La plage de Kahekili est une belle et longue plage. Elle est beaucoup moins fréquentée que sa voisine, la plage de Ka'anapali. Black Rock, un promontoire de lave, séparent ces deux plages.
Les eaux de cette plage sont propices à la baignade ainsi qu'à la plongée en apnée. C'est le site idéal pour les débutants car le récif s'étend pratiquement jusqu'au rivage.
On y retrouve un large éventail de poissons et on peut également y voir des tortues de mer.
Nous avons même aperçu un baliste écharpe dont le nom hawaiien est plutôt difficile à retenir: Humuhumunukunukuapua'a. Ce poisson est l'un des emblèmes de l'état d'Hawaii.
Cette plage dispose d'un grand stationnement gratuit, toilettes, douches, tables de pique-nique et barbecues).
Un sentier pavé a été érigé dans ce parc, permettant ainsi aux usagers de se promener le long de cette magnifique plage.

Randonnée - Hanakao'o Beach Park/Wahikuli Wayside Park - Ka'anapali- West Maui - Hawaii

Le Hanakao'o Beach Park est un parc situé juste avant la zone hôtelière érigée en bordure de la plage de Ka'anapali.
Ce parc est ouvert à tous les jours de 7h à 20h. On retrouve sur place des toilettes, douches, tables de pique-nique ainsi que des barbecues. Sa plage est surveillée.
A partir de cet endroit, nous avons fait une randonnée pédestre jusqu'au Wahikuli Wayside Park (Coordonnées GPS: 20.902269, -156.684897), ce qui représente environ 3 km aller-retour.
La balade est agréable car le sentier, qui est pavé, est en bordure de l'océan. Cependant, il se trouve également à proximité de l'autoroute, ce qui pourrait être un facteur négatif pour certaines personnes.
Il est fréquent d'apercevoir des tortues dans ce secteur. Nous avons d'ailleurs eu l'opportunité de voir une belle grosse tortue qui se prélassait sur la plage.
Le Wahikuli Wayside Park, ouvert de 7h à 21h, possède également plusieurs espaces de stationnement ainsi que des toilettes, douches, tables de pique-nique et barbecues.
Ces deux parcs sont tout à fait appropriés pour y faire un pique-nique en famille ou entre amis ou tout simplement prendre du bon temps à l'abri du soleil car on y retrouve plusieurs arbres qui procurent de l'ombre ainsi que toutes les commodités requises.

Honokowai Beach Park in Maui - Family friendly beach.
This is a place where locals would bring the family and enjoy the beach under the shade of trees. There are BBQ grills and a playground for the keikis.
The beach itself is sloped and sandy - fine for little ones to play in since there is a bit of reef offshore that suppresses the waves. A mellow, easy to find beach park in Maui.

I love this beach - Papalaua Beach Park / Thousand Peaks in Maui
This is a beach along the Honoapiilani Highway near Lahaina. It's good for snorkeling and picnicking with the family. It's a somewhat narrow beach, but has a fun shorebreak and a great view of Molokai.

Ohana Tacos, Napili-Honokowai (Lahaina), Maui, Hawaii
This is a brief view of the Ohana Tacos outlet on Lower Honoapiilani Road just up from the ABC Store and the Aston Papakea Resort. This is in a strip mall at the other end of where The Fish Market is. I liked the fish tacos here but this, as you can see, a really tiny place. A significant negative to me is a lack of a liquour license meaning no nice Mexican beer with your meal.
