam. When it comes to visiting local markets I've often found the best time to wander around is early in the morning. Sauntering out of our guesthouse at 6:30 AM we decided to visit Central Market - a short 15 minute walk away from where we were staying. Upon arriving we noticed a sea of local ladies adorning conical hats frantically moving about. The market reminded me a lot of the ones I visited while traveling in China two years ago - especially from Dali and Lijiang.

This local market is filled to the brim with small outdoor stalls selling everything from fresh produce to fish. There are also more touristy items available for purchase; however, unlike the central market in Siem Reap, it is still mostly catered towards locals.
It's a travel photographer's dream given that one could literally just stand there are fire away. For a while I had felt as though I was in a bit of a photography funk not having taken or posting photos in a while. Coming to this market and shooting away to my heart's content was exactly what I needed to revive my stagnant creative juices.
In the covered section of the market, one can find a collection of local eateries selling delectable local dishes, such as Cao Lau and White Rose. Eating local dishes from the market is a lot cheaper than going to a proper restaurant. For those on a budget or interested in rubbing elbows with locals, this is certainly the way to go.
As always, we recommend coming early before tourists converge. We were the only visibly noticeable foreigners for the first 30 minutes of our wanderings:

Da Nang and Hoi An Travel Guide in Vietnam!!!
Thành Phố Hội An
Wondering what to do in Da Nang and Hoi An , Vietnam? How to get around and enjoy the best viewpoints, sites, hotspots, and secrets there? You have found the right video!!!
After our visit to Da Nang; a clean, modern, and laid-back city, bordered by a long white sand beach called My Khe. The beach front is lined with top-notch resorts, restaurants, and quirky shops; the city night filled with lights and beaming with life, and even just outside the city, amazing nature and serene views we have selected some of our favorite places for you to explore. So without further ado:
1. Marble mountains. Just south of Da Nang and accessed by two cylindrical glass elevators lies a natural masterpiece. Marble and limestone rock formations bulge out of the ground and reach for the skies. Atop this natural marvel is a pilgrimage site for Buddhists, with temples, pagodas, and sacred caves. Having 3 distinct peaks, serve as amazing viewpoints of the mountains to the south and the city of Da Nang to the North as well as breathtaking views of My Khe Beach to the East.
2. Dragon Bridge One of the most unique bridges in Da Nang and the whole of Vietnam. It is constructed in the shape of a dragon and a shining display of lights during the night makes your visit worthwhile.
3. Son Tra Mountain. Largely covered with thick forest, Son Tra Peninsula is full of Beaches and spectacular views. Sightseeing, nature walks, wildlife sightings, eating and drinking in Vietnamese style are on the top of the list.
4. Lady Buddha and Linh Ung Pagoda. Being the tallest Buddha statue in Vietnam at an astounding 194 feet, Lady Buddha is located near Linh Ung Pagoda on the Son Tra Peninsula in Da Nang, a short 5 miles away from My Khe beach, or 9 miles from Da Nang city center.
5. Beaches. The best beaches in Da Nang are known for their clean waters and sands. The more popular ones, such as My Khe and Non Nuoc are relatively close to the city centre. Less than 10 minutes away by car, they’re often packed with locals during weekends and public holidays. You can also find plenty of local restaurants serving fresh seafood and Da Nang specialities at affordable prices. Lounges and beach chairs are available for rent for about VND 40,000 per day ($1.74 USD).
Hoi An has quickly become one of the most loved tourist sight in the country. This place doesn't have any airport or any railway network and the only way to reach it is by taxi, motorbike, or the public (Yellow) bus. However, this is one of the most beautiful as well as the most pleasant locations you will ever find. Here’s our top 6 things to do in Hoi An:
1. Walk around Hoi An Old town
2. Explore the central market in the heart of the city and go SHOPPING!!!
3. Visit the Japanese Covered Bridge
4. Try the mysterious street food
5. Visit the many historical temples
6. Walk around at night and enjoy colorful lantern
Catch a ride on one of the many river gondolas
Discover the amazing artwork including photography, painting and handmade crafts in the artist district

HOW TO SPEND A DAY IN HOI AN! Prettiest town of Vietnam
Hoi An is one of my favorite towns in the world. I fell in love with it when I first came to Vietnam two years ago and from that moment on I knew I would have kept coming back.
In this video I show you some of my favorite places in Hoi An!
Starting from the Market, a great place to go very early in the morning, the food is incredibly fresh and breakfast is something from another world! If (like me) you are not a morning person don't worry you can still get some amazing food at the Central Market. If you want to follow Anthony bourdain footstep you can go have the best banh miin town at Banh Mi Phuong.
The Ancient Town—a UNESCO World Heritage site—is gorgeous. The 15th century bulilding weren't damaged during the war and are incredibly well preserved. There are cute stores and coffee shops, great restaurants (though i prefer eating at the market or in more local places) and lanterns are omnipresent. There is one catch though...the place it's insanely touristy and it can get pretty r overwhelming
But don't worry, 5 minutes outside town there's Cam Than, an area filled of rice fields and water buffalos...pack your bags, Hoi An is waiting for ya!
While I was in Hoi An I stayed at The Riverside Hamlet Villa, it's a beautiful villa by the river. What made my stay special wasn’t just the place itself it was Kiet (the owner) and his family, I think they are among the nicest people I’ve ever met, they made me feel at home from the very first minute, I ate many (incredible) meals with them and had amazing conversations about life in front of a cup of coffee with Kiet so if you are planning a visit to Hoi An definitely check this place out!
(i genuinely love them and the villa I'm not just advertising ;) )
