Hook-a-Barra Wonga Beach
Uncle Daz took the kids up the road to the barramundi farm for some fishing. Thinking they can never go fishing normally ever now because they'll expect to pull in well over a dozen plate sized fish inside an hour. FANTASTIC FUN! Adventure, baby!!!
Hook A Barra- Port Douglas, Ultimate Barra Fishing Experience
With Nikki's family visiting from down south we took the 2 hour drive north of Cairns to Hook A Barra near Port Douglas.
We all booked in for a 1 hour session and WOW what fun it was. In the hour we each would of hooked on to around 10 Barramundi each and ever Tayla (5 years old) managed to land a few great fish solo.
Each of the different ponds had different size fish. The pond housing the small fish was insane, we were literally catching something every cast. The big fish pond was a little more challenging but worth the effort, the biggest Barra we caught for the day would of been around 80cm and put up one hell of a fight.
If you are looking for a awesome activity to do in the Cairns or Port Douglas region this is well worth the trip. I know we will be back!!

137cm Big Barra at Kinchant Dam on 2019 BARRA Tour
Burdekin guide, John Campbell didn't stray too far from the boat ramp at Kinchant Dam to register the biggest barra ever landed on an ABT BARRA Tour event. Measuring 137cm and weighing over 100lb on the DPI-supplied length/weight curve, it will be record that remains for a long time, according to fellow anglers.

Wonga Beach WW2 Bomb Site
We LOVE Port Douglas.
Off the Captain Cook Highway, north out of Port Douglas, inland from the pretty town of Wonga, you'll come across a little bit of Australia's Second World War history.
A little known incident that occured in 1942, when Japanese bombers unleashed their deadly load onto the cane fields of Far North Queensland.
We take a trip to visit the memorial sculpture that marks the site of the only recorded civillian casualty inflicted on the east coast of Australia during the Second World War. Come and learn the fate of that little girl, as she slept in the family home.
