His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV was invited to Edessa Reception during his sojourn to Australia by the St. George Parish, Ss. Peter and Paul Parish and Youth Association ~ Sydney, in order for them to provide an update to His Holiness and also receive spiritual guidance from the St. Peter of our times. This event took place on Tuesday the 28th of September.
May 24, 2012 Russia_Putin visits patriarch on Name Day, meets Greek archbishop
Russian President Vladimir Putin gave his best wishes to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill on his Name Day, which coincides with the Day of Slavic Written Language and Culture. As a gift he gave the patriarch the icon of the Ascension.
The Day of Slavic Written Language and Culture honors Saints Kirill (Cyril) and Methodius, the authors of the Slavic alphabet.
President Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill also met with the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Hieronymos.
The head of state thanked the archbishop for making his first visit to Russia on such a special day. He pointed out that especially on such a day it is clear how deep the spiritual roots of the two peoples are.
Archbishop Hieronymos said he would like not only to congratulate the Russian Patriarch on his Name Day, but also to express his satisfaction on Vladimir Putin's election as President of Russia.
