Ireland - Most Beautiful Village - Adare
Adare - Ireland . April 2016 . Music: Kevin MacLeod
Adare - considered the most beautiful village in all Ireland. Its lies on the banks of the River Maigue set in the surrounding forests. The village was built in the 20 years of the 19th century, the Third Earl of Dunraven (1812 - 1871), owner of the estate Adare Manor. The main street lined with neat stone building with thatched roofs and still preserved remains of some religious buildings - e.g. The Church of the Holy Trinity, Franciscan abbey or Augustines. Above the bridge over the river stands the castle from the 13th century Desmond Castle.

Swanwood Travels to Adare Desmond Castle 9.6.18
Day 4 of our Ireland Adventure. We left our lakeside cottage rental on Lough Derg to head to the mountainside of Kenmare. On our way to Kenmare, we stopped at the Adare Demond Castle and it surely didn't disappoint.
We arrived at the visitor center just minutes after the last tour left on the bus. The receptionist phoned the tour guide and asked her to wait for us. We were able to drive through the gates of the castle like royalty and join the tour just a few minutes late.
While it rained through much of the tour, our spirits were lifted by the enthusiasm and knowledge of our tour guide. We learned so much and enjoyed the history of the community. The 500 year old yew trees in the courtyard absolutely took my breath away...a sight to behold!

Rich and Pat Travel The Adare Friary
Adare Franciscan Friary was founded by Thomas, Earl of Kildare in 1464 and most of the building was completed by the end of the century. It was dedicated to St Michael the Archangel. The friary is very badly overgrown and a large tree grows out of the middle of the cloister garth.
