Horta (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈɔɾtɐ]) is a single municipality and city in the western part of the Archipelago of the Azores, encompassing the island of Faial. The population in 2011 was 14,994, in an area of 173.06 km². The city of Horta itself has a population of about 7,000. Its name is a transliteration of the last name of a Flemish explorer from the 15th century: Josse van Huerter.
The city contains the Horta Regional Museum which has a permanent exhibit, Exhibition of Capelinhos Volcano, that details in photographs the recent (1957) volcanic eruption in the Azores. The museum also contains a large collection of scale models of buildings, ships, and people carved from fig kernels carved by Euclides Rosa.

O FIFA World Football Museum, em Zurique, na Suíça, acolheu uma prova de vinhos, pela primeira vez na história. E os eleitos foram os 'alentejanos'.
E foi o Alentejo, a fazer essa estreia com um evento que recebeu algumas centenas de convidados, entre os quais o presidente da organização máxima para o futebol, Gianni Infantino.
Gianni Infantino provou os vinhos dos 12 produtores representados: Adega Mayor, Anta de Cima – Argila Wines, Adega Cooperativa da Vidigueira, Encostas de Alqueva, Enoforum – Carmim Group, Herdade do Esporão, Herdade da Mingorra, Herdade dos Grous, Lusovini, Monte do Álamo, Reynolds Wine Growers e Susana Esteban.
Já o suíço Thomas Vaterlaus, jornalista e crítico de vinhos, conduziu uma masterclass que percorreu “dois séculos e cinco décadas de Vinhos do Alentejo”, e que incluiu rótulos históricos e marcantes da região portuguesa, como o Mouchão tinto 1963, Borba Reserva tinto 1970 e Quinta do Carmo Garrafeira tinto 1986, entre outros.
“Apresentar os vinhos de uma das mais reconhecidas Regiões Vitivinícolas de Portugal e do Mundo numa cidade tão cosmopolita como Zurique atraiu um público profissional e consumidor diversificado oriundo dos 5 continentes”, afirmou Francisco Mateus, Presidente da CVRA, acrescentando que “a escolha do local, o Museu do Futebol Mundial, mostra que o Alentejo e os seus Produtores têm uma permanente capacidade para surpreender, atrair e conquistar novos profissionais e consumidores. A presença neste mercado estratégico sairá, certamente, reforçada”, disse Francisco Mateus.
A prova de vinhos do Alentejo no FIFA World Football Museum, realizada esta quarta-feira, contou com mais de 300 convidados, foi promovida pela CVRA – Comissão Vitivinícola Regional Alentejana, com produção da EV-Essência do Vinho.

Welcome to the Beautiful Vila de Redondo in Portugal
Vila de Redondo is a beautiful Alentejo village, the county seat, much famed for its products in clay and for its wine quality.
The entire region of Redondo presents traces of occupation since ancient times of prehistory, with numerous megalithic monuments of great interest, such as Antas Vidigueira, the hiver, Sale of the Duke and the Candeeira, among many others.
Its calm and simple streets, low white houses decorated with a cheerful color range, breathe the peace of mind of the Alentejo region, in interesting monuments such as the Castle, the Mother Church (sixteenth and seventeenth centuries), the Mercy in beautiful Manueline style, the Calvary (seventeenth century) or of Our Lady of Health of the seventeenth century, as well as the precious Pelourinho the village.
The combination of fertile granite and schist soils enable the production of one of the greatest assets of the region: wine, this being one of the regions of Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOC) in the country.
The tradition in Redondo is still what it was, taking place today craft with good old techniques that characterize it, such as the production of utilitarian and decorative pieces in clay, with very own decorations, some with floral motifs, other depicting the daily life of the rural Alentejo.
These two important types of typical Redondo production are evident in the two museums dedicated to them: the Wine Museum and the Clay Museum.
Very close to the village is the beautiful Convento de São Paulo, also known as Convento de São Paulo da Serra de Ossa, or Convento da Serra D'Ossa, located in the Serra de Ossa, one convent building of the fourteenth century, nowadays transformed into a reputed luxury hotel.
Redondo é uma bonita vila Alentejana, sede de concelho, muito afamado pelos seus produtos em barro e pelo seu vinho de qualidade.
Toda a região do Redondo apresenta vestígios de ocupação desde longínquos tempos da pré-história, com numerosos monumentos megalíticos de grande interesse, como as Antas da Vidigueira, do Colmeeiro, da Venda do Duque e as da Candeeira, entre tantos outros.
As suas ruas calmas e simples, de baixo casario alvo, decorado com uma alegre faixa colorida, respiram a paz de espírito da região Alentejana, por entre interessantes monumentos como o Castelo, as Igrejas Matriz (séculos XVI e XVII), a da Misericórdia num bonito estilo Manuelino, a do Calvário (século XVII) ou a de Nossa Senhora da Saúde do século XVII, bem como o precioso Pelourinho da vila.
A combinação de férteis solos de granito e xisto possibilitam a produção de um dos maiores bens da região: o Vinho, sendo esta umas das regiões de Denominação de Origem Controlada (D.O.C.) do País.
A tradição em Redondo ainda é o que era, produzindo-se ainda hoje artesanato com técnicas bem antigas que o caracterizam, como é o caso da produção de peças utilitárias e decorativas em barro, com decorações muito próprias, algumas com motivos florais, outras retratando o quotidiano da vida rural Alentejana.
Estes dois importantes tipos de produção típica do Redondo estão patentes nos dois Museus a eles dedicados: o Museu do Vinho e o Museu Barro.
Bem próximo da Vila fica o bonito Convento de São Paulo, também conhecido por Convento de São Paulo da Serra de Ossa, ou Convento da Serra D’Ossa, situado na Serra de Ossa, um edifício conventual do século XIV, hoje em dia transformado num reputado hotel de luxo.

The Azores, an autonomous region of Portugal, are an archipelago in the mid-Atlantic. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met with the members of the Pinnacle Club of ASEAN, a gathering of retired defense and security chiefs from Southeast Asia, in a courtesy call in Malacañan Palace.
During the meeting, the Chief Executive underscored the contribution of the retired officials that helped maintain the security and peace with the Southeast Asia region.
“I’d like to welcome you all. It’s an honor to be in the midst of people who have a strong knowledge of what is the condition of our world today,” he said.
Formalized in 2014, the Pinnacle Club of ASEAN aims to provide a social platform for the gathering of retired defense chiefs and other influential officials related to the security and defense of the region. The club is currently comprised of around 70 members coming from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Department of Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) officer-in-charge and Undersecretary Eduardo Año, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr., and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero, and other high-ranking government and military officials accompanied President Duterte during the meeting.

East Timor (/-ˈtiːmɔːr/ (About this soundlisten)) or Timor-Leste (/tiˈmɔːr ˈlɛʃteɪ/; Tetum: Timór Lorosa'e), officially the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (Portuguese: República Democrática de Timor-Leste, Tetum: Repúblika Demokrátika Timór-Leste), is a country in Southeast Asia.
It comprises the eastern half of the island of Timor, the nearby islands of Atauro and Jaco, and Oecusse, an exclave on the northwestern side of the island surrounded by Indonesian West Timor.
East Timor was colonized by Portugal in the 16th century, and was known as Portuguese Timor until 28 November 1975, when the Revolutionary Front for an Independent East Timor (Fretilin) declared the territory's independence.
It was invaded and occupied by the Indonesian military,.The Indonesian occupation of East Timor was characterized by a highly violent, decades-long conflict between separatist groups (especially Fretilin) and the Indonesian military.
In 1999, following the United Nations-sponsored act of self-determination, Indonesia relinquished control of the territory. East Timor became the first new sovereign state of the 21st century on 20 May 2002 and joined the United Nations and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries. In 2011, East Timor announced its intention to become the eleventh member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

On its 20th anniversary, Companhia Instável and Drumming GP, directed by Miquel Bernat, challenged the rewarded choreographer Roberto Olivan to create a bold performance for 6 interpreters: a show of percussion and contemporary dance interacting together, on stage, with musics of Michael Gordon.
ROBERTO OLIVAN'S WORDS:
TIMBER is a journey to the depths of our existence, a visit to each of the corners we have systematically stopped visiting because of fear, ignorance or abandonment of ourselves, thus disconnecting ourselves from what unites to our own unique and authentic nature.
TIMBER is a ritual call that demands an urgent response to the self-destruction we have slowly built over the years. The premises and values that we have considered valid indicators of progress are worth nothing. The rhythms that resonate in the woods repetitively creating a hypnotic trance symbolizes the desire to break through the barriers that limit the human being, diving into the freedom each one sees in his own way, waving his own flag.
TIMBER is a final attempt to recover our connection with a living world that has its own dynamics governed by light and darkness, day and night, by the time that has its own rhythm beyond our control. To accept or to die. To enter or to exit. To integrate or to divide.
BIOGRAPHY ROBERTO OLIVAN
This international creator started his training at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. The Belgian capital was the key point in the strengthening of his artistic career. He took his first steps as a professional dancer at Rosas dance company, directed by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. He also performed under the direction of renowned directors such as Robert Wilson, Tom Jansen and Josse de Pauw.
Currently, Roberto is the director of the dance company R.O.P.A. – Roberto Olivan Performing Arts. The company was created in Brussels in 2001. He also is the artistic director and founder of the Festival Deltebre Dansa, an international event that has taken place annually since 2004.
Olivan creates commissioned works for dance companies, universities, dance institutions and schools all over the world. His career has been very versatile. In recent years, he has been teaching at workshops around the world and has worked as a choreographer and performer in the film industry.
He has been the artistic director of important cultural events and on the jury at dance competitions. Olivan has also participated in dance sectoral meetings held by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Catalonia and he is a member of the Advisory Council for Culture in Terres de l’Ebre region, also overseen by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Catalonia.
His career has been recognised all over the world. He has received the following awards: EFFE AWARD 2019-2010 for the creation of Festival Deltebre Dansa (Belgium), Premi Nacional de Cultura 2014 (Catalonia, Spain), Ciutat de Barcelona 2013 (Catalonia, Spain), Sebastià Gasch FAD Awards Of Paratheatrical Arts 2012 (Catalonia, Spain), Prix SACD de la Création Chorégraphique 2001 from the Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques (Belgium) as well as several other prize nominations.
ABOUT COMPANHIA INSTÁVEL
Companhia Instável is focused in the development of contemporary dance and in the creation of new opportunities for contemporary dance performers. For that reason, each year, a renowned choreographer is invited to create a new piece with Portuguese and International dancers that are chosen by audition. Nigel Charnock, Javier de Frutos, Wim Vandekeybus, Rui Horta, Hofesh Shechter, Tiago Rodrigues, Emmanuelle Huynh, Laurence Yadi/Nicolas Cantillon and Willi Dorner are some of the previously invited choreographers.

Le musée de l'École de Nancy est l'un des rares musées français dédié à un mouvement artistique : l'Art nouveau nancéien.
A visual tour of a Moscow art-nouveau gem
This fascinating art-nouveau mansion was designed by Fyodor Shekhtel for the family of young industrialist Stepan Ryabushinsky in 1900-1903. The two-storey building, lined with ceramic tiles and richly decorated with mosaic friezes, has four different facades and is completely asymmetrical.
The original interiors of Ryabushinsky’s mansion were largely destroyed during the early Soviet period, when it contained several state institutions. However, the main features have survived to this day.
The central staircase is reminiscent of a wave delivering a medusa-shaped lamp up to the first floor. The lounge ceiling is decorated with stucco depictions of plants covered with large crawling snails, while salamanders and lilies wind around the capital of the column on the second floor. On the secret third floor, Shekhtel designed a house chapel for Ryabushinsky’s family, who were Old Believers.
After the revolution, the building housed the People’s Committee of Foreign Affairs and then for a time the Main Administration of the State Publishing House, which was visited by poets Sergey Yesenin and Vladimir Mayakovsky. In 1931, Maksim Gorky returned to the USSR from Italy and stayed at Ryabushinsky’s former estate.
Today the mansion is home to the Maxim Gorky House Museum and a memorial library.
