Ana Kasparian (The Point) and John Iadarola (Think Tank), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
The U.S. Agriculture Department is reviewing the authenticity of a video that allegedly shows animals being beaten and feces-covered pigs at a hog slaughterhouse that supplies SPAM-maker Hormel Foods, and plans to investigate if the video proves to be real, the agency said on Wednesday.
The 3:41-minute video was released on Wednesday by animal activist group Compassion Over Killing. The group says the video shows workers at a Quality Pork Processors (QPP) plant in Minnesota beating, dragging and slitting the throats of live animals that writhe in apparent pain. (here)

Minnesota
Minnesota /mɪnɨˈsoʊtə/ is a U.S. state in the Midwestern United States. Minnesota was carved out of the eastern half of the Minnesota Territory and admitted to the Union as the 32nd state on May 11, 1858. Known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, the state's name comes from a Dakota word for clear water.
Minnesota is the 12th largest in area and the 21st most populous of the U.S. States. Nearly 60% of its residents live in the Minneapolis--Saint Paul metropolitan area (known as the Twin Cities), the center of transportation, business, industry, education, and government and home to an internationally known arts community. The remainder of the state consists of western prairies now given over to intensive agriculture; deciduous forests in the southeast, now cleared, farmed and settled; and the less populated North Woods, used for mining, forestry, and recreation.

10 Things You Didn't Know About SPAM
Hormel created SPAM as a way to use pork shoulder. Instead of throwing out the edible meat, the company decided to process it with ham. Unlike hot dogs, which contain mechanically separated animal parts, SPAM is simply pork shoulder, ham, salt, water, sugar, potato starch, and sodium nitrate.
Popular Fair Treat
State and regional fairs across the United States have annual SPAM recipe contests. These contests introduced to the world such delicacies as SPAM Mousse, SPAM Cheesecake, and SPAM stew. Each year, contestants continue experimenting with different SPAM combinations.
SPAM has a Restaurant
SPAM is also popular in the Philippines where the restaurant SPAMJAM opened in 2004. The menu features SPAM-based delicacies like SPAM burgers, SPAM spaghetti, and SPAM nuggets. With the exceptions of hot dogs, French fries, and desserts, each menu item contains SPAM.
Burger King and McDonalds Sell SPAM Sandwiches
SPAM is extremely popular in Hawaii and Guam where imported meat is expensive. Not only do these places consume more SPAM per person than anywhere else in the United States, but also fast food chains Burger King and McDonalds offer SPAM sandwiches on their menus.
SPAM is a South Korean Delicacy
SPAM is a South Korean Delicacy
American soldiers introduced SPAM to South Korea during the Korean War. It was a special commodity during a time when meat was scarce, and South Koreans still value the canned meat as a luxury food. Each year, residents exchange cans of SPAM as part of their New Year celebrations.
SPAM Saved the Russian Army
SPAM Saved the Russian Army
Since it does not spoil easily and does not require refrigeration, SPAM was the ideal food for soldiers fighting in World War II. During the war, the United States shipped more than 100 million pounds of the meat to its allies in Europe. Former Russian president Nikita Kruschev once said that SPAM saved his country's army.

SPAM is an Portmanteau for Spiced Ham
SPAM is an Portmanteau for Spiced Ham
Despite claims that the product's name stands for special processed American meat or shoulders of pork and ham, a Hormel executive's brother created the name for a 1937 contest. The company insists the portmanteau stands for spiced ham, a reference to its ingredients.
