Subscribe our YouTube channel for free here:
Following the success of this year's action blockbuster Ip Man, biopic of the legendary Wing Chun grandmaster and mentor to Bruce Lee, a revival of the Chinese martial art has taken Hong Kong by storm.
In this video we meet sifu Ip Chun, son and successor of none other than Ip Man. He currently teaches classes at the humble Ving Tsun Athletic Association's headquarters in Mong Kok which was established in 1967. Ip Chun prefers to see Wing Chun as a health regimen rather than just a form of combat.
The spry 84-year-old tells us about all things Wing Chun and his thoughts on the future of the martial art in today's society.
Terracotta Army: The greatest archaeological find of the 20th century - BBC News
In March 1974, Chinese farmers digging a well unearthed the greatest archaeological find of the century - the buried Terracotta Army. After coming across a life-sized human head made of clay in Xi’an, China, archaeologists were called in to investigate. What they found was extraordinary. Thousands of life-like terracotta figures from the Qin dynasty, fashioned 2,000 years ago to protect the First Emperor of China in the afterlife. Archaeologist Li Xiuzhen has worked on the site since the 1980s. Her team was the first to discover that each warrior was originally painted in bright colours.

What I have learned from my trip to Japan in terms of style
I just came from my trip to Japan and wanted to share a few things with you about what I learned.
Tokyo is a fashion capital. This is wear world tendencies are born. Tokyo fashion is like the city itself: a mix of the modern and the past. There are several young tendencies and styles but at the same time, tradition is very important for the Japanese people. Tradition in fabrics and the style. So classic and elegant styles are very important. Taxi drivers wear white gloves.
My 2 most important takeaways:
1. Attention to the details.
The Japanese people are masters of accessories. They customise everything starting from their telephones to their shoes. Hair accessories, shoe accessories: in the boutiques in Japan you have videos explaining what you could do with accessories they are selling. Popular accessories include :
* Hair band
* clip
* barrette
* hairpin
I especially love the socks. They have such a huge selection of stocks that you could be lost.
But also in terms of jewelry, for example, they have ear cuffs that we don't see much in Europe.
Accessories can completely transform your outfit.
2. Creativity.
The Japanese people are not afraid of shining. They mix the materials and styles, use different colors. It's very colourful. What is in trend is all kind of checks, this is a global trend all over the world.
The style here is very much influenced by both Europe and Americas. It terms of the US influences, workwear, things like oversize clothes, denim are very popular.
Trending now checks
There are many Japanese brands. You could easily be lost if you are in Japan for the first time. There are beautiful brands but many of them don't export.
Young People here also have a particular style like manga or gothic style. Shibuya girl.
I hope you apply one of these tips to develop your style.

Japan Trip: Daio Wasabi Farm interesting tour & shopping, Nagano, Japan
【★025★Nagano Matsumoto Daio Wasabi Farm】
Subscribe link :
The Daio Wasabi Farm (Daiō Wasabi Nōjō) is one of Japan's largest wasabi farms and a popular tourist destination located in rural Azumino City near Matsumoto. The farm has multiple large fields with a meticulously maintained network of small streams that constantly provides each wasabi plant with clear, flowing water from the Northern Alps. Wasabi cultivation is possible only under such pristine conditions. From May to October, the fields are protected from the blaze of the sun by black tarp sheets.
The farm has been attractively developed for tourists with walking trails between the fields. Within the farm stands the Daio Shrine, which enshrines the spirit of an ancient local hero, Hachimen Daio, after which the farm has been named and who is believed to be the farm's protector. Nearby the shrine is also a small cave related to the local hero's legend. An idyllic landscape of old-fashioned, wooden water wheels alongside the river can also be enjoyed from the walking trails. The water wheels were constructed here for the filming of Kurosawa Akira's Dreams in 1989 and have been left standing. From late April to late October, short tours on inflatable boats are available so that the scenery can be enjoyed from on the water (15-30 minutes, 900-1800 yen).
Last but not least, the farm features multiple shops and a restaurant. On sale is a wide variety of wasabi related products, including fresh wasabi, wasabi paste, wasabi flavored pickles and crackers, wasabi soba noodles, wasabi curry, wasabi sausages, wasabi dressing, wasabi beer, wasabi juice, wasabi soft cream and wasabi chocolate.
Access info.
Take the JR Oito Line from Matsumoto to Hotaka Station (30 minutes, 320 yen one way, 1-2 trains/hour), from where the wasabi farm can be reached in a ten minute taxi ride (approx. 1300 yen one way). On weekends and holidays from mid April through October, there is a loop bus for tourists that connects Hotaka Station with the farm (10 minutes, 500 yen per ride or 800 yen for a 1-day pass). Outside of winter, rental bicycles are another alternative transportation to consider.

-----
A lithophone is a musical instrument consisting of a rock or pieces of rock which are struck to produce musical notes. Notes may be sounded in combination (producing harmony) or in succession (melody). The lithophone is an idiophone similar to the bars on instruments such as the glockenspiel, metallophone, xylophone and marimba.
A rudimentary form of lithophone is the rock gong, usually a natural rock formation opportunistically adapted to produce musical tones, such as that on Mfangano Island, in Lake Victoria, Kenya. The Great Stalacpipe Organ of Luray Caverns, Virginia, USA uses 37 stalactites to produce the Western scale. Another stalactite lithophone is to be found at Tenkasi in South India. Ringing Rocks Park in Pennsylvania is another well known lithophone.
A typical Basque (Spain) instrument named Txalaparta (or Chalaparta) can be made of wood or stone, but is traditionally made of wood
A more sophisticated lithophone trims and mounts individual stones to achieve a full-scale idiophone:
Probable prehistoric lithophone stones have been found at Sankarjang in Odisha, India.
Vietnamese lithophones dating back to ancient times, called đàn đá, have been discovered and revived in the 20th century.
The ritual music of Korea features the use of stone chimes called pyeongyeong, derived from the Chinese bianqing.
The Musical Stones of Skiddaw from Cumbria, England, have been made into an instrument found in Keswick Museum and Art Gallery.
A lithophone called the Musical Stones has been created at Brantwood, the former home of John Ruskin in Cumbria, England, and may be played there by visitors.
The Silex Piano, circa 1885, employed suspended flints of various sizes which were struck with other flints to produce sounds.
Composer-vibraphonist Wolfgang Lackerschmid uses an instrument called the gramorimba, which is featured alongside the vibraphone and marimba in a trio setting.
Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós constructed a slate marimba from rocks found in Iceland.
The stone marimba.
The German composer Carl Orff calls for a lithophone called Steinspiel in his later works. Some lithophones include electric pickups to amplify the sounds.
Juxtapoz x Superflat curated by Takashi Murakami and Evan Pricco
[Video by Matthew Williams]
Juxtapoz x Superflat is a manifesto for new creative practices that can no longer be adequately described by the traditional categories of art and production. Presenting the work of more than 30 artists from Japan, China, Korea, Europe and the United States this remarkable exhibition offers a unique insight into contemporary art and its place in cultural life.
Juxtapoz x Superflat was conceived by the renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and co-curated with Evan Pricco, Editor-in-Chief of Juxtapoz Art & Culture, a legendary San Francisco-based magazine committed to contemporary art, design, fashion and graffiti. They conceived the exhibition as a survey of the most exciting visual art to emerge in recent years, with a heavy emphasis on artists who operate outside of the central hubs of the global art world. Expanding upon Murakami and Juxtapoz magazine’s interest in flattening high and low cultures, this exhibition includes work by artists whose practice has been shaped by a variety of sub-cultures including skate, surf, graffiti, street art, comics, design, illustration, painting, and digital and traditional arts.
Juxtapoz x Superflat includes work by Chiho Aoshima, Urs Fischer, Kim Jung Gi, Kazunori Hamana, Trenton Doyle Hancock, John Hathway, Todd James, James Jean, Friedrich Kunath, Austin Lee, Christian Rex van Minnen, Rebecca Morgan, Takashi Murakami, Kazumi Nakamura, Elisabeth Higgins O’Connor, Otani Workshop, Paco Pomet, Parra, Erin M. Riley, Mark Ryden, David Shrigley, Devin Troy Strother, Katsuya Terada, Toilet Paper Magazine, Yuji Ueda, Yuji Ueno, Sage Vaughn, Ben Venom, He Xiangyu and Zoer & Velvet.
