Covered Bridges of Madison County - Winterset, Iowa
Madison County, Iowa is home to six covered bridges out of an original 19 such bridges in the county. The area celebrates this heritage with an Annual Covered Bridge Festival.
The county's bridges came to national fame first in the 1992 Robert James Waller best-selling book The Bridges of Madison County, and then later in the 1995 Clint Eastwood-directed movie of the same name.
But that's not Madison County's only Hollywood connection. Western legend John Wayne was born here.

Ep. #227 Clark Tower, Winterset IA
With some friends, we took a tour of Clark Tower in Winterset, Iowa. It's an interesting little place. And the kids (plus Robin) attempted acrobats on the top of it, which probably wasn't the best of ideas... Then we headed to Frostee's - great ice cream, and the sizes run LARGE.
