III MEF Band tribute to Kesennuma City

Hello, everyone in Kesennuma City and especially Oshima Island.

My name is Chief Warrant Officer Joshua Stone. I am the new director of the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band, located in Okinawa.

I recently had the pleasure to meet some of your fine citizens and children during their visit to Okinawa as part of the Oshima Youth Cultural Exchange Program. We are so proud to have this special relationship with your city, and continue to keep you in our prayers as the Tohoku region recovers from the devastation more than two years ago.

We were hoping to visit your city again to perform in the 62nd Kesennuma Port Festival as we did last year, but we are not able to make it this summer. I do hope to visit your city in the future, meet you all and perform for you in person.

In the meantime, I would like to have some of my band members play for you on this video message.

気仙沼市の皆さん、特に大島の皆さん、こんにちは！

私は、沖縄を拠点にする第三海兵遠征軍の音楽隊の隊長、ジョシュア・ストーン三等兵曹長と申します。

先日、大島との国際交流企画の一環として、気仙沼の素晴らしい市民と子供たちにお会いすることができました。私たちは、気仙沼市との絆、この特別な関係を誇りに思っています。二年余り前の被害から立ち上がった気仙沼市の本当の復興を祈っています。

昨年に続いて第62回の気仙沼港まつりにも参加したかったのですが、今回はあいにく出来ません。将来、気仙沼市を訪問して、皆さんに会い、そして皆さんの前で演奏できるよう心から願っています。

とりあえず、このビデオメッセージを通じて、第三海兵遠征軍の音楽隊の隊員による演奏をお楽しみ頂ければ幸いです。
