Turquoise River Azusa crystal clear, the Hotaka Mountain Range and Kappabashi wooden bridge are the iconic image of Kamikochi so finally in this video we get to see these in different lights, early morning with ice crystals on the surrounding plant life, sparkling in the warm sun and blue sky and then again in copper tones and scattered clouds. We get to meet a cute ???? birdie doing a crazy boat race on a pond chasing fishes probably, and get to try the famous Nagano Apples baked in Shinshu style that is best at preserving the natural flavor. Kamikochi and all the Swiss style hotels are now already closed down as I'm winter the snow there is huge and all roads closed down too. But in spring they will reopen and come back to life and hopefully we can go again to this hidden gem of the Japan Alps! Easy to get here from Tokyo by Highway Bus, with the Alpico Line for around $65 one way. All hotels are quite expensive starting at more than $200 per person but there are fancy & clean dormitory private beds for around $110 including dinner and breakfast! Also a large camp site and many more options when in season! I can't wait to meet again the kind-hearted staff of my Alpen Hotel who made my stay so memorable!!!

Kamikochi is a scenic spot in the upstream of the Azusa River in the southern part of the Hida Mountains in western Nagano.
The altitude is about 1,500m.
It is a part of the Chubu(middle) Mountain National Park, and it is a famous spot for viewing the hotaka mountain range and Yakedake.
In particular, the scenery from Kappa Bridge has a great contrast between Mt. Hotaka and Azusa River, and many tourists from overseas visit.

A hot spring resort ♨️ on a plateau surrounded by the Northern Alps ????????.
The Oku-Hida Spa Village has been designated as a National Hot Spring Health Resort by the Japanese government (Ministry of the Environment), as its beautiful natural environment had been protected and it was ideal for convalescent purposes. Shin-Hotaka Hot Spring is the most distant of this cluster of hot springs. An abundant source of warm water wells up in the invigorating surroundings of this plateau nestled amid the towering peaks of the Northern Alps, and has soothed away the exhaustion of many a mountain climber since ancient times. Rather than being a secluded hot spring, it is more like a resort, with a row of hotels and guest houses standing amid a forest of white birch. The hotels each have outdoor baths to which a variety of original touches have been added, and you can enjoy spectacular views of Mount Yari and Mount Kasa, among other peaks of the Northern Alps, as you bathe.

Kamikochi is a about 15 kilometer long plateau in the Azusa River Valley, about 1500 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by tall mountains.
Part of the Chubu Sangaku National Park, Kamikochi has only been moderately developed with six hotels, several souvenir shops, mountain huts and hiking trails. Private cars are not allowed to enter Kamikochi, and access is only possible by bus or taxi.
In the center of Kamikochi, a short walk from the bus terminal, stands the Kappabashi (Kappa Bridge). From the Kappabashi, hiking trails lead up and down the valley and towards the summits of the surrounding mountains.
The simplest way to enjoy a day in Kamikochi is by hiking the trails along Azusa River from Taisho Pond to Myojin Bridge. It is a mostly flat area and no hiking experience is needed and it takes only a few hours of time. However, the climbs to the surrounding peaks, are more challenging and only recommended between mid June and mid September.

その素晴らしさが明治時代の英国人宣教師ウォルター・ウェストンによって世に紹介されて以来、上高地のかがやく高峰や清き流れ、そして神秘の湖水は、変わらぬ姿で人々を迎え続けています。
その美しい自然や新鮮な空気を守るためにマイカー規制がされているため、上高地へはバスでアクセスします。松本方面から向かう場合、松本バスターミナルからの直通バスを利用するか、新島々駅まで電車で行きそこでバスに乗り換えます。また沢渡（さわんど）まで車で行き、そこからバスを利用する事も可能です。

It is a mountain resort representative of Japan designated as a cultural property of the country (special scenic spot / special natural treasure) as part of Chubu Mountain National Park. There are 1.4 million hikers and mountain climbers visiting yearly.
In addition, it is also becoming a mountain climbing base to the Hotaka mountain ranch popular with mountaineers and Lanugatake, so in the summer season, it will show a lot of bustle with tourists and climbers.
Kiyomizu Azusa river flows, and the 3000 m class North Alps such as Hotaka mountains and Yakedake mountain stands. This landscape is truly moving. It is climate that it is easy to spend around 22 ℃ even in summer.
On 6 June 1914 (Taisho 4), the Azusa river was dammed by the massive earth and sand flow caused by the massive explosion of Yakedake. In the meantime the water reached Kamikochi hot spring, Taisho pond was born.
Since its wonderfulness was introduced to the world by British missionary Walter Weston in the Meiji Era, the Takamine of Kamikochi, the refreshing tide, the mysterious lake continue to greet people with unchanging figures.
Access to the Kamikochi bus by bus is done because my car regulation is done to protect its beautiful nature and fresh air. When heading from Matsumoto, take a direct bus from the Matsumoto Bus Terminal, or take a train to Nijima Station to transfer to the bus. You can also go by car to Sawatari (Sawando) and use the bus from there.

TAKAYAMA || EP 7 || Renting a car in Takayama for our amazing Okuhida road trip
Okuhida is a rustic region of Gifu Prefecture in the mountains of the Northern Japan Alps. Technically part of Takayama City, it took us 2 hour car ride to get to our hot spring hotel in Okuhida, just across the border from Kamikochi and Nagano Prefecture.
The area is famous as a hot spring or Onsen (open air baths with nice views) destination and offers many attractive outdoor baths with views of the surrounding mountains which I’ll show you in my other video, so be sure to subscribe to my channel.
