Holding Baby Twin Pandas - Chengdu, China
Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
Jessetters are at it again... Holding adorable baby panda cubs that is. We were able to hold twin male baby pandas while we were in China.
FORTUNE FLAVOURS PANDA HOLDING & VOLUNTEERING (OCT 2018)
FORTUNE FLAVOURS takes a trip out to the Dujiangyan Panda Base. A conservation centre near Chengdu. I spent the day as a volunteer cleaning out the enclosures, cracking bamboo, feeding the Pandas, making Panda cake and eventually having a quick cuddle.
This is the first time I have travelled completely alone, I knew a few phrases in Mandarin but despite this, I had a fabulous time in China, Chengdu was such a friendly place, I would recommend to anyone wanting a solo dventure.
For those of you who want to take part in this volunteering oportunity I would recommend booking your stay with the Flip Flop Hostel in Chengdu here...
and booking the activity through them via email weeks in advance of your visit.
You need to book in advance to avoid missing the opportunity as the places get booked up quickly.
Please remember to like and subscribe if you find this interesting. I have more videos on the way.

After making a sizeable donation to the Chengdu Panda Preserve and Research Institute, we are allowed to hold an 8 month old panda on our laps. Notice our attire: shoe covers, plastic gloves, hospital gowns to avoid infecting the little nipper. He's kept happy with bamboo shoots. The woman at the beginning of the video is Nickie Delaney from Colorado.

Bob Hawke tries to hold panda cub during China visit (1986) | RetroFocus
In 1986, Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke visited Chengdu Zoo in China’s Sichuan province. The zoo offered to loan Australia two pandas as a contribution to the nation’s 1988 bicentenary celebrations. Mr Hawke and wife Hazel were handed the two squirming cubs for a photo opportunity to end their visit.

“Let’s go” has pretty much been our life’s motto since we met nearly 25 years ago. We met in New York, moved to San Diego together, and married in Lake Tahoe – all within five months. When you know, you know – you know what we mean?
Now, after raising two adventure-seeking boys, we are ready to get out and explore some more. Our children have begun their lives and now it’s time to begin the second-half of ours.
We wanted a challenge and something fun, so we are starting an adventure of a lifetime. We’re calling it #60×60. Our plan is to travel to 60 countries by the time Kim turns 60 (that’s in 6 years by the way).

Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Chengdu, China
Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, or simply Chengdu Panda Base, is a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. Chengdu Panda Base was founded in 1987. It started with 6 giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2008, it had 124 panda births, and the captive panda population has grown to 83. ts stated goal is to be a world-class research facility, conservation education center, and international educational tourism destination.
Chengdu Panda Base has partnered with many organizations in improving ways to conserve giant pandas. For example, its partnership with Zoo Atlanta helped the zoo secure the loan of 2 giant pandas. To date, these 2 giant pandas, Yang Yang and Lun Lun, have produced five off-spring: Mei Lan in 2006, Xi Lan in 2008, Po born on November 3, 2010 and Mei Lun and Mei Huan in 2013.
Spend your morning with the cutest, yet impressive, creatures in China! Visit either the Chengdu Panda Breeding Center or the Dujiangyan Giant Panda Center and take a guided tour of the facility. Tour through the baby and adult panda areas and visit the red panda section to see these small adorable animals -- you’ll even get a chance to hold one!
