Riga/House of the Blackheads:
House of the Blackheads is a building situated in the old town of Riga, Latvia.The original building was erected during the first third of the 14th century for the Brotherhood of Blackheads, a guild for unmarried German merchants in Riga. Major works were done in the years 1580 and 1886, adding most of the ornamentations.Wikipedia
The structure was bombed to a ruin by the Germans June 28, 1941 and the remains demolished by the Soviets in 1948. The current reconstruction was erected from 1995 to 1999

It is a medieval church with a high steeple. From its upper tower one can see the whole city and beyond. The House of Blackheads is a Gothic-style property rebuilt after the II World war and it is the official house of the president.

This is one of the rooms in the House of Blackheads. It was originally built back in the 14th century and is very impressive. This room is huge. I had it all to myself, hence my whistling, or attempt at whistling, and was wonderful. The entire building is impressive. It has a cellar you get to go through as well as the history of the building and the Blackheads. Really a neat House. = )

House of the Blackheads (Latvian: Melngalvju nams, German: Schwarzhäupterhaus) is a building situated in the old town of Riga, Latvia. The original building was erected during the first third of the 14th century for the Brotherhood of Blackheads, a guild for unmarried merchants, shipowners, and foreigners in Riga. Major works were done in the years 1580 and 1886, adding most of the ornamentations. The sculptures were made by the workshop of August Volz.
The building was bombed to a ruin by the Germans on June 28, 1941 and the remains were demolished by the Soviets in 1948. The current reconstruction was erected from 1995 to 1999 by Valērijs Kargins, the president of Parex Bank.

This is some information from within the House of the Blackheads in Riga Latvia. This shows when it was first constructed, when it got bombed and when it was rebuilt. When you go inside you get to go down and see the foundation that was constructed at the time of the first build back in the 14th century. The insides are really neat and I would encourage everyone to see it. Very nice!!!

Walking in RIGA / Latvia - Old Town to Market Halls - 4K 60fps (UHD)
A winter walk in the windy Latvian capital. We are going from the train station over to the old town. No vlog, no intrusive faces or talking - just realtime walking enjoying the streets of Riga.
We head to the Riga castle and over a few Christmas markets. This walk follows many sights of Riga like the Freedom monument, Powder Tower, Swedish Gate. There is a lot of wind noise here sometimes - sorry about that.
I somehow missed a turn going to the House of the Blackheads. When you are there, make sure to stop by. I added a photo in the cover at least.
We end the walk strolling through the market halls and head back at the train station.
