Yutoku Inari Shrine in 4K - Kashima, Saga - 祐徳稲荷神社 - Japan As It Truly Is
Yutoku Inari Shrine is where your dreams of Japan become real. Here's the shrine, garden, and summit - what others left out.
Yutoku Inari Shrine (or Yutoku Inari Jinja) is one of the most beautiful of the Inari shrines, with all the torii tunnels you could want and a complete lack of all the tourist mobs getting in your way.
Yutoku Inari Shrine is widely regarded as one of the Top 3 Inari Shrines in the country. And you can easily see why here. This was taken at one of the best times of year to visit - with the hydrangea and irises exploding in color in front of you.
Yutoku Inari was established in 1687, and one of its most striking characteristics is its main shrine on a massive wooden scaffolding 18m (59 ft) above the ground.
Yūtoku Inari Shrine is most easily reached by car (free parking), or by taxi from Hizen-Kashima or Hizen-Hama Station on the Nagasaki main line. But a cheaper way is by bus from Hizen-Kashima Stn (Bus platform #3). Yūtoku Inari can also make an excellent side trip while going to see Nagasaki City. For those who need it, there is also elevator to take you up to the main shrine from the bottom.
The way up goes from the main shrine to the top Okunoin, which gives a magnificent view over the area, and is a quiet, peaceful place to relax. That said, the rocky and craggy stairs going up can be very strenuous. But while shooting this and feeling like my heart was about to burst, along came a young Japanese lady who just glided past me in high heels.
The official shrine website is at
Admission is free; the garden is 200 yen.
Two other big Inari Shrines you should not miss are the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto (the grand-daddy of them all):
and for another beautiful experience without the tourist hordes, see Taikodani Inari Shrine in Tsuwano, Shimane:

KARATSU KUNCHI Festival (With English subtitles. Please turn on the subtitle feature.)
Karatsu Kunchi is an annual Autumn festival held at Karatsu Shrine in the city of Karatsu from the 2nd to the 4th of November. Kunchi refers to Autumn festivals held around Northern Kyushu . The Hikiyama Festival of Karatsu Kunchi was designated as an ”Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property” by the Japanese government in 1980 and an ”Intangible Cultural Heritage” by UNESCO in 2016.
Our 14 magnificent floats, or Hikiyama, are finished with Japanese lacquer and come in various forms such as lions and samurai helmets. These floats are carried in parades through the old castle town in Karatsu to the chants of ”En-ya, En-ya!” and” Yoisa, Yoisa!”and accompanied by Japanese bells, flutes, and drums. Each float stands about 7 meters high, weighs approximately 2 to 3 tons, and is gorgeously decorated with various colors including gold and silver.

This is the third day of our Kyushu trip. This video will take you to Yutoku Inari, the large shrine in Saga. We started from Saga station then stop at Hizen Kashima station after that we took the bus around 15 minutes then arrived. The bus fee is 320 yen per person per trip. Today is Monday so we saw only few people coming. But it was good, it was so peaceful. We climbed up to the top of mountain where is the highest point of this shrine. The view there was so nice plus the cold wind. It was worth to be there.
After thta we went to another small shrine near by. I mean it is in the same area of South east Saga. Because in summer the day is longer than winter so we have more time left. We go to Tara station then walked around 10 minutes. The way from station and The shrine there were nothing. So quiet, once we came to the Kaichu shrine we could see few people were taking photo. But I love there. I was so happy to be there. I got nice photos from this place a lot. We were there for only 45 minutes. It was too hot to be outside. We made our stop at supermarket near by before taking train go back to Hizen Kashima and then Saga.

We woke up and left the apartment pretty late today. I have been waiting for this time. I planned to eat the famous calamari sashimi at this morning market but... once we arrived there, it was late already and I was too hungry to control myself not to eat. I eat many snacks until I felt so full and couldn't eat anything anymore. I found the calamari sashimi but felt so sorry that I couldn't make it. I will come back here one day. To completed my goal.

EXPLORING A JAPANESE ATLANTIS ISLAND CAVE|Day 89 - Saga
The Nanatsugama Caves, designated as a natural monument of Japan, are spectacular caves formed from the infamous rough waves of the Genkai Sea pounding against the cliffs and eroding them away over many long years. As the Japanese name suggests, the Nanatsugama Caves consists of seven caves in a row formed by deep erosion into the cliff face, and this scenery is one which strikes onlookers by the marvels of nature. The largest of the caves has an opening of 3 meters and depth of 110 meters. The caves can be enjoyed leisurely on a cruise boat. There is a grassy plateau above the caves, with a lookout and walking trail, and it is often buzzing with numerous sightseers. The area around Nanatsugama is also popular as a fishing destination. Legend says that Empress Jingu discarded an earthen vessel here that was memorabilia for her troops winning the war with Korea, and there is a shrine here called Dokizaki Shrine which worships her.

Float Festival Sianandjim's photos around Karatsu, Japan

Entry from: Karatsu, Japan
Entry Title: Float Festival
Entry:
If our time in Beppu was spent mainly relaxing and enjoying the tranquility, our day trip to the small coastal city of Karatsu couldn't have been more different. Jim had been keen to visit the city, not to visit any particular sights, but to see one of Kyushu's, if not Japan's, most fun festivals. The Karatsu Kunchi Festival is held every year from 2nd to 4th November - Jim had read that day two was the most exciting time to visit as the colourful festival floats are paraded through the streets so we made our way there along with half of Kyushu's population. The streets were packed, although the atmosphere was great as most of the crowds were made up of families with small children. The three day extravaganza is the autumn festival of the Karatsu shrine. The shrine was established in 715 BC and has been worshipped by the people ever since, although during the 200 year long feudal period (17th and 18th centuries), it was closed to commoners except for the time of the Kunchi festival. The tradition of the Hikiyama floats started when the residents of the Katanamachi district of the city made Akajishi (the red lion float) in 1819 and dedicated it to the God and the shrine. Over the next 50 years the other 13 areas of the city each set about making their own floats - they've been passed down from generation to generation, and with a few repairs along the way have survived mainly intact. The floats are paraded through in the order they were built - they're pulled along by teams of children and men from the different districts who all wear cotton kimono of different colours and patterns to symbolise their team. Each procession is accompanied by lots of chanting, shouting and pipes, whistles and drums from the musicians who are carried along sat on the underside of the float. These things are really quite big, with some of them bearly clearing the overhead cables strung across the road. To highlight the different nature of the 14 districts of the city each float's design is unique - there's a giant Tai or Sea Bream to represent the Uoyamachi or fish market area of town, a Warrior Helmet of Minamote Yoshitsune built by the people of Gofukumachi - there was a famous armoury in this part of the city so they built the float accordingly. Some designs lend more to folklore or religion than regional identity - The Hoomaru or Phoenix Boat echoes the many pictures of Phoenixes visible in Shinto and Buddhist shrines in Japan. They're really well looked after and quite elaborate - many have Himalyan Yak hair on them, which isn't easy to come by in Japan. Others have travelled to different festivals around the world - as far a field as Honolulu, Disneyland, Rotterdam and Nice. After watching the parade we marched down to a giant sand pit on the other side of town to wait for the floats to arrive. Each one took it in turns to hurry down the street, passed the thousands of spectators, and dash onto the sand. The wheels invariably got stuck and it took near Herculean efforts to get them moving again. The crowds loved it - clapping each one in, until all 14 of them were neatly arranged and the float bearers over 18 cracked open the sake to celebrate a job well done.
