We travel the full length of the Okeechobee Waterway from East on our 32 foot sailboat. We are delivering our sailboat to the new owner who lives in Bradenton, FL.
Starting off in Stuart, we'll go through 5 locks, under the (scary) Port Macaya Railroad Lift Bridge, and across the EXTREMELY shallow Lake Okeechobee.
It's ICW style travel again as we cross the entire state of Florida on a sailboat. It sounds kinda crazy when you think about it like that.
This is a 2 part series so be sure that you subscribe to our channel to be notified when the 2nd part is complete.
Thanks for watching!

The Most Popular Sailing Destination in the Bahamas - We Find Our Next Boat? A Live Aboard Journey
Welcome aboard Searching for C-Shels, where everyday feels like a Saturday! Flick off your Flip Flops and journey with us through the George Town Bahamas area. In Season 3 Episode 13 we hit George Town Exuma during the National Family Island Regatta. There is so much we did during our stay here it was difficult to show it all. From the Chat n Chill, Stocking Island Beach, swimming with the friendliest sea turtle on a reef in Elizabeth Harbour, taking in the vendors and street party festivities on the Streets of George Town, and getting a front row seat to the regatta at Peace and Plenty... And there is still so much we didn't get to... next season I guess. Welcome to our boat life, our alternative lifestyle on the ocean.

We are a travel couple, looking for a non mainstream life of living aboard a boat and cruising in the Caribbean/Bahamas in Winter, and the Great Lakes in Summer. Working when we can to fill the cruising kitty. We have sold everything we own, and we now own a cruising yacht. We have chosen to do this voyaging under power, instead of the popular sailing route.
Our mission is to help inspire people to live their dreams earlier in life, instead of waiting until retirement. So often retirement dreams are dashed by health issues, or other unforeseen later life circumstances. If you have a dream, then dream, plan, and do it now. We hope to make you smile, and spark the urning in your heart for fulfilling your dreams.

STORYLINE:
People in the Bahamas awoke to fierce swirls of wind and rain on Thursday as the powerful hurricane Irene tore through the island chain on its way toward the US eastern coast.
Irene caused widespread damage to some of the smaller, lightly populated Bahamian islands, destroying nearly all the homes in one case, but a shift in the storm''s track spared the capital, Nassau.
Waves were seen surging along the sea''s edge in Nassau on Thursday, and one curious onlooker was soaked when a large wave crashed over him.
Downtown Nassau with its colourful limestone buildings was largely unscathed, but the Straw Market, a well-known shopping spot for tourists, did not survive the night.
The canvas roof was torn to shreds and the metal frame damaged, leaving about 600 craft stalls exposed to the wind and rain.
Downed trees were also seen on streets around the city, their broken limbs protruding.
There was widespread relief at the way the storm turned out in Nassau.
The island of New Providence, which is home to more than 200,000 people and some of the most famous resorts in the Bahamas, was a mess of scattered debris.
But there was only minor flooding and no major damage.
The operating officer of the Emergency Management Agency in the Bahamas said that in New Providence, there were a lot of trees down, homes that had lost shingles on their roofs, as well as power outages, but there were no reports of injuries or deaths anywhere.
The situation was much worse on the smaller islands that felt the full power of Irene''s hurricane-force winds.
About 90 percent of homes in two settlements known as Lovely Bay and Chesters on Acklins Islands were destroyed and no longer inhabitable, according to the Emergency Management Agency official.
A total of about 100 homes were damaged, she said.
On the island of Mayaguana, where roughly 250 people live, about 40 homes were damaged, she said.
There are also reports of extensive damage on Cat Island, Long Island and Eleuthera, but authorities have not been able to complete full assessments because phone lines have gone down, and conditions were still dangerous on Thursday through much of the islands.
Irene is only the third storm since 1866 to cross the entire length of the island chain, and Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham said the country was bracing for extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure. But he predicted few casualties overall.
The US National Hurricane Centre in Miami, Florida, warned on Thursday that an extremely dangerous storm surge will raise water levels by as much as 7 to 11 feet (2 to 3 meters) above normal tide levels over the Bahamas.
On its website, the centre said the surge will be accompanied by large and dangerous waves, and Irene is expected to dump from 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 centimetres) of rain on the islands over the next day and a half.

Our ABSOLUTE favorite spot in the Bahamas 64 Sailing Saoirse
In this episode we explore our ABSOLUTE favorite spot
in the Bahamas, Rocky Dundas and Rachel’s Bubble Bath.
We wake up early to a beautiful sunrise and sail south before the tide drops too far. We don't want to get stuck on these shallow banks and sand bars. The wind started to pick up just as we raise the sails and we get to enjoy our breakfast while cruising along. We make a detor so we don't run aground although it did add an extra time to our sail. Our favorite saying is that it’s about the journey not the destination, so we have learned to accept the detritus as a part of the journey. As we approach Rocky Dundas we decide to anchor at Fowl Cay (AKA Chicken Cay). Once we drop the hook we realize the beach is private. So we will have to dinghy over to Rocky Dundas for Oona's walks.
We head over to explore Rocky Dundas a little later than we wanted but we can always go back if the current is too strong. When we get there there is no one around. Perfect! we get the place to ourselves! There is a decent amout of coral surrounding the entrance to the south cave. When we enter the cave we're taken aback by how majestic it is. After having a little fun filming we swim back to the dinghy and work our way over to Rachel's Bubble Bath on Compass Cay here in the Exumas. There is a shallow river that takes you right to the bubble bath. The water is cold and we have the place again to ourselves for a bit. The waves come crashing in from the ocean over the rocks and into the pool causing you to fill like you are taking a lovely bubble bath.
Hope you enjoy!
big love,
beau, brandy, and our salty dog, oona

Hurricane Lorenzo aftermath.... Sailing Vessel Delos Ep.252
The Azores have a long standing tradition of sailors painting their boat names on the jetty walls before setting out to sea, and in this episode we take that tradition to heart! Little did we know the majority of the MASSIVE concrete pier would soon be smashed by Hurricane Lorenzo and have a very serious effect on the island. It was a hard place for us to leave, but after wrapping up our final Canyoning mission it was time to make the overnight sail to FAIAL and have a new set of adventures begin!

Duo First Row Easter 2014
10ft Duo plywood rowing/sailing dinghy on its maiden row. The boat is unfinished, only primer paint and it is missing the inflatable collar that is an integral part of the design. We borrowed the overlong oars, which made it awkward to row
Weight is under 50lbs. It is made from 2 sheets of plywood in about 30 hours. A nesting version is available. See more here
Tiny GIRL vs BIG Ocean [EP 62] | Sailing Millennial Falcon
We start the episode one day into crossing the Atlantic Ocean to Bermuda which turned out to be a great day of sailing! A couple of days later and the weather takes a turn for the worst as we experience sailing while being surrounded by lightening and then afterwards, dead calm.
Khiara gets a little hysterical while modeling our wet weather gear... a definite sign of too many days at sea! Then finally as we see the end in sight, our engine starts giving us trouble...

Road Trip, New Boat, Dinner with Shawn
#swiftcanoe #joerobinet #myselfreliance
This is a different kind of video for me, more of a vlog of my trip south to Swift Canoe to pick up my new boat.
I meet up with Shawn James from My Self Reliance, we hang out at swift, then go to dinner, we then part ways until the next day, where Shawn, Doug and I head out fishing for bass, and camp out at The Log Cabin Shawn has built.
This is footage I normally dont film, so this is really just an extra video, full trip video of fishing and cabin life with the guys will be up this Friday.
Hope you enjoy!
