Hong Fu Temple - Guiyang, Guizhou Province
[ 黔靈山 弘福寺 Hongfu Temple @ Mount Qianling, Guiyang, #1 of 2 ]
Hongfu Temple is a Buddhist temple located on Mount Qianling, in Yunyan District of Guiyang, Guizhou, China. The temple was originally built in 1672, eleventh year of the Kangxi Emperor, by monk Chisong (赤松), under the Qing dynasty (1644–1911). After the Parinirvana of Chisong, his disciple Zhai Mai (翟脉) succeeded the abbot. In 1739, in the 4th year of Qianlong period, the Qing government bestowed a set of Chinese Buddhist canon on the temple.
In 1929, monk Guoyao (果瑶) founded the Guizhou Buddhist College in the temple.After the founding of the Communist State, master Huaiyi (怀一) served as abbot of Hongfu Temple.During the ten-year Cultural Revolution, the temple was dilapidated with huge losses of the cultural relics.
After the 3rd Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in 1983, Hongfu Temple was designated as a National Key Buddhist Temple in Han Chinese Area by the State Council of China.On July 28, 1987, the government transferred the management rights to the temple.

Traveling to Guizhou Province for the 2012 China Travel Photography Arts Festival, we spent our first night in Guiyang, the capitol. While there was no group sightseeing here, I did manage to get some photos near our hotel and along the river front at night of Hongfu Temple and nearby buildings. Guiyang is the capital of Guizhou province of Southwest China. It is located in the centre of the province, situated on the east of the Yunnan--Guizhou Plateau, and on the north bank of the Nanming River, a branch of the Wu River. A phenomenon I encountered in almost every city and town I went from north to south. Women of all ages, size and aptitude dancing daily.
Guiyang is a remarkably pleasant city, with lots of parks, canals and architecture. I'd almost say liveable, which can't be said for most other Chinese cities of its size. Guizhou was my favorite province-- rural with a diverse ethnic population.
