Horse Trek in Mongolia | 4 day tour
#9 Kelit vaihtelevat paljon, joten lämmin kerrospukeutuminen on suositeltavaa.
#12 Vaelluksen varrella nukutaan paimentolaisperheiden jurtissa.

Horse Riding Tour in Mongolia | Travel Mongolia
Horse Riding in Mongolia is a HUGE item on Ed's Bucketlist. Luckily we were able to cross it off while we were travelling with Dragoman Tours!
Horseback riding for the two of us with our own guide was around $25. It SO worth it. As we started the horse riding lesson our guide led the horses so we felt totally safe. As we became confident throughout the horse riding lesson our guide took off the lead and let us walk and trot comfortably
#travelmongolia #dragomantours #mongolia
We took this lesson at the Tsenkher hot springs. It definitely feels like a secret Mongolian spot that only locals know about. We were very fortunate to visit.
Prior to the lesson, we were able to visit a Mongolian family that live the nomad lifestyle. The Tsenkher hot springs is an incredible spot to visit if you travel in Mongolia. It's one of the main stops on the Dragoman Mongolia tour that we are on. It's truly beautiful here. I can imagine it's somewhere that old mate Genghis Khan would want to visit.
FULL PLAYLIST:
Mongolia is a country like no other. It's like travelling back in time. With a population of only 3 million - half of which live in the only major city (Ulan-Bator) - Mongolia can be difficult to travel. With this in mind, we jumped on a tour with a UK based company - Dragoman Overland. It was SO worth it. These guys were great. We can't imagine seeing and experiencing Mongolia any other way.

Mongolia solo horse trekking
Shot on the 4k Action Cam from Sony. Check it out at
Overcoming a fear of horses I travelled to Mongolia to purchase some horses and teach myself how to ride solo through the mountains. With little communication other than hand gestures and a sketch book made my travels very interesting. With the kindness of the Kazakh and Mongolian I got taught falconry from the eagle hunters and horse mastery.

INTRO:
Mongolia is known as the land of the horse, and with over 3 million of them roaming the steppes today, there are actually more horses than there are people. These semi-wild beasts find their own food and shelter and then are wrangled up when they’re needed - in this case, to carry 8 foreigners over a mountain pass. There is a saying that goes, “A Mongol without a horse is like a bird without the wings” so we were excited to see the wilderness as the Mongolians intended it to be seen. On horseback.
LAKE CAMP:
What a journey so far, physically I was in pain, but mentally I’ve never been more clear and present and the remoteness of where we were began to sink in. Before this trip, the thought of a nomadic lifestyle sounded romantic to a former office-dweller like myself but somewhere along the path I realized how it’s more than just wanting it, you have to grow up with the connection to land and livestock they way this family has for generations to survive. The mother of this camp was born here and due to give birth again any day, self-reliant, tough as nails and teaching the next generation of nomads to be just as hard-working and tough.
WRESTLING:
Wresting in Mongolia is a big deal… it was once used by Genghis Kahn as a military training tactic in order to increase the strength and battle readiness of his troops. Today, it’s the most popular national sport, and each year a large number of competitions are held throughout the country. The rules of the game are simple, although they do vary slightly by region. There are no time limits, age limits, or weight limits and If you can get your opponent to touch the ground with any body part other than their feet, you win.

When most peole think about Mongolia , they think of Genghis Khan the famous and feared founder
Of Mongol Empire. However there’s a lot more to this remote , landlocked nation than that : from its wast rugged expanses to the northern mountains and southern Gobi Desert , Mongolia is land of contrasts , steeped in history and influenced by its links to bordering countries China and Russia .
The Majority of Mongolia’s three million population live in the capital city. Ulaanbaatar and the rest of the country , although large , is sparsely populated. The country is stil many respects a nomadic culture . buddhism is the country’s main religion and Mongolian is the only official language.

First Time Riding A Horse & It Got Stuck In A Swamp... Mongolia Horseback Adventure
A two day horse trek in remote northern Mongolia to reach the last reindeer nomads. One of the biggest adventures of our lives. Horse trekking through the swamps and mountains definitely was a big challenge, more difficult than we expected.
We started in Ulan Bator from where we took a bus to Murun, which took 14 hours. In Murun we had to wait for two days to get a 12 hour bus to reach Tsaganuur. In Tsaganuur our horse family awaited us. For two days we trekked through rough terrains as we left the northernmost village of Mongolia in search of some of the last reindeer nomads.

Two amazing weeks in Northern Mongolia through the mountains of Khoridol Saridag to Khovsgol Nuur. We had arrived there after travelling overland from Singapore to Mongolian border, we hitched across and made our way to Ulaanbaatar and then via Moron into the mountains. Yuin and Dawn joined the adventure and showed us how to play hacky sack. Urnaa from Wind Horse Travels organized a great tour for us and made sure, we came back happy and impressed to Ulaanbaatar.

Mongolia Horse Trekking 2019
This is just my phone journal from the last summer horse trekking to the Eight Lakes of Khuis. It was 2019 late June and we had 3 guests from the USA and wanted to have a soft-adventure in the wilderness. The horse trek suppose to be easy riding. We left the Ulaanbaatar early morning and drove for 8 hours and arrived the Shuranga valley. The driving was tough but worth to do. The local nomads are super hospitable people.
We stayed at the Eco ger camp. On the next morning the oriental breakfast was so yummy. Fresh butter cream spread on slice of bread was nothing to compare. We took off around 9 am and our luggage was packed on pack yaks. Our horses were small but strong. After the half day of the trek we got over the Shireet pass and the view was dramatic. We stayed over night in the Mongolian ger and had a Mongolian traditional feast. Everybody sings traditional folk song before drinking the vodka. We also tasted the home distilled yogurt vodka. It was smooth and mild. On the second day we continued our trek and headed back on the third day. Total 2 days of full horse trekking and 1 day Mongolian Nomads’ life style cultural experience was a perfect adventure for the soft adventurers.
