8 Athletes Who Died On Camera
1. Patrick Ekeng (26 March 1990 – 6 May 2016)
Seven minutes after his entrance, with his team leading 3–2, he collapsed. He was transported and resuscitated at the hospital, and within two hours the medical staff confirmed that he had died. The cause of death was a suspected heart attack. He was 26 years old.
2. Nodar Kumaritashvili (25 November 1988 – 12 February 2010)
Kumaritashvili was fatally injured in a crash during his final training run at the Whistler Sliding Centre when he lost control in the penultimate turn of the course and was thrown off his luge and over the sidewall of the track, striking an unprotected steel support pole at the end of the run. He was travelling at 89.2 mph at the moment of impact.
3. Hank Gathers (February 11, 1967 – March 4, 1990)
Gathers collapsed on Sunday, March 4, 1990, in Los Angeles, Hank collapsed. He was found to have an abnormal heartbeat (exercise-induced ventricular tachycardia), and was prescribed a beta blocker, Inderal.
He attempted to get up, telling the trainers, I don't want to lay down!, then shortly after stopped breathing. Gathers died soon thereafter at a nearby hospital. He was 23 years old.
4. Marco Campos (24 February 1976 – 15 October 1995)
Campos was killed in an accident at the season-ending race in Magny Cours. On the last lap of the season finale, on the straight before the Adelaide hairpin, his left front tyre collided with the right rear tyre of Thomas Biagi's car while racing, and was launched into the air.
His car flipped over, and Campos' head struck the top of the concrete retaining wall whilst flying upside-down. The accident resulted in severe skull fractures, and massive head trauma and put him into a deep coma. Campos died the following day.
5. Donald Campbell (23 March 1921 – 4 January 1967)
Donald Campbell deid a split second before breaking his own water speed record in his jet-powered boat, the Bluebird K7. He was travelling at more than 300mph Water when the boat was catapulted 50ft into the air after its nose lifted.
46 year old Mr Campbell was killed instantly as the boat hit the water and immediately disintegrated. Despite extensive efforts by a team of Royal Navy divers, although Bluebird's wreckage was located on 5 January, on the lake bed, Campbell's body was not located until 2001.
6. Perro Aguayo Jr (July 23, 1979 – March 21, 2015)
Aguayo died from a cervical spine trauma, reportedly as a result of a dropkick by Mysterio Jr. that propelled him forward to the ring ropes, causing severe whiplash trauma that snapped his neck. The cause of death was later announced as cardiac arrest, due to a cervical stroke caused by three fractured vertebrae.
7. Dale Earnhardt (April 29, 1951 – February 18, 2001)
Earnhardt was involved in a three-car accident on the final lap of the race, in which he collided with Ken Schrader after making small contact with Sterling Marlin and hit the outside wall head-on.
Earnhardt's death was officially pronounced at the Halifax Medical Center Earnhardt was 49 years old at the time of his death. An autopsy conducted on February 19, 2001 concluded that Earnhardt died instantly of blunt force trauma to his head due to the accident. It also reported that Earnhardt sustained a fatal basilar skull fracture.
8. Mark Porter (2 October 1974 – 8 October 2006)
Mark lost control of his car at 120 mph. He stalled in the middle of the track and was a sitting duck when the rest of the field came roaring through. Chris Alajajian connected with the tail of Porter's car. David Clark, however, in an effort to avoid the stalled Porter, slid his car sideways whilst travelling at high speed.
The front right hand side of his car hit the drivers side door of Porter's car, crushing the side of the car. The front right hand of Porter's car also hit the drivers door of Clark, critically injuring him. Marshals were quick to arrive at the scene where one, unable to open the driver's door on Porter's car, opened the rear door in an attempt to check his condition.
Both drivers were unconscious at the time. Porter was taken by ambulance to Hospital and later that day airlifted to the Hospital in Sydney with serious head and chest injuries but died in late afternoon of Sunday 8 October 2006 as the feature race was concluding.

GPX tracks:
Rider: Hans Howald at age 69 May 8th – June 5th 2018
Music: Written & performed by my friend John Boyd
Lyrics:
We’re starting at the end of the land, where Cornwall leaves the sea.
White hat, black pants, red top Bertha and me.
Past Penzance to St Michael’s, and Newquay’s beautiful bay.
The Camel trail and the Tarka trail and the disused rail-ia-away.
You won’t hear Wellington’s voices from the top of Glastonbury’s Tor.
But when you in Wells you’ll hear Cathederal bells, cos that’s what the music is for.
I’m ‘resting in peace’ where others lay, as Bristol’s coming under my wheel.
With the railway cars, the cables of Clifton and the sofa for the
way that you feel………………….
From the Llanthony bridge of Gloucester to Hestercombe’s pleasant lands.
Worcester’s spires, Nantwich’s fires to the Iron Bridge’s wonderful spans.
Manchester’s topiary gardens, on to Whalley Abbey as you do.
The Forest of Bowland and the circles of stone, with Penrith coming into our view.
Christ!, what was that, Bertha’s broken a spoke, Carlisle’s put a spanner in the works.
Feelin’ slightly sniffy but they fixed it in a jiffy, cos that’s serendipty’s perks.
So now we’re pushing on to the border, Caledonia awaits with open arms.
Have you ever been to Gretna Green, or felt Glaesga’s waterside
charms………………….
From the castle’s of Dumbarton and Balloch, down the cycle track to Callandar town.
Through the woods of England’s queen, as the Scottish sun keeps shining down.
The waters of Venachar and Lubnaig, making friends with a trinity of coos.
Riding through the skies of Glen Ogle, and the ghosts of a hundred choo choos.
Now we’re going on down to Killin, Castle Menzies and the Dochart Falls.
Down the shores of Loch Tay, there’s nothing in our way, till the
Scottish Crannog Centre calls.
Castle Blair in the sunshine, up to Drumochter’s high pass and summit.
Dalwhinnie’s tipple visitor centre, Ruthven Barrack’s if you don’t
want to slum it!.......................
Aviemore’s for skiing and tee’ing, Carrbridge for a jump and a splash.
Tomatin distills and will tempt you with its thrills if you offer them a little bit of cash.
Inverness Castle’s standing red, proud and strong, whilst the
Lovats are all resting in peace.
Down in the mists crossing Kessock, up to Struie’s view that never seems to cease.
The Bridges at Dornoch and Bonar, Sutherland’s wilderness awaits.
The comforts of Crask, Lairg to Tongue, this land must one of heaven’s gates.
Looking out across the River Naver, Castle of May no needs for moats.
Then I can’t believe my eyes, is it some kind of disguise,
Yes its John, its John, its John, its John, its John O’Groats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This fantastic ride from Land’s End to John o’Groats covers 1,200 miles on the National Cycle Network, broken into 28 achievable stages using on-road and traffic-free routes and taking you through some of the most picturesque landscapes in England and Scotland. Billy Connelly even turns up on his trike with Evil Kinevil as pillion passenger?
The Views are stunning from the summit on a clear day you can see the Solway, Carlisle, Penrith & a stunning panorama of the Northern Lake District.

199. NORTH OF ENGLAND TOUR PART 17: THE YORKSHIRE THREE PEAKS
In June I embarked on a four day tour of the North of England. I travelled a distance of almost 1000 miles along the A and B roads taking in the rolling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds, the majestic North Yorkshire Moors, the stunning Dales and the high hills of the Pennines, before dipping down to explore the beautiful Lake District, returning through the riding heaven of the Peak District.
I hope you enjoy watching as much I enjoyed doing it.
After some spectacular scenery in the Lakes I head back into the Yorkshire dales for my third over night stop at Hawes.

Appleby Eden Valley Circular Day Hiking Westmoorland Cumbria England UK
Appleby Eden Valley Circular Day Hiking Westmoorland Cumbria England UK
This was the second day hiking trip myself and my partner Anne undertook on our hiking holiday in the Eden Valley, Cumbria, Westmoorland, England, UK in June 2010.
This is a moderate day hike and quite easy, level walking. However, the fact that we had full sun most of the day made it very hot day, and as there was very little breeze, it made the hiking quite tough. It was a great introduction to the Eden Valley and the River Eden area. It was along clear, well marked route, including some country lanes. We hiked through some beautiful riverside scenery and also visited a picturesque waterfall, Rutter Force.

The Great Britain 4 Day 2 - 17th April 2011
Day 2 of The Great Britain 4 tour ran from Edinburgh to Aberdeen and Inverness with LMS Royal Scot Class 7P 4-6-0 46115 Scots Guardsman. These 2 clips are taken at Markinch and Lunan Bay. Both locations were new to me.
At Markinch the video was taken from a nature reserve. Whilst there I was talking to an older man walking his dog and found that his son works on the West Somerset Railway. Small world. The train is a bit dark against the bright sky.
At Lunan I have had to cut the start of the video due to an altercation between a horse lorry and a car on the narrow road I was standing beside. Great timing!
