The hoseni dalan (Bengali: হোসেনী দালান) was originally built during the later half of the Mughal rule (17th century) in Dhaka. It was built as the Imambara or house of the Imam (religious leader) of the Shia Muslim community. Hussaini Dalan serves as the main Hussainiya of Dhaka, or venue for majlis or gatherings held during the month of Muharram, tenth day religious gathering commemorates the martyrdom of Hussain, the grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam).
Dhaka Huseni Dalan Imam bara bomb blast on Shia in Ashura Day
A heinous bomb attack on a massive gathering of Shia Muslims preparing for their annual Tajia procession on the day of holy Ashura in old part of Dhaka has shocked the nation.
A teenage boy was killed and about 100 others were wounded when three bombs went off at Huseni Dalan, a 17th century Shia shrine, in the early hours of Saturday 24 October,2015. Later, police recovered two unexploded bombs from the site. This attack is first of its kind on the Shia in the 400-year history of Dhaka.

Security up in Hossaini Dalan after blasts at Shia gathering
Law-enforcing agencies have strengthened security in Hossaini Dalan after blasts at Shia gathering on Ashura. The blasts early on Saturday left one killed and over 100 injured.
Blasts at Shia gathering in Old Dhaka
Explosions at a gathering of some 25,000 Shias before Ashura procession in Old Dhaka’s Hussaini Dalan have left at least one dead and 75 wounded. This video shows victims being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Ceded to the British in 1765, it became the capital of East Pakistan in 1947 and the present-day republic of Bangladesh in 1971.
It is in its territory the city of Bashundhara City that is the biggest commercial center of South Asia.
