Holy Cross Accordion Band Atticall is an Irish Accordion band from County Down in Ireland formed in 1974. They are a non-profit accordion band that performs in competitions and parades all over Ireland. They are from a small village called Atticall near Kilkeel and Newry in County Down.It has a very small population of around 200 people so the sustainability of the band relies on consant fresh blood joining which can be challenging in a predominant Football and Gaa culture area. The band participates in Marching band and Fleadh competitions in Ireland and they have been very successful recently. The band has over 50 members aged six to over forty and is going from strength to strength. Recently in 2014 they celebrated 40 years of existence.

A visit to Holy Cross Dominican Church in Tralee, Co. Kerry

Holy Cross Dominican Church is a Roman Catholic Church belonging to the Dominican religious order. The church is located in the centre of Tralee in County Kerry and the Diocese of Kerry. On 15 August 1866 the Bishop of Kerry, Dr. Moriarty, laid the foundation stone of the new Church. The first Mass was celebrated in the present Holy Cross Church on 14 September 1871, the Feast of the Holy Cross. The Dominican friars first came to Tralee in 1243 when the established an abbey which is long gone.

I visited St. John's Parish in September 2013.

In 1854 the foundation stone of St. John's Church was laid on the site of a chapel dating back to 1780. Some artifacts of the 1780 chapel have survived - the Holy Water font, Our Lady of the Wayside statue, and the gables of the 18th century building, which are contained in the transepts of the present church. The building was completed, in 1861 with the erection of the Great Sanctuary window. In 1870 the tower and spire were added. The height of the spire is 200 feet.
