Hospital Cave, Cat Ba Island, with the hilarious Mr Cuong - Vietnam
It may lack the solemnity that might be appropriate at a Vietnam War era historic site. It definitely lacks information. But Mr Cuong's tour of Cat Ba Island's Hospital Cave is an absolute delight on account of his friendly good humour - and the bizarre plastic machine gun that he uses as a prop. Hospital Cave and Cat Ba Island were part of Vietnam's defenses of the nearby port city of Haiphong. Like Haiphong, Cat Ba was bombed by the US during the Vietnam War.

Hospital Cave and Best Beach on Cat Ba Island
Visited Hospital Cave which was a old Vietnam war bunker and hospital, also went to a few of the beaches on Cat Ba Island and ended the day with a nice sunset cruise down the coast!

INFORMACIÓN DEL LUGAR
Cat Ba es la isla más grande de la bahía y aproximadamente la mitad de su superficie está cubierta por un Parque nacional, que es el hogar de una amenazado primate llamado Trachypithecus poliocephalus. La isla tiene una gran variedad de ecosistemas naturales, tanto marinos como terrestres, dando lugar a tasas increíblemente altas de biodiversidad.
Es una de las islas pobladas en Bahía de Ha Long, con unos 13.000 habitantes que viven en seis municipios diferentes, y más de 4.000 habitantes que viven en aldeas de pescadores en la costa.
Isla de Cat Ba significa Isla Mujeres (Cat significa: arena y Ba: mujeres).
En 1986, 98 km² (aproximadamente un tercio de la superficie total de la isla) fue declarada Parque nacional, la primera área decretada como protegida en Vietnam que incluyó partes marinas.
EXPERIENCIA
Continuando nuestra aventura por Vietnam, hemos llegado a la Isla de Cat Ba, un lugar muy impresionante al estar en la Bahia de Ha Long. Nuestra estadia fue de 3 dias y una de las cosas que hicimos, fue ir a este hospital que se utilizo durante la guerra.
Esta cueva esta compuesta de tres niveles, de los cuales el primero, es donde se encontraba la entrada principal, que estaba protegida por una puerta de acero, para detener los disparos que pudieron haberse hecho. Al entrar, puedes ver diversos cuartos, donde se hacian cirugías, se curaban a los enfermos, hacer conferencias, entre otros.
En el segundo nivel, es en medio de la cueva en si, es un lugar de película, bastante impresionante. En este lugar se reunian para dar prdenes a los soldados antes de salir, tambien los protegía durante la explosiónes de las bombas. Ya el tercer nivel era donde se encontraba el general, que tenia una salida de emergencia, en caso de que soldados se infiltraran a la cueva.

Een rondleiding door de Hospital Cave in Vietnam. Deze grot werd als safe haven en ziekenhuis gebruikt tijdens de oorlog met Amerika. Door de ligging was dit de perfecte plek, omdat de grot bestendig is tegen bommen.

One of the many hospitals that were built inside caves during the war against the Americans. This one is in the beautiful Cat Ba island, 4 hours from Vietnam's capital (Hanoi). Around 200 soldiers were brought here during the war time.
You may be asking why the screams in the video. So I go into this very dark and humid cave and hear my friend telling to turn around. What do I see? A guy pointing a riffle at me! WTF!! It was a joke, the gun was a plastic toy ...

After leaving school we worked for 9 months and saved enough money to pay for our first travelling adventure. We plan to travel through India, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand and anywhere else we can afford!

Hello my name is Jacob. I run a Youtube Channel documenting all of my travels around the world. It has been my dream to travel the world. I am planning to travel continuously through working holiday visas and working in different places while I travel to keep my budget topped up. In this video I am exploring Cat Ba Island. I go to a couple of caves and go to the national park and get a good view of the Island. Then I fail at getting a Time lapse.

I use a GoPro Hero 4 to record my Vlogs. I intend to upgrade me gear as I travel. Will Probably a DSLR camera when I arrive in Australia on my working holiday visa.
I use to be a mechanic and decided enough was enough, I’m not wasting my life doing something I semi enjoy when I could do something I love and admire!
So far I have been to Japan and South Korea, China and Hong Kong on this trip, currently I’m in Vietnam. After Vietnam I am travelling to, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indionesia. Thats the plan anyway. When the time comes and the money is no more it’s off to Australia on a working holiday visa.
