We lovingly refer to the Christian Décor Iconostasis as the R.D.I.. which stands for Portable Orthodox Iconostasis Rapid Deployment Iconostasis. Originally created for the Church which shares its space with other tenants, the R.D.I. is designed so that two people may assemble or take down the entire interlocking unit in less than fifteen minutes. And, without any alteration, the R.D.I is also a beautifully crafted permanent fixture.

Uglic (Russia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Uglic in Russia.
On the upper reaches of the Volga, around two hundred and eighty kilometres north of Moscow, is the Russian town of Uglič. The Dimitrijvskaija Church is crowned with blue, onion-shaped domes that are adorned with stars. It was built in 1692 out of stone and replaced a wooden church. Everywhere are illustrations of the mysterious death of the heir to the throne on the fifteenth of May, 1591. The red colour of the church is a symbol of bloodshed. Ivan the Terrible had two sons. The eldest, Fjodor Ivanovitch, was thought to be insane but was crowned anyway and was supported by Boris Godunov. As Godunov’s sister, Irina, was married to Fjodor Ivanovitch, his dream of becoming Tsar was almost a reality. When news that the eight year old, Zarevitch, had fatally run into a knife while playing, it caused havoc. Three hundred years later the symbol of the Dimitrijevskaija Blood Church was returned to the place in which the savage deed had taken place. Subsequently, the Romanov Dynasty ruled for three centuries and Uglič became a place of sadness and remembrance of one of the most spectacular events in Russian history.

Russian Orthodox Church Bell @ Kizhi
Russia - Orthodox Christians brave an icy dip to mark Epiphany - -
Worshippers across Russia and Eastern Europe have been braving icy waters for Epiphany, one of the most important holidays in the Orthodox Christian calendar.
Celebrated on 19 January, Epiphany commemorates the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan.
To mark the event many Orthodox Christians submerge themselves in holes of icy water. They may dip themselves three times in the water to honour the Holy Trinity.

STORYLINE:
Monks and Russian Orthodox believers have welcomed the arrival of a gargantuan bell at the Trinity St. Sergius Monastery as part of a project to replace bells destroyed under the Soviet Union's atheism campaign.
The 72-ton (79 tonne) Czar Bell - more than five times as heavy as London's Big Ben - is to be hung in the tower of the monastery outside Moscow, one of Russian Orthodoxy's holiest sites.
The Czar Bell is a replica of a 1748 bell by the same name destroyed during Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin's campaign against religion in the 1930's.
It is the third bell to be replaced in the monastery, where some 40 bells were wrecked.
After a three-day trip by truck from its casting site in St. Petersburg the bell stood outside the white crenelated walls of the monastery, waiting to be hoisted into the bell tower.
At the end of an outdoor service commemorating its arrival, believers kissed the bell or placed their foreheads on it.
Monastery officials said the bell will be ringing by Easter.
Under Stalin, thousands of church bells were smashed and re-smelted across the Soviet Union as churches were razed and monks executed.
Churches that were not torn down were used as breweries, factories, secret police facilities and for other purposes.
The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 brought a strong revival in the church.
