Last Day in Iceland! - Horseback Riding, Viking Settlements, Hot Springs
This documents are last day in Iceland! We went horseback riding, visited a viking settlement (replica) and found a lovely hot spring pool to relax in before our flights the next morning. I realize I forgot the name of the hot spring in the video! Sorry about that... It's called The Secret Lagoon in Fluðir. Here is their site:
So glad to have experienced a small taste of what Iceland had to offer. We hope that we get the chance to go again some day!

Iceland Snowmobile a Glacier: The only way to see this dramatic landscape.
With the way things are going these days, snowmobiling Langjokull glacier in Iceland could be a very rare experience soon, so we suggest, go now. We hopped off the golden circle with Mountaineers of Iceland and hopped on two snowmobile beasts to tank up to the summit just to have a the most epic snowball fight we've ever had. Surrounded by pristine nature, and fully seeing how massive these ice sheets are is something otherworldly, and definitely worth the journey. One of the best things you can do in Iceland easily, and a short hop from Reykjavik makes this a must-do in our books.
New Video Each Single Day! So stay tuned, like and subscribe for more travel tips and adventures.

Driving in Iceland - road conditions - American perspective
First week of April, near the end of their winter season.
I was traveling to Iceland for the first time and I was planning on driving outside of the country for the first time. I was a bit nervous about driving so I wanted to see how driving was but there wasn't many videos dedicated to just showing how the roads are like. So I decided to make this video. I didn't think of it until half way through my trip so I didn't get my Reykjavik driving but hope these help people get an idea of what it's like.
Since annotations is going away, I'll try to explain the video here:
0:00 - Day start at 830am. Light snow.
0:30 - Pulling into Seljalandsfoss. Heavy snowing here.
0:40 - Snowing is done and Sun is coming out behind the clouds.
0:45 - Still some slush on the ground. Have to be careful as the roads can get narrow and ditch can get high.
1:00 - Driving into Vík for the first time. I pulled into the first gas station on the right.
1:12 - The gravel road to the right leads to a parking lot to the beach. It is just like black sand beach, great view, and no large groups of tourists.
1:45 - I parked so I can go inside to use the restroom and buy snacks.
1:50 - Literally 15 minutes later it starts to snow again. You can see it get progressively worst. This is when I decided not to continue on my destination and reparked the car to wait out the snow.
2:40 - Snow only lasted 15 minutes and back to blue skies.
3:00 - Just a few minutes drive in and you can already see the change in scenery.
3:40 - I actually doubled back past Vik and went to Dyrhólaey. The roads were paved up until you went up the side of the mountain to get to the parking lot. Here you can see me leaving, going down the mountain, and see how bad the roads is. Once you get to the bottom, the roads are paved. This was the only time during my trip where I felt iffy. Especially when another car came pass you since it's really narrow and steep.
4:30 - Here is partially paved road with gravel leading to the horse farm I was staying at. That concludes a day's drive. From here on, it is the next day driving through Selfoss, and through Reykjavik to the airport.
Basically, it is super easy to drive in Iceland. Drivers aren't aggressive. They actually use the passing lane to pass! Only intimidating thing for me was the two lane roundabouts. We don't have any roundabouts where I live.
I didn't do the entire Golden Circle. I stayed in the south near Vik, southwest, and west in Reykjavik. Google Maps worked perfectly for me and took me everywhere spot on. I used T-Mobile in the states and was able to get the free international data roaming. However, the speeds were a tad slow for my liking so I bought a local Siminn sim card for approximately $20 for 5GB of data. I had reception everywhere I went and that is amazing considering how rural the country is.
Car insurance is a toss up. I can see alot of opportunities of accidents happening. Gravel flinging at the windshield, slushy ground, high winds that can jolt the car. I did opt to get insurance just to be safe.
Overall, I highly recommend renting a car in Iceland. That way, you won't be under some tour's schedule and can be on your own timeline. All the attractions are very easy to get to and many roads lead up to the attractions. Additionally, when driving you can beat the tour buses and go when there isn't alot of people there. I rented a manual car. I think they may have automatic but be prepared that you might not get an automatic.
