Can You Hear Me?
Come on Jilly's journey - she is in Kindergarten. She daydreams in class and doesn't pay attention during lessons. She is isolating herself from her friends and her self esteem is low. Jilly has ear-disease, Otitis Media has been affecting her learning development. Thanks to her teacher's, practitioner's and parents' awareness and support, Jilly's hears again.
Ongoing ear disease in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander infants and young children can lead to permanent hearing loss and contributes to social and economic disadvantage.

LYRICS:
Wide awake while the world is sound asleepin'
Too afraid of what might show up while you're dreamin'
Nobody, nobody, nobody sees you
Nobody, nobody, nobody would believe you
Every day you try to pick up all the pieces
All the memories, they somehow never leave you
Nobody, nobody, nobody sees you
Nobody, nobody, nobody would believe you
God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows how it's killing you
But there's a kind of love that God only knows
God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows the real you
There's a kind of love that God only knows
There's a kind of love that
There's a kind of love
You keep a cover over every single secret
So afraid if someone saw them they would leave
But somebody, somebody, somebody sees you
Somebody, somebody will never leave you
God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows how it's killing you
But there's a kind of love that God only knows
God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows the real you
There's a kind of love that God only knows
There's a kind of love that
There's a kind of love
There's a kind of love that
There's a kind of love
For the lonely, for the ashamed
The misunderstood, and the ones to blame
What if we could start over
We could start over
We could start over
Oh for the lonely, for the ashamed
The misunderstood, and the ones to blame
What if we could start over
We could start over
We could start over
'Cause there's a kind of love that God only knows
God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows the real you
But there's a kind of love that God only knows
God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows the real you
There's a kind of love that God only knows
There's a kind of love that
There's a kind of love
There's a kind of love that
There's a kind of love
God only knows where to find you
God only knows how to break through
God only knows the real you
There's a kind of love that God only knows

[Lighting the Way Faith & Learning Awards 2017] Leading Teaching & Learning Award: Judith Tolomeo
Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong
Lighting the Way Faith & Learning Awards
November 2017
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE AWARD - LEADING TEACHER AND LEARNING ....AWARDED TO JUDITH TOLOMEO.
Curriculum Co-ordinator, Mount Carmel Catholic College, Varroville
Mrs Judith Tolomeo is an outstanding practitioner at Mount Carmel Catholic College in the area of Learning and Teaching. Over the past four years, Judith has engendered a culture of excellence by firstly modelling exceptional pedagogy resulting in highly significant learning gains for the students and secondly by challenging Middle Leaders and staff to embrace best practice confidently and competently within the classroom.
Judith has designed and implemented a number of successful initiatives, which have impacted significantly on student learning outcomes. These include the structural composition of classes across the curriculum in Stages 4 & 5, the process of differentiation throughout the college and the design and implementation of quality assessment practices in Stages 4, 5 & 6. These critical educational strategies have resulted in a building of capacity across the college and thus in turn have maximised staff and student outcomes. This empowering of staff has had a far-reaching effect on the college community generally.
