Fasciné par les vieilles choses qui semblent sans valeur, Alex a passé sa jeunesse à fréquenter les brocantes et les encans. Ces dernières années, Alex Fida s'est intéressé aux vieux bâtiments tombés en ruines. Il a acheté trois bâtiments afin de les restaurer et donner une deuxième vie. Sa plus récente acquisition, House of Falconer, est une résidence construite en 1858 au centre-ville de Picton.
