City in Japan
Morioka is a city on Japan’s Honshu island. Iwate Park, known for its spring cherry blossoms and fall colors, is home to the ruins of 17th-century Morioka Castle.
Nearby, Ishiwarizakura is a centuries-old cherry tree growing from a cracked boulder. Hoonji Temple houses hundreds of Buddhist statues. Kaiunbashi Bridge offers views of Mount Iwate. To the west, there are hot springs at Tsunagi, on the shore of Gosho Lake.

Morioka Handi-Works Square ( Morioka City )
This is a facility where you can see, touch, and create various traditional craftworks and foods of Morioka. There are 2 main areas: the Workshop Area and the Exhibition Area. In the Workshop Area, there are 14 workshops where you can buy products, watch professional craftsmen at work, and get hands-on experience making original goods. An easy activity for starters is making Nambu sembei rice crackers, which is done in a similar manner to Belgian waffles. Another easy activity is putting flavored syrup on plain dango or dumplings. The dango store has very unique dango, such as cream dango and okaka ( dried bonito flakes ) dango. In the Exhibition Area, over 3,500 local specialties are sold. There is also a replica of a Nambu magariya house, a traditional L-shaped building in which a stable is joined to a house.

St.Hachiman Morioka Japan 盛岡八幡宮
There is Morioka Hachiman Shrine in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture.
Morioka Hachiman Shrine was erected by the 29th Shigenobu Nanbu in 1680, more than 300 years ago.
St. Hachiman is the street in front of Hachiman Shrine, and it was often used at work last month. As I walked, the cityscape was very beautiful and there was an emotion and atmosphere, so I went to shoot. It is different from the bustle during the day and during festivals.

Morioka Celebrating a culture of people and horses Journeys in Japan NHK WORLD On Demand NHK
Morioka developed as a castle town, the seat of the powerful Nanbu clan during the Edo Period [17th-19th centuries]. Even today, the city has many areas of historical interest, with numerous temples and traditional merchant houses that have survived.
Every year in early summer, a very distinctive event is held in Morioka. Called the Chagu Chagu Umako festival, it originated as an expression of appreciation for the hard work done by farm horses. As many as 100 horses take part in a parade through the streets, adorned with colorful costumes and numerous jingling bells.
On this episode of Journeys in Japan, Dean Newcombe visits a farmhouse where the horse is treated almost like a member of the family. He discovers the distinctive culture that has grown up from this close connection with horses.

???????? Iwate - Hiraizumi and Morioka 岩手県 - Amazing Travel Vid (HD)
World heritage sites at Hiraizumi and Morioka City.
Hiraizumi (平泉町 Hiraizumi-chō?) is a town located in Nishiiwai District, Iwate, Japan. It was the home of the Hiraizumi Fujiwaras for about 100 years in the late Heian era and most of the following Kamakura period. At the same time it served as the de facto capital of Oshu, an area containing nearly a third of the Japanese land area. At its height the population of Hiraizumi reached 50,000[1] or more than 100,000,[2] rivaling Kyoto in size and splendour.
Morioka (盛岡市 Morioka-shi?) is the capital city of Iwate Prefecture, Japan.
As of 2005, the city has an estimated population of 300,740 and a population density of 588.11 persons per km². The total area is 489.15 km².
Morioka was founded in 1597 by Nobunao, the 26th lord of the Nanbu clan, as a castle town. In 1655 Nanbu-han was divided into Morioka-han and Hachinohe-han. Its name was changed from 森岡 to 盛岡 (both read as Morioka) in 1683 when the population was 36,000. The city was designated the capital of Iwate on April 1, 1889.
