Holmes Medical Museum in Foley, Alabama
The Holmes Medical Museum is located on the site of the first hospital in Baldwin County, the Sibley Holmes Memorial Hospital, in downtown Foley, Alabama. The hospital served the area from 1936 to 1958, when South Baldwin Regional Medical Center opened in Foley. Both hospital and doctor offices are located on the second floor. Dr. Sibley Holmes and his son, William C. Holmes practiced there. The ground floor of the museum was previously occupied at different times by a grocery store, phone company office, a 5 and 10 cent store and Wright’s Drug Store.
In addition to Sibley Holmes serving as the town doctor and surgeon, he was Foley mayor from 1930 to 1933 and an Alabama state senator in the 1920s. It was Dr Sibley’s dream to have a hospital in Baldwin County. He did not live to see the this happen, but his son and daughter-in-law were able to make it happen.
Dr. William C. Holmes, often referred to as Dr. Buddy, operated the hospital along with his wife, Philomene, who was a nurse. Philomene assisted in all aspects of running the hospital, from delivering babies to taking x-rays and keeping the patients ledgers. Philomene ran the hospital several years during WWII, while the doctor was away at war.

Kentuck Festival of the Arts 2015 - 44th Annual
Location: Northport, Alabama
The Kentuck Festival exists to nurture artistic expression by providing an opportunity for undiscovered and established artists to share and sell their work; to educate the public about the creative efforts of artists; perpetuate traditional crafts, and to add to the cultural climate and quality of life in the community, state, and region. Throughout the years many undiscovered artists who are now in textbooks, galleries and museums have exhibited at Kentuck. The Kentuck Festival of the Arts has been designated a Local Legacy by the U.S. Library of Congress and was recognized on TIME.com as the Authentic American Experience for the state of Alabama. The Festival has been featured in Smithsonian Magazine, voted one of the Top Twenty Events by the Southeast Tourism Society and described by Southern Living magazine as 'the best of all things Southern'.
Hello, my name is Krystal Corley, I currently reside in Alabama and am struggling to get my art career off the ground. I've had a love for art my entire life and just began painting 6 years ago; The second the brush touched the canvas my soul was at peace. From that moment on, I was no longer Krystal, the Waitress. I became Krystal, the Artist. I participated in a local festival in the past and last year I actually got invited to host my very first art show! I have steady business with commissioned paintings and that seems to keep me afloat. However, to attend the 44th annual Kentuck Festival of the Arts, I need to raise funds in order to produce the art! What I'm asking, specifically, is help from my supporters to back me and my vision. If I were able to paint every day from this moment until October 17th, just think of the art I could produce!! Without the commissioned work, I would need help with material cost(s) and your day to day expenses as an artist. If you'd like to be a part of my journey, make a donation! Just go to Every little bit helps. Visit my facebook site at and also Thank you so much!!

A small, fixed-wing plane struck several parked vehicles as it crashed Monday afternoon near Whiteman Airport in Pacoima.
No one on the ground was injured, according to Margaret Stewart, spokeswoman of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The pilot was not injured and declined medical care.
The Mooney M20 plane had just departed from Whiteman Airport, said Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. But for unknown reasons, the pilot tried to return to the airport. He was forced to land at about 1:40 p.m. on San Fernando Road.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve
Weeks Bay is one of only 27 National Estuarine Research Reserves in the country and offers an exceptional opportunity for travelers to enjoy the educational materials of the interpretive center or take to the boardwalks and enjoy the environment firsthand.
Estuaries represent some of the most sensitive and ecologically important habitats on Earth. They provide sanctuary for many species of waterfowl, store nutrients for larval and juvenile marine life, and serve as breeding grounds for many desirable species of ocean fish. As one of the largest estuaries in the country, the Mobile Bay system is the foundation for the environmental beauty and diversity found along Alabama's Coastal Connection.
Graham Creek Nature Preserve
The Preserve along Alabama's Coastal Connection boasts 484 acres of natural habitats, including pitcher plant bogs and mixed forests. It offers a canoe/kayak launch, hiking trails and bird watching.
