Old church from British period in the middle of Jungle at Abbott mount
This place was discovered by Britisher John Abbott (whose descendants now live in Jhansi) in the pre-independence era and he decided to name the hill after himself. He built 13 cottages here and some of these still survive. Panorama takes a new meaning as you treat yourself to views of peaks like Trishul, Nanda Kot, Nanda Ghunti and the Nanda Devi spanning in an arc in front of you across a valley. This is the place where you just walk around amidst the woods with no traffic or sounds, sip tea with clouds below and watch beautiful sunsets. There is a church built in 1942, locked now, where prayers are supposedly still held once or twice a year. You can even play a game of cricket on what is claimed to be the second highest pitch after Chail in Himachal Pradesh at just under 7,000 feet.

MUMBAI, MATHERAN
MUMBAI..Matheran Hill Station in Maharashtra
If a vacation could be half as fun as the journey to Matheran Hill Station, then it's worth the effort. For Matheran can be reached by a toy train journey, car drives on the whirling roads and a trek through the dense forests to the hilltop where Matheran is located. There are many picturesque panoramic points that you can visit on your tour to Matheran Hill Station in Maharashtra such as the Hart Point that overlooks the Bombay city lights. You can also visit the Porcupine Point, Louise Point, Charlotte Lake, Panther Caves and Paymaster Park...............The deep valley around Matheran can be seen clearly only when you are at the 12 famous view points on the hill top of Matheran. I took this snap when i saw the deep valley view through the dense trees around the red soiled path on the hill. A part of Sahyadri hill, Matheran is 2516 feet in height. The view of deep valley can be easily seen once we reach any of the view points like the famous Echo point. The valley has dense forest and a way for river too.

Gore Ram mandir was built in the year 1782 by Deverao Hingne, lawyer of Madhavrao Peshve. The temple is very beautiful with Ram Panchaytan (Ram, Sita, Laxman, Bharat, Kshatrughna & Hanuman). The temple is maintained by Padmanabhi family.
This temple is situated in the Kalaram temple lane. Unlike Kalaram, Goreram is a much smaller temple and has idols of Lord Ram, Laxman and Sita in fair hue; which is how the temple gets its name.

The Catholic Cathedral of Kohima
The Cathedral is located on Aradura Hill in Kohima. It is one of the biggest cathedrals in North East India. Its splendid architecture makes it one of the important landmarks of Kohima. The unique design created by blending the traditional with the orthodox resulted in an architectural marvel. It is also home to the largest cross that is made of wood in the country. The magnificent crucifix is carved in wood and is 16 ft high, possibly one of the tallest wooden carved crucifixes in Asia. The Stations of the Cross posed in the main entrance is a special beautiful feature. It is the presentation of Jesus' final journey with the cross, the last journey to Calvary. The fourteen stations, pose a real replica to the faithful with its beautiful arrangement on the slope of the hill leading up to the Cathedral.
The Cathedral was inaugurated on the day of the Un's day of settlement. The Cathedral at this part of India has a very pleasant atmosphere for prayer and worship. The Catholic Cathedral in Kohima is a place worth seeing for its ideal blend of indigenous structural design.architectural might and complexity is a surprise. The semicircular building with its modern architectural thinking covers one side of the Araduura hill with every bit of construction planned in detail with no space wasted. Its façade is shaped like a traditional Naga House. A complete structure, including official and residential rooms!
The Cathedral owes its existence to Lt. Rev. Abraham Alnagimattathil, whose brain child this Cathedral is. He was the first bishop of Nagaland and he wanted to provide a place for all to pray and spend time in solitude with the self and the Divine.
The actual work began in 1986 and the dedication and consecration of the church was done in 1991. The lion's share of the three crore financial expense came from Japanese, who wished the church to be a place of prayer especially for the Japanese war victims who laid down their lives for their nation in the Second World War battle fought in Kohima. This is affirmed in the prayer inscribed in English & Japanese script in the Cathedral Campus. ...It is with thankfulness that we heard that Catholic Cathedral was being built at Kohima, where mass would be offered every morning in memory of the fallen...
