Planet Hollywood was the idea of Bryan Kestner, a former actor who had some small parts in movies produced by Taft-Barish. [1] After approaching his boss, Keith Barrish, Kestner suggested a theme restaurant modeled after Hard Rock, which would instead feature movie memorabilia. His idea of calling it Cafe Hollyrock was never used; instead, Keith Barrish and Robert Earl came up with the actual name of Planet Hollywood. [2] The similarity of the two restaurants caused a lawsuit in which Hard Rock sued for $1.5 billion. Although not successful, the similarities can be seen. Kestner received minimal shares in the company for his idea, [3] but it was actually Keith Barish, financier, real estate developer and film producer (Sophie’s Choice, The Fugitive, Running Man, Nine ½ weeks, Monster Squad)[1] and Robert Earl, former President and CEO of Hard Rock Cafe who took this idea and developed Planet Hollywood. Kestner's involvement with development of the company was limited to attending grand opening parties, which he was eventually asked to not attend at Earl's prompting. After Planet Hollywood's filing of numerous bankruptcies, Ketsner's shares were worthless and he had to file bankruptcy as well. Still to this day, Kestner receives no money from the restaurant or corporation. Furthermore, it was Earl who recruited many former Hard Rock veterans to open new PH stores. Movie star owners received stock options at rock bottom price in exchange for their endorsement, thus they could be billed as legal owners.
In 1994, Planet Hollywood founded the Official All Star Cafe sports-themed restaurant chain. In April 1996, Planet Hollywood went public. The company's share price reached all-time high of $32 on the first day of trading and went down to less than $1 by 1999. The company has gone bankrupt twice.[4] Nearly 100 locations have closed worldwide, leaving about 8 currently open.[5]
In 1997, Planet Hollywood entered a joint partnership with AMC Theaters to establish and develop Planet Movies by AMC. In 1998, Planet Hollywood entered the ice-cream business when it launched Cool Planet. The business was scrapped later that year. Schwarzenegger severed his financial ties with the business in early 2000.[6] Schwarzenegger said the company had not had the success he had hoped for, claiming he wanted to focus his attention on new U.S. and global business ventures and his movie career.[6]
Marvel Mania opened on February 18, 1998 near Universal Studios Hollywood with Marvel being a co-owner with Universal Studios Hollywood[7] and Planet Hollywood. However, Planet Hollywood had financial problems due to expanding too quickly and had to close it.[8]
Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas had its grand opening the weekend of November 16, 2007, in the remodeled Aladdin Hotel & Casino. Planet Hollywood partnered with Westgate Resorts on the new PH Towers A Westgate Resort, connected to the existing resort, which opened on January 1, 2010. The 52-story luxury vacation ownership and condominium tower included over 1,200 1-4 bedroom units and a four story penthouse of 28 luxury condominiums from 4,000 to 10,000 square feet (370 to 930 m2). The building is a key subject in the documentary film The Queen of Versailles.
The resort and casino were sold in 2010 to Caesars Entertainment, and the separate Towers project was sold to Centerbridge Partners' Resort Finance Associates in 2011.
In September 2008 Buca, Inc., the owner of the Buca di beppo national restaurant chain, was acquired by Planet Hollywood International Inc.

Well last night I knocked over a cup of water and it spilled on my laptop, and now it will not boot up. I hope it can be repaired. They have a business center at the hotel so I will have to find out where it is and how much to use the internet connection. I'll ask after breakfast.
I head down to breakfast since it is included in the hotel rate I booked. There is a short line but it moves quickly. They have a tray out with some pastries and also coffee if you want to snack while you wait. I find there is no need to do so since I waited only about 5 minutes in line. I figured it would be crowded since breakfast ends in 30 minutes. Breakfast is typical European style I've grown fond of in my travels. There are several types of bread, pastries, cold cuts, fruit, and yogurt. Standard fare in most European hotels I have stayed at. Also though, I find a crepe station and there is a section with ramen. I thought that was somewhat odd until I noticed several Japanese travelers who were enjoying it. I liked that the hotel catered to those tastes. Also unlike previous hotels I've stayed at, the yogurt wasn't in large bowls or paper cartons. Each yogurt was in an individual serving size containers made of glass. They had plain yogurt, but also they had yogurt with fruit on the bottom. I choose one and mixed in the granola I found. I really liked the granola because it had chocolate chunks in it. I also had a pastry that was filled with chocolate. I really like chocolate.
After breakfast I ask about the business center and I was told I would need to buy an internet card for access. I cough up the euros for a 30 minute card and head down to the business center. Unlike many places in the states, the center is not in a closed off room. It is just an area with 3 computers and a few printers. I find the Union Jack icon and follow the directions which are now in English. I check my email and find several messages from friends who responded to my email from last night. I respond back to them and send out another quick general email to everyone. I get a little frustrated because the keyboard is set up for French and some of the letters are in different places than they are on a standard English keyboard. Also, you have to shift to enter numbers. Again, I curse my clumsiness. Maybe the laptop will dry out today and start working again.
I head up to my room to grab all my necessities for the day and head out to Gare Montparnasse. I have several different sets of directions for how to get out to Ville Marne where Disneyland Paris is located. I figured the best bet is to ask at a ticket window. I find an information area which turns out to be for the high speed trains and their destinations. However, the woman is very polite and helpful despite what she says is her limited English. She tells me I need to go down a flight and tells me where the ticket windows are for the commuter trains. I thank her and head out. As I am leaving, my airplane seat neighbor walks in with his girlfriend. They seem on a mission, so I head out but I wonder about the odds of running into someone in Paris!
I head downstairs to where I was directed and get in the ticket line. I notice that the one window had a British flag and a sign that says I speak English. As American as I am, who would know that I would love to see that Union Jack as much I have been? I let some folks behind me go ahead so they could use the other windows and it is finally my turn. Again, the man was very helpful. He asks if I plan on returning to the city today and I answer yes. He then gives me a single ticket that will be used for the day so I can go out and return. He then gives me directions for which metro to take, which station to change to, and reminds me that ...

Disneyland Paris is a holiday and recreation resort in Marne-la-Vallée, a new town in the eastern suburbs of Paris, France. The complex is located 32 km (20 mi) from the centre of Paris and lies for the most part within the commune of Chessy, Seine-et-Marne.[1]Disneyland Paris is composed of two theme parks, a retail, dining and entertainment district, and seven Disney-owned hotels. Operating since 12 April 1992, it was the second Disney resort to open outside the United States (following Tokyo Disney Resort) and the first to be owned and operated by Disney.Disneyland Paris is operated by French company Euro Disney S.C.A., a public company of which 39.78 percent of its stock is held by The Walt Disney Company, 10 percent by the Saudi Prince Alwaleed and 50.22 percent by other shareholders. The senior leader at the resort is chairman and CEO Philippe Gas.The complex was a subject of controversy during the periods of negotiation and construction in the late 1980s and early '90s, when a number of prominent French figures voiced their opposition and protests were held by French labour unions and others. A further setback followed the opening of the resort as park attendance, hotel occupancy and revenues fell below projections. The complex was renamed from Euro Disney Resort to Disneyland Paris in 1994. In July 1995, the company saw its first quarterly profit. A second theme park, Walt Disney Studios Park, opened to the public 16 March 2002.With 15,405,000 combined visitors to the resort's Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park in the fiscal year of 2009, it is France's and Europe's most visited tourist site.[2]The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, more commonly known as Tower of Terror, is a drop tower thrill ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios (Florida), Disney California Adventure Park, Tokyo DisneySea and Walt Disney Studios Park (Paris). It is based upon the television show The Twilight Zone. The original version of the attraction opened at Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney's Hollywood Studios) in July 1994; the California Adventure version opened nearly ten years later in May 2004. The Tokyo DisneySea version—named simply Tower of Terror and featuring a modified storyline—opened in September 2006, followed by the Walt Disney Studios Park version in April 2008. The attraction takes place in the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel (itself inspired by the Hollywood Tower, named a historic landmark by the US Department of the Interior). The story of the hotel, adapted from elements of the television series, includes the hotel being struck by lightning on October 31, 1939, mysteriously transporting an elevator cart full of passengers to the Twilight Zone and causing an entire wing of the building to disappear. The exterior of the attraction resembles an old hotel with a blackened scorch mark across the front of the façade where the lightning struck it. All of the cast members wear a costume that resembles that of a 1930s bellhop. At over USD$1000 per uniform, it is the most expensive costume in the various theme parks.[citation needed]At 199 feet (60.7 m), it is the second tallest attraction at the Walt Disney World Resort, shorter only than Expedition Everest's 199.5 feet (60.8 m). The Tower of Terror is 199 feet (60.7 m) high at Walt Disney World because of FAA regulations that require a fixed red light beacon to be added to the top of any 200 feet (61.0 m) or taller building.[2] Imagineers thought that the beacon would take away from the hotel's 1939 theme. At the Disneyland Resort, the 199 feet (60.7 m) structure is the tallest attraction at the resort, as well as one of the tallest buildings in Anaheim.[3] At Disneyland Paris it is the second

Walt Disney Studios Park (French: Parc Walt Disney Studios) is the second of two theme parks built at Disneyland Paris in Marne-la-Vallee, France, opened on March 16, 2002. It is dedicated to show business, themed after movies, production, and behind-the-scenes. In 2016, the park hosted approximately 4.97 million guests, making it the third-most visited amusement park in Europe and the 22nd-most visited in the world, though it has the lowest attendance figures of all twelve Walt Disney parks. Its two sister parks are Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Florida and Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
The park is represented by the Earffel Tower, a water tower similar to one that was installed at the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California.
Initial plans for a second theme park, named Disney-MGM Studios Europe or Disney-MGM Studios Paris, were scheduled to open in 1996, though these plans were cancelled around mid-1992 due to the resort's financial crisis at the time. After the resort began to make a profit, these plans were revived on a much smaller scale. Walt Disney Studios Park opened on March 16, 2002.
In June 2007, a new studio lot opened in the Animation Courtyard area of the park, named Toon Studio. It is themed as a toon backlot, representing the film studio work place of animated characters, where they produce their animated classics, including The Little Mermaid, 101 Dalmatians, and The Jungle Book. The concept has been created exclusively for Walt Disney Studios Park and features two attractions not seen in any other Disney theme park, along with small merchandising locations and many character meet-and-greets. The key attractions in this expansion phase are Crush's Coaster, a custom-designed Maurer Söhne SC 2000 indoor spinning roller coaster, and Cars: Race Rally themed after the 2006 Disney/Pixar film Cars, with the ride taking the form of an enhanced tea cups ride. Similar attractions are found in Mermaid Lagoon at Tokyo DisneySea and A Bug's Land at Disney California Adventure. On December 22, 2007, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror soft-opened with the new Hollywood Boulevard on Production Courtyard. Stitch Live!, imported from Hong Kong Disneyland, replaced the Disney Channel Studio Tour.
In 2009, new attractions and entertainment opened at Walt Disney Studios to run alongside Mickey's Magical Party, which began in April 2009. Playhouse Disney Live On Stage! opened next to Stitch Live! and is presented in French, English and Spanish. Walt Disney Studios opened with a full size parade called 'Disney's Cinema Parade', which was themed after popular Disney animated and live action films. In 2008 the parade was replaced with 'Disney's Stars 'n' Cars', a smaller version of Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade, which came from Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World in Florida. In August 2010, Toy Story Playland opened to coincide with the new Disney·Pixar film Toy Story 3, shrinking guests to the size of a toy, and comprises three attractions, as well as several photo opportunities. The three attractions are a Half pipe coaster named RC Racer, a parachute jump style ride named Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop and a Music Express train named Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin, all themed intricately around the first 2 Toy Story films.

This Vekoma LSM launched looping coaster accelerates from 0-57 mph in 2.8 seconds, making it the fastest coaster in France. Although the track layout is identical to its Orlando counterpart, the theme of the ride is different. Instead of being taken for a ride on the Los Angeles freeways, this version is based around the making of an Aerosmith music video with lighting rigs, projectors, strobes and smoke effects used in place of road signs that exist in the U.S. version.

Disneyland Paris - Walt Disney Studios - Disney Brothers Plaza (2018)
Walt Disney Studios Park (French: Parc Walt Disney Studios) is the second of two theme parks built at Disneyland Paris in Marne-la-Vallée, France, which opened on March 16, 2002. It is dedicated to show business, themed after movies, production, and behind-the-scenes. Disneyland Paris, originally Euro Disney Resort, is an entertainment resort in Marne-la-Vallée, a new town located 32 km (20 mi) east of the centre of Paris, and is the most visited theme park in all of Europe. It is owned by The Walt Disney Company through subsidiary Euro Disney S.C.A. The resort covers 4,800 acres (19 km2)[3] and encompasses two theme parks, many resort hotels, a shopping, dining, and entertainment complex, and a golf course, in addition to several additional recreational and entertainment venues. Disneyland Park is the original theme park of the complex, opening with the resort on 12 April 1992. A second theme park, Walt Disney Studios Park, opened in 2002. The resort is the second Disney park to open outside the United States following the opening of the Tokyo Disney Resort in 1983.
Walt Disney announced a €1 billion ($1.25 billion) bailout plan to rescue its subsidiary Disneyland Paris, the Financial Times reported. The park is burdened by its debt, which is calculated at about €1.75 billion ($2.20 billion) and roughly 15 times its gross average earnings.
Until June 2017, Disney only held a majority stake in the resort, when they bought the remaining shares. In 2017 The Walt Disney Company offered an informal takeover of Euro Disney S.C.A., buying 9% of the company from Kingdom Holding and an open offer of 2 Euro per share for the remaining stock. This brought The Walt Disney Company's total ownership to 85.7%. The Walt Disney company will also invest an additional 1.5 Billion Euro to strengthen the company.
