There were Celts mining in the Forest of Dean even before the Romans, and when Lionel Hampden visited in 1964 for Midland Montage, not much appeared to have changed! He talks to local miner Bert Hinton about the ancient rights that allow Forest of Dean men to become Free Miners and make a living from primitive drift mines as they hack out the coal and bringing it to the surface by hand.
Forest Paranormal Investigations Halloween weekend Day 2
Halloween Day sees Adam and Paula investigating more local sites in the Forest of Dean and Monmouthshire. First stop is a visit to the Kymin, a landmark that lies on a prominent British ley line that is also said to be haunted by an apparition whos appearance fortells the death of a local resident living on the hill. Next up is Hadnock Road in Monmouth, reputedly haunted for over 50 years by a faceless lady who, more recently has been seen dressed in Victorian regalia and riding an old fashioned bike on the road. The pair take shelter from the foreboding weather in an old barn and get more than they bargained for when they decide to investigate. They hop back over the border to finish up at Hopewell Colliery in the Forest of Dean with some interesting results on KII and Ovilus. Look out for the final part of FPI's Halloween weekend where Adam and Paula are reunited with Tim and Vicki to investigate the infamous Devil's Pulpit toward the witching hour on Halloween night.
Forest of Dean meet December 2014 - A video of videos
What a great weekend. So good I didn't feel like filming, and would have not found the time to do it anyway. An early morning walk up the hill, followed by the only two clips of the weekend and some quad copter footage. I was so tired after the event I am not my usual jolly self in the initial video, but it was rather early, and cold ;)
