Yangzhou is a city in China's Jiangsu province, straddling the Grand Canal north of the Yangtze River. Once a major stop for the salt trade, it's now known for gardens, Islamic relics and ancient shrines. Daming Temple is a Buddhist complex named for the Daming reign (457–464) when it was built. Slender West Lake is framed by moon gates and classical bridges.
Love for mother lake: Dongting defenders
A scientist has said the Yangtze finless porpoise will become extinct in 15 years. In order to protect the species from this fate, He Daming and his son lead a group of fishermen on patrol almost every day in Dongting Lake, one of the finless porpoises' main habitats. They have effectively stopped illegal fishing, reducing the threats to the fresh water mammal. As a result of their joint efforts with the fishery administration, the number of finless porpoises in East Dongting Lake has increased from 90 to 120 since 2012.

Daming Temple In Yangzhou City | China（扬州 - 大明寺）
Situated in a northwestern suburb of Yangzhou city, Jiangsu Province, the Daming Temple combines together a number of attractions, including religious buildings, important historical sites and beautiful gardens. It was first built in the Southern Dynasties (420-589), although has undergone numerous renovations and expansions since that time. The temple has assumed many different names during its 1500-year history, although in 1980 it reverted back to its original title.

Dongguan Old Street is the most representative old street. It starts the east of the Grand Canal and ends at Guoqing Road with a length of 1122 meters (about 0.7 mile). This street was the center of business, handicraft industry, religion and culture in ancient Yangzhou.
Today, many time-honored shops and restaurants are still open on the Dongguan Old Street, such as Simei Sauce and Pickle Shop, Pang Guanghe Hardware Shop, Xia Guangsheng Tofu Shop and Chen Tongxing Shoe Shop.
At the entrance of the Dongguan Old Street is the Site of East Gate of the Tang and Song Dynasties.
