lunatic asaylum
Mississippi’s first mental institution became a reality when reformer Dorothea Dix rallied support among state lawmakers to fund construction of the $175,000 asylum, completed in 1855.Before the asylum, those suffering from mental illness were chained in jails and even attics, said Luke Lampton, chairman of the state board of health. While the asylum provided a better place for patients, life remained harsh. Of the 1,376 patients admitted between 1855 and 1877, more than one in five died. After the Civil War, the facility expanded to house 300 patients, and the area became known as “Asylum Hill,”
aokigara forest
Called “the perfect place to die,” the Aokigahara forest in Japan has the unfortunate distinction of being the world’s second most popular place to take one’s life. (The first is the Golden Gate Bridge.) Since the 1950s, Japanese businessmen have wandered in, and at least 500 of them haven’t wandered out, at an increasing rate of between 10 and 30 per year. Recently these numbers have increased even more, with a record 78 suicides in 2002. In 2003, that record was beaten with a number of 105 bodies discovered.
island of doll
Mexico’s La Isla de las Munecas, or “Island of the Dolls”, has become an unlikely tourist attraction just south of Mexico City, drawing thousands of tourists and photographers morbidly fascinated by the strange spectacle. But it’s the tragic story behind the island that is perhaps more disturbing, and according to legend, it begins with the tragic death of an anonymous young girl more than 50 years ago. Gallery According to reports, a man named Don Julian Santana left his wife and child one day and moved to an island on Teshuilo Lake in the famous Xochimilco canals to live out his years as a recluse.
screaming tunnel
A dark void, peering into the darkness surrounded by curving stone walls echoing your voice and trapping you in. There’s nothing scarier.Combined with dark history and this tunnel is hard to ignore.Welland Canal St. Catharine’s boat river highway between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie was championed in 1824 by William Hamilton Merritt. The former lord of the haunted Merritt House led the ambitious project before technology. Danger was part of the game. Accidents, suicide, sabotage and foul play have spread dark energy through the Canal. The Merritton Tunnel (Blue Ghost Tunnel) was a strategic passageway meant only as a temporary fix.Maybe this lack of use is to blame. In 1903
Raynham hall
The hall is also famed for its spooky visitors - most notably the ghost of Lady Dorothy, the wife of the second viscount of the estate. No one has proved the picture taken of her is a fake, said Lord Charles Raynham of Raynham Hall. The 17th Century hall, near Fakenham, has been home to the Townshend family for more than 300 years.
Raynham is located near the source of River Wensum, where the river then flows north-easterly towards Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, before dropping south to merge with the River Yare at Trowse, Norwich, approximately 56 miles (90km) later.
Raynham Hall was built by Sir Roger Townshend in 1620, more than 100 years before the foundations of Holkham Hall were laid. Raynham was built in an entirely new style following the Italian form with a more contemporary red brick design.
Further additions were made to the hall in the 1730s when the second Viscount Turnip Townshend employed the skills of William Kent who went on to be one of the architects of Holkham.Kent was responsible for some fine work at Raynham, including the elaborate carved chimney-pieces, the mosaic paintings and decorated doorways.

How long will the world ignore Islam in Europe?
It is not multiculturalism it is State genocide and nothing less.
Our World leaders and powers that be seem to be ignoring the very real and actual threat of encroaching Islam in the UK and Europe today.
All fears and concerns from ordinary people with ordinary views are being put aside under the titles of either 'racist' or non progressive.
We are not only welcoming these people in or rather doing nothing to stop them coming in and prospering but our governments are not looking after us at all in allowing them to take over under the guise of multiculturalism.
It is not multiculturalism it is State genocide and nothing less.
