'Hong Kong Velodrome is a velodrome in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong. It has a 250-metre cycling track and spectator facilities for 3,000 people. It opened in December 2013 next to the Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground. The Hong Kong government agreed to build the velodrome after Wong Kam-po won the gold medal for the men's road race in the 2006 Asian Games at Doha, amid concerns that athletes who represent Hong Kong had to rely on training facilities in China.[2] Construction of the HK$1.1 billion venue got the legislative go-ahead in January 2010 and work began two months later.[3]
On 5 November 2012, Chief Secretary Carrie Lam kicked off construction of the Tseung Kwan O Velodrome, as it was then known. The velodrome occupies 6.6 hectares, and cycling helmets inspired its wavy rooftop design. Mrs Lam officiated at the ceremony marking the start of construction.[4]
The velodrome officially opened on 30 December 2013. The inaugural international event, the 2014 Hong Kong International Track Cup (a UCI class-one event), was held 10–12 January 2014.[5][6]
On 3 March 2014, Lleyton Hewitt, Tomas Berdych, Sam Stosur and Li Na played in the BNP Paribas Showdown exhibition tennis matches at the Velodrome, all 3,000 tickets were sold out. Li and Stosur were complimentary about the unusual location for a tennis event, which featured ground-level VIP seating on either side and spectator stands at both ends inside the 250-metre cycling track.[7]
On 2 May 2015, the International Cycling Union (UCI) awarded the final leg of its 2015–16 UCI Track Cycling World Cup to Hong Kong, The Cycling Association of Hong Kong hosted a round of the World Cup for the first time on 16–17 January 2016. Racing took place at the Hong Kong Velodrome.[8]
In March 2016 the UCI announced that the Hong Kong Velodrome had been selected as the venue for the 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships.'

First time riding in the velodrome, it's fun!
Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Hong Kong HK
Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park, located in Hong Kong Island's Sai Ying Pun neighborhood, is a relatively new addition to the city. Formed from reclaimed land in 2010, the large open space offers waterfront views as well as a cityscape of tall buildings. The biggest draw however, is a large patch of grass that forms a circle around a statue of Sun Yat Sen. Visitors can even sit on the grass without being hassled - a luxury which is almost unheard of elsewhere in the city. Chief Secretary Carrie Lam kicked off construction of the Tseung Kwan O Velodrome.
Set to open late next year, it will be Hong Kong's first indoor cycling track that meets international standards for training and competition.
The velodrome occupies 6.6 hectares, and cycling helmets inspired its wavy rooftop design. Hong Kong's London Olympics medal-winning cyclist Sarah Lee said it will be a good training and competition venue for local cyclists, adding she has had to travel six hours to the Mainland for training in recent years.
Hong Kong Cycling Team head coach Shen Jin-kang said the track will help his squad, and encourage more youngsters take up the sport. ( )

Facilities[edit]
Velodrome[edit]

The space within the centre of the cycle track forms a multi-purpose area for basketball, volleyball, badminton, gymnastics and other sports, but the space is closed to the public whenever the cycling track is being used.
The remainder of the public sports centre is located on the ground floor, beneath the cycle track level, comprising a table tennis room, a dance room, a fitness room, activity rooms, and a children's playroom.[4]

HONG KONG WALKING TOUR (ULTRA HD 4K) - HANG HAU | 坑口
#walk #walking #4kwalking #hongkong #discoverhongkong
Welcome to our Hong Kong Walking Tour in Hang Hau 坑口. Our video is shot in Ultra HD 4K, crystal clear quality, as if you are actually here. The walk starts in the street where the post office is. Hang Hau is basically linked by shoppping centres and its layout is like a square roundabout, with the shopping centre in the middle and other shops and business, schools on the side.
'Hang Hau (Chinese: 坑口) is a residential area in Tseung Kwan O, Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong. It is located at the eastern edge of the Tseung Kwan O New Town. Most of the land was reclaimed from Hang Hau Village and Shui Bin Village (水邊村).
The earliest history referring to Hang Hau was in the 19th century. It was an agricultural and fishing village. Hang Hau got its name from a large water channel near Mang Kung Uk (孟公屋) that led to the sea. In days gone by, Hang Hau was on the sea front, facing Junk Bay. Many of the village names in Hang Hau reflect this – Shui Bin Village (水邊村) means Waterside Village, for example.
On 2 October 1957, Hang Hau Rural Committee was established. The rural committee was to serve the indigenous inhabitants in Hang Hau Village, Shui Bin Village, Tin Ha Wan Village, Yau Yue Wan Village, Tseng Lan Shue, Tai Po Tsai, Mang Kung Uk and Po Toi O.[1]
Between the 1960s and 1980s, Hang Hau was a large ship scrapyard area. Since there was a ferry from Junk Bay to Island East Hong Kong, Hong Kong Oxygen Company started building factories in Hang Hau. Manufacturing business and trading services were established.
Long before the development of Tseung Kwan O New Town, Hang Hau was near settlements such as Hang Hau Village, Boon Kin Village and Tin Ha Wan Village. Most of the Villages were relocated at the current site near the Tseung Kwan O Hospital, which were moved after the new town's development. Now, about two-thirds of Hang Hau is on reclaimed land, and the sea is far away.
There has been a proposal to build Hang Hau New Town.[2] It was considered because it is near the urban area, but it was put aside owing to the high cost of reclaiming the deep Junk Bay.
Housing
Indigenous three storey village houses still can be found in the eastern edge of Hang Hau. Nowadays, Hang Hau is fully built-out with private and public estates owing to the development of Tseung Kwan O New Town.
