See why The Vale Niseko won World’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel three years in a row.
The Vale Niseko set the standard for premium ski-in/ski-out accommodation in Niseko. It doesn’t get any better than waking up in the morning to a hot breakfast, grabbing your skis or board from the locker room, and stepping out onto the ski slope and the first lift. Actually, it does get better – when you’ve finished skiing the world’s best soft powder snow and you come back to The Vale Niseko, complete with restaurant, bars and private or public onsen hot spring baths to soothe your aching muscles. Niseko Onsen Sale
You gotta love it when technology takes a jump that is uplifting. Literally so, in the case of the mini drone helicopters, which give you an entirely new perspective of wild spaces and also building sites. A few years ago Taiga Real Estate brokered the sale of an onsen hot spring in Niseko ( which sits in the middle of some stunning scenery. At the end of the road, totally private (you cannot see a single neighbour), on top of a cliff above a wild mountain creek, looking up into the backbowls of Annupuri, and also across the value to Mt. Yotei. However, even with a 360 degree panoramic photo, I felt that the pictures did not do justice to this land. Fortunately Glen Claydon of 360Niseko ( came to the rescue, and for the first time a viewer can get a sense of the breathtaking beauty of the onsen's topography.
Aspect Niseko - Middle Hirafu, Niseko
Aspect Niseko combines quality, space and views in these magnificent holiday apartments.
Aspect Niseko opened in winter 2016/17 offering some of the most luxurious, spacious apartments available in Niseko to date. The apartment is built atop a small cliff that separates middle and lower village. In this prime position it looks over the chalets and boutique apartment buildings of the Lower Hirafu Village towards a stunning view of Mt Yotei – one of the best in Niseko. In fact, this location is dubbed “Millionaire’s Row” because of all the multi-million dollar chalets and apartments built here – it is one of the most sought-after locations in Niseko.

Getting Around Niseko - Niseko Travel Guide
There are basically three options for getting around Niseko: shuttle bus, taxi and rental car.
If you're staying in Hirafu pretty much everything you need is within walking distance, but there are also free village shuttle buses. If you would like groceries or to head out of town at night, you might want to take a taxi. And if you're thinking ultra-mobility think about hiring a car.
1) RENTAL CAR
Renting a car is a great way to explore Niseko and surrounding areas. You just have to be ready to negotiate the snowy, icy roads.
Most importantly, you must have an international drivers permit in order to be able to rent a vehicle. There are several operators in Hirafu that provide this service.
2) SHUTTLE BUS
Shuttle buses connect the resorts and different areas of Niseko, including nearby Kutchan Town.
Some are free but most are included with in the cost of lift passes.
3) TAXI
Taxis are readily available, particularly in Hirafu and Niseko Village, and can be hailed on major streets.
Taxis cost around JPY Y2,500 for a 10-minute trip.
Drivers probably won't speak English and you'll need a business or place name and a map for where you are going.
Stay just one night in a villa and you'll never stay in a hotel again
Japan Travel: Snow and More in Niseko, Hokkaido 02 Moopon
Japan Travel: Snow and More in Niseko, Hokkaido 02 Moopon
Niseko, located in the Shiribeshi Subprefecture of Hokkaido, is the most famous ski resort in Japan. Niseko has tons of light powder snow, a large terrace for ski/snowboard courses as well as the option of off trail skiing. Adventurous skiers/snowboarders can explore the backcountry through special gates set up around the resorts or by guided tours, including helicopter tours. For example, the nearly perfect volcanic cone of Mount Yotei’s peak is accessible via helicopter to ski/snowboard down.
Niseko’s resorts are popular among both Japanese and foreign winter sport enthusiasts. A large number of foreigners, especially from Australia have made this resort area quite popular for visitors outside Japan. As a result, Niseko’s resorts are very foreign friendly and offer their guests a variety of long ski runs as well as after ski activity.
The ski resorts are all located on Mount Niseko-Annupuri. There are three major resorts, Grand Hirafu, Niseko Village and Annupuri. They are located on the southeastern half of the mountain with the three resorts being connected at the top. Visitors have the option of purchasing a special combination ticket, the Niseko All Mountain Pass, for 5600 yen to use the three resorts freely. There are shuttle buses at the base of the mountains to transport skiers between the resorts.
Grand Hirafu is the largest of the resorts. The resort has with over a dozen lifts as well as a secondary base at Hanazono on the east side of the mountain. Grand Hirafu is located within Hirafu, a sizeable town. Compared to the other two resorts, Grand Hirafu is the only Niseko resort located within town which has many hotels, holiday homes, and boarding houses. Hirafu has a variety of restaurants and bars for visitors to enjoy. With many foreigners visiting Hirafu, many restaurants have an English menu.
Visitors may wish to visit Kutchan, located 15 minutes by bus away from Hirafu. It is the biggest city in the area. Therefore, there are more shopping and dining opportunities in Kutchan. However, it is not as convenient for skiers/snowboarders as Hirafu is.
Located west of Grand Hirafu is the next largest resort, Niseko Village (formerly known as Higashiyama). There are 2 hotels located at the base of Niseko Village. There are a variety of restaurants and bars in the hotels as well as “after ski” activities, such as an onsen (hot spring). However, currently there are few dining options outside of the hotels. But there are plans to develop a new resort town to make Niseko Village more attractive to its visitors.
Further west is Annupuri Resort. The ski trails at Annupuri are neither as steep nor wide as the other two resorts. However, the courses are also not as crowded here. At the base of Annupuri Resort is a resort hotel as well as a small collection of boarding houses and holiday homes. Dining options are scarce and there is little to no nightlife.
A smaller, fourth ski resort in this area is Moiwa. Moiwa Resort is not included in the Niseko All Mountain Pass nor is it possible to ski from Miwa to the other resorts. However, the resort is not crowded and is popular for beginners and those who prefer a smaller sized resort. There are a few hotels as well as boarding houses near the base of this resort.
