The most INSANE experience in Tokyo | Mario Kart
Mario Kart, an absolute must do when in Tokyo! Too bad it was raining pretty badly and our route had to be shorten to prevent accidents.
Tried the famous legendary ox tongue at Sumibi Yakiniku Nakahara and the experience was a mixed reaction, full detailed review is out on my blog post here:
Typhoon Trami (forecasted to be the second strongest typhoon in Japan) was coming on our way and was a close call to fly out of Tokyo back to Melbourne.
This is the last episode in the Hokkaido and Tokyo 2018 vlog series. Next, I will be heading to Buenos Aires!

Jun Igarashi uses broad roof to equip Hokkaido house for snowy winters
Jun Igarashi Architects found a work-around in Japanese building code to create this house on Hokkaido's southwest coast, which features a larger than average roof to protect a pair of patios from snowfall.Winters in Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island, are renowned for their snowfall.Snow-sports enthusiasts from around the world flock to experience the waist-deep powder that typically blankets the mountains, blown in on winds from Siberia crossing the Sea of Japan. But for residents, the snow can pose a problem. Snowfall gives various restrictions to our life, explained Hokkaido-based architect Jun Igarashi, who designed the home named Roof and Rectangular House for a client in the port city of Tomakomai. The most serious of them is cleaning snow. Houses are often built mainly in residential areas. That means that the building coverage ratio is low. Therefore, the size of the roof becomes smaller.Building-coverage ratio rules in Japan stipulate that the footprint of the building has to be proportional to the size of the land it sits upon.Igarishi thinks that these building codes should be abolished as small roofs leave little overhang to protect outdoor areas from snow.Life in snowy land is dramatically improved by doing away with rather than easing of the building coverage ratio, he said.To demonstrate his theory, he worked with the current restrictions to create a home that is both practical in a snowy climate but enjoyable to live in.The large roof maximises the built upon space available under the building-coverage ratio, with a smaller, compact one-room dwelling space below it.This timber-framed structure is clad in a combination of weatherboards and corrugated metal sheets.Between the interior space and the outdoor space there is a rectangle under the large roof, explained Igarashi.Although this space is treated as an indoor in the building code, physically it can be said that both outdoor and indoor, semi-indoor and semi-outdoor.The overhang design means two outdoor spaces will remain protected from winter snow cover and sheltered from cold winds, allowing for year-round enjoyment. The rectangle under the roof responds to the pleasure of life both summer and winter. And it will connect life with the city and the earth space. It is also an attempt [at the] possibility of an intermediate area, said Igarashi.Practically, the occupants can park their car in the smaller sheltered terrace at one side of the building.Large windows also open out on to this space from both floors of the house, where residents can perch to observe the outside without having to leave the warmth indoors. The larger terrace includes sheds for storing tools and bicycles and a large terraced space, accessible via doors in the living area, for sitting outdoors while remaining sheltered from the elements. The dwelling space itself is arranged around an open-plan living and dining area, and a sunken kitchen.Like the home Igarashi designed for a family in Sapporo, the interior features a combination of exposed timber surfaces and white-painted metal.Codes stipulate that foundations must be built below the frost line, so by lowering the kitchen area into this space there is enough ceiling height above it for a gallery. This runs along the length of the building leading to a mezzanine study overlooking the double-height living space. The code primarily corresponds to performance, not to pleasure, Igarashi said. Some people think it is natural, but I think that it is natural to think that its criterions [should be] for the purpose of people's pleasure.Stripped-back holiday chalet by Florian Busch is set at the foot of Mount Yōtei in Japan.

GLORIOUS Japanese STREET FOOD Tour of Kuromon Market | Osaka, Japan
In January of 2019, I was hired to do a four-day job in Japan, but I knew I wanted to see more of the country, so I extended my trip to twelve days. I’m so glad I did, because in those twelve days, I got to visit incredible historical and cultural sites, natural wonders, observation decks with stunning views, and much more. And I had the pleasure of meeting some awesome people and eating some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life! Come along with me as I explore Japan!

On the afternoon of my first full day in Osaka, I wanted to get a taste of the city’s street food scene, so I headed out on an amazing tour with the wonderful people at Magical Tours! They offer lots of different types of tours in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima, and employ locals to lead them, making for a fun and immersive experience. I couldn’t wait try some outstanding Japanese street food!
My Film Making Kit ►
First, I met up with my Magical Trip guide, Yaeko, and the rest of our tour group at 11 a.m. in the Amza area of Osaka. From there, we walked to Kuromon Market, which has been around for roughly 200 years!
The first thing we went for was takoyaki, a type of fritter ball with pieces of octopus meat inside. At 500 Yen/$4.49 U.S. for eight pieces, it’s inexpensive! We got two orders, each of which was covered in two types of sauce and bonito flakes. They’re served steaming hot, so open them up and wait a bit so you don’t burn your tongue. They’re so chewy and delicious, though, sometimes it’s hard to wait!
The octopus is wonderful, and the inside of the fritter is almost like a bechamel sauce. The bonito flakes add a bit of texture. They were a little spicy and so yummy, and sweet as well as savory!
On our way through the market, we saw some succulent-looking sushi, some giant crab legs that were being charred with a blowtorch, and even some gigantic live eels!
Next were mochis and strawberries. The strawberries were super sweet and out of this world! The white and red one I had was phenomenal! The matcha mochi we then tried was bite-size and absolutely fantastic, and we had another with a sauce on it, which was incredibly sweet, but also so good!
Next was oden, or Japanese hotpot. Unlike Chinese hotpot, Japanese hotpot isn’t spicy. This kind had deep-fried tofu, fish cakes, konjac, tofu skin, and more. The tofu skin was amazing, and there was a thicker one with vegetables that was also really good. The fish cake was like a mix of tofu and fish and the konjac was dense and slimy. It wasn’t my favorite, but I loved the rest!
Next, we had tako tamago, or small, skewered grilled octopus stuffed with a quail egg. It was marinated in a slightly sweet sauce, was cooked perfectly, and had a wonderful texture. We followed that with grilled scallops in a soy butter sauce. It was like butter! The sauce was so phenomenal we had to drink it right out of the shell!
Then we shared some tempura eel. It was crispy and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the eel tasted more like fish. It was so good!
From there, we walked to a commercial area where you can buy utensils, souvenirs, pans for making takoyaki, dumpling steamers, and more! I bought some chopsticks for my daughters and for everyone in my family.
Wow, what an incredible street food tour of Kuromon Market! This Magical Trip walking food tour was such a fantastic way to try some of Osaka’s best street food with an amazing local guide. I have to thank Yaeko and Magical Tours for such an incredible afternoon.
I hope you enjoyed my Kuromon Market food walking tour with Magical Trip in Osaka! If you did, please give the video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. Also, please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already and I will see you in the next travel food adventure!

I went to Japan this summer! It was an amazing experience and had a blast! I'll be updating pics and info about my trip really soon :)
Explore Sendai Japan in One Day
It's my first time in Sendai Japan and we set out to explore the city. Sendai is the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, and the largest city in the Tōhoku region. We set out to Shintera for brunch at a ramen shop that serves basically one kind of ramen bowl. We proceed to order at a machine by the door and provided the tickets to the kitchen staff. It's so delicious. Next stop is shopping. Japan has many cute cloths for women and men alike. To take full advantage of our first day, we went to the Sendai City Museum to learn about the history of the city and see the remaining of Sendai castle, at the first enclosure.

Sendai Loople Bus Tour | Japan 2016 | Episode 13 Pt 1
We woke up to find the rain we expected, but that didn't dampen our excitement to get out and explore Sendai. Luckily, the rain cleared by the time we finished breakfast and started to head out for the day.
Sendai has an amazing setup for tourists, getting around to all the major sights is a breeze thanks to what they call the Loople Bus, a sightseeing bus which follows the same loop all day. The bus terminal where you can purchase the Loople Bus pass is located below the pedestrian deck out front of Sendai Station, a Google map link is below.
We started our tour at Kyogamine Hill where to found the Zuiho-ji Temple and the primary reason we came to this spot, Zuihōden Mausoleum where rests the remains of Date Masamune, the first feudal lord of Japan. We were taken aback how peaceful it was wandering around the sights as it was only a 10 minute bus ride from the centre of Sendai.
Next up was a visit to the Sendai City Museum where you’ll get a peak into the early years at Sendai, and gain a better appreciation for Date Masamune. There are lots of old maps on display showing the progress of Sendai over the centuries. There is also a few spectacular samurai armours on display including the famous one of Date Masamune, crescent moon helmet and all.
By the end of part 1 we were making our way up the hill to the city of the Sendai Castle. Stay tuned to part 2 for fantastic views of Sendai and another peaceful temple in the middle of the city.
