This video is part 1 of a 3-part series documenting our riding adventures in Egypt 2019.

Part 1 takes place in Cairo, part 2 moves up the Nile to Luxor, and in part 3 we go east to the Red Sea.

In Cairo, we spent 3 days playing with our horses in the desert and soaking up the incredible history of the area.

The people who helped us with this trip were amazing (Stacy Farney!) and we will link them below - including the Cairo Horse Riding School run by Tamer Owayan. Sharm Equestrian is run by professional horsewomen women who love to show their guests the beauty of the area from horseback. From miles of coastline to breathtaking canyons and vast deserts, there is plenty to be explored. Guests ride primarily on Arabian horses who are famed for both their endurance and beauty.

Riders can choose from daily riding trips or try one of our longer riding holidays, with camping out in the desert alongside the horses. This is a flexible destination where tailor made packages can be organised to suit your needs – the multi day trail rides are a real adventure for the experienced rider whereas the day trips offer a more relaxed, easy-going holiday where non-riders are welcome and you can also spend some time diving, quad biking or just relaxing in the sun.

We offer 5 main trail rides. Our Nabq National Park Trail is a dream come true for beach and sea lovers! 5 days of fantastic beach riding, including 2 half days of great desert and canyon exploring. History lovers can ride through another era on our Ten Commandments Trail. This is a fast pace over 6 days, visiting the great sights of St Catherine’s & Moses Mountain. For relaxation lovers, our Horse Riding and Yoga trail offers a stunning desert experience away from the hustle of city life and explores yoga in a natural and quiet setting.

HURGHADA HORSE RIDING

Sea Horse offers guided Horseback riding on the makadibay Trail and Sahlhasheesh Beach. All rides are appropriate for first time, moderately experienced, and experienced riders. We open daily at 7am and closing times vary with seasonal changes. We may also close due to severe inclement weather and/or extremely poor trail conditions, for safety reasons. Online reservations are required.

I hired a guide for the day who took me to Saqqara for a tour. In the afternoon (it was HOT!) I rode a horse through the desert behind the great pyramid. It was perfect ????

Today, The day before Ramadaan, we went on an outing with another beautiful family here in Egypt. We visited the Cairo Horse Riding School in Giza. The trip was about 45 minutes from Cairo but well worth it. This is our second visit to this school but our first visit to this new location. The owner and lead instructor speaks very good English and is very engaging with the children and customers. We had an excellent experience and I recommend you to go if you are in Cairo.
** WARNING:
the dust and sand can be a trigger for asthma to anyone riding behind other riders. Helmets and masks were not provided to us. My husband did suffer a serious asthma attack after inhaling so much of the sand and dust kick-up from riders in front of him. I was shielded by niqab and my son shielded himself with my khimmar. But I suggest you bring a scarf Or bandanna to cover your nose and face.***


NOTE: Many of these are rescued horses and I saw noticeably more care and consideration given to them than other livestock and animals I have seen here in Egypt. We plan to totally come again.
