My Hermann Park Visit #hermannpark #houston
This time I visited one of biggest and most beautiful Park of Houston.
Hermann Park has a bountiful assortment of entertainment: a golf course, an outdoor theater, a jogging track, a beautiful rose garden, picnic spaces, a butterfly exhibit, and even a museum.
Hermann Park, presented to the City of Houston by George Hermann in 1914, is Houston's most historically significant public green space. Over the years, the Houston Zoo, Miller Outdoor Theatre, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Japanese Garden, Rose Garden and Hermann Park Golf Course, one of the first desegregated public golf courses in the United States, all have added to the Park's importance as a recreational destination.
Hermann Park, located minutes from downtown Houston, is a cultural and recreational hub surrounded by the Texas Medical Center, Rice University, the Museum District, and various residential neighborhoods. The entrance to the park is at the intersection of Main St. and Montrose Blvd. Upon arriving at Hermann Park the visitor is greeted by a statue of one of Houston's founders, General Sam Houston. He points in, towards the park, leading the park visitor in the direction of it's many amenities.
McGovern Centennial Gardens and the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion:
Renovated in 2015, the Centennial Garden has completely transformed the original 15-acre Garden Center site into a stunning attraction for Park visitors.The Gardens feature a Family Garden, Centennial Green, 30’ Garden Mount, Celebration Garden, Rose Garden, and the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion. As you explore the Gardens you will come across 490+ new trees of over 50 different species, 760 hedge shrubs, 350 new roses in the Rose Garden, 106,875 other shrubs and perennials of 199 varieties, 115 new camellias and 650 new azaleas in the Woodland Garden and so much more.
Japanese Garden:
An island of serenity nestled in a pine grove near the Sam Houston Monument, the garden was designed by world-renowned Japanese landscape architect Ken Nakajima and built to symbolize the friendship between the U.S. and Japan. Recognizing Houston's thriving Japanese community, the garden is built on 5 acres and combines a traditional Japanese Garden design with a touch of Texas.
Miller Outdoor Theatre:
A free, open-air theatre, host to a variety of multi-cultural events, allows visitors to catch a concert or play while picnicking in one of Houston’s most popular parks. Rain or shine, a wide variety of family-friendly performances include Cinco de Mayo, Fourth of July festivities, Shakespeare in the Park, the Houston Ballet, and the Houston Grand Opera performances.
Houston Zoo:
Founded in 1922, this recreational destination serves 1.4 million guests annually and is set in a lush 55-acre landscape right in the middle of Hermann Park. The Houston Zoo is home to more than 3,100 exotic animals representing more than 500 species. It is one of the largest collections in the nation and is considered one of the best-maintained zoos in the country.
Hermann Park Golf Course:
In 1922, the lush and scenic 18-hole Hermann Park Golf Course was built, starting a rich tradition of golfing excellence that has prospered for more than 70 years. The golf course was the first public golf course in America to welcome all races. Play golf under the majestic emerald canopy of stately oak trees and its manicured, plush Bermuda greens. Unwind on the airy veranda of the historic clubhouse, and satisfy your appetite with delicious food, combined with impeccable service.
McGovern Lake:
This 8-acre masterpiece is newly restored and expanded, creating two new islands for migratory birds, and a third island that the miniature train travels. Pedal boats are available to rent at the boathouse and catch-and-release fishing available for children under 12 and senior citizens over 65 at Bob's Fishing Pier.
Activities:
* Fishing
* Boating (pedal boat rentals available)
* Miniature Train
* Golf
* Japanese Garden
* Hike and Bike trails
* Miller Outdoor Theatre

MUFON CASE : 98237 Houston, TX, US ( February 1, 2018 )
Mutual UFO Network : Three objects floating close to each other and one went ahead faster leaving two going slowly.
Long Description of Sighting Report
I saw three objects floating in a consistent path from southeast to the northwest at a slow speed. All the same speed, then one went faster than the others and left at slightly higher speed. I got my phone and recorded two of the objects while then focusing in on one of them to zoom in as much as i could and followed it as far as possible before it disappeared behind buildings and trees.
The objects looked to be spinning, one in particular as I was focusing on, and changing shape while reflecting sunlight. The object reminded me of water on the space shuttle that was spinning around in a blob like manner.
We got in the car to try and find them but could not find anything in the sky thereafter. Upon closer examination of the object near the end of the video the object in slow motion seems to blink in and out of existence as it is simply not there for 1-3 frames and comes back in just before I move the camera and end the video. I do realize that there are some distortions and double images when I move the camera down a little but for the most part it is pretty stable.
I have attached the original video I recorded on my iPhone and the video where I tried to isolate the object in the bottom right in zoom-in.

It is off the attention more than anything in the sculpture park is the work of Matisse 's sculptures , known only as painter Matisse was very surprising to me . Houston Strong - DOERS Chevron Energy (2017)
Houston is a city of smart-working, hard-working DOERS. And all that doing takes energy. Chevron DOERS have been living and working here since 1902, making sure there’s enough energy to keep DOERS doing.
Houston is a magnet for DOERS – for talent, innovation and opportunity. It’s called the City With No Limits for a reason and for more than 8,000 Chevron DOERS, Houston is home. It’s where Chevron DOERS work, create and make a difference.
Chevron’s Houston story spans more than 100 years. We’ve been part of Houston’s world-leading energy sector since the first oil strike at Spindletop. In the century since, Chevron, through its Houston predecessor companies, changed the energy game – transforming energy development and redefining what’s possible in engineering. We did that here in Houston, powered by Houston DOERS.
From the world class Chevron Houston Marathon and Independence Plaza to the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show, Ballet and Opera, Chevron is a constant partner in Houston’s most celebrated institutions and notable happenings. We celebrate Houston’s diverse DOERS in business, medicine, sports, science and the arts and are proud to support them as they keep DOING what they do best. We believe in DOING our part to serve the city of Houston, its residents and communities.

About:
Houston is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Texas and the fourth-most populous city in the United States. With a census-estimated 2016 population of 2.303 million within an area of 667 square miles (1,730 km2). It is also the most populous and second largest (Jacksonville is first at 747 sq mi) city in the southern United States, and the seat of Harris County. Located in Southeast Texas near the Gulf of Mexico, it is the principal city of the Greater Houston metro area, which is the fifth-most populated MSA in the United States.
Houston was founded on August 30, 1836, near the banks of Buffalo Bayou (now known as Allen's Landing) and incorporated as a city on June 5, 1837. The city was named after former General Sam Houston, who was president of the Republic of Texas and had commanded and won at the Battle of San Jacinto 25 miles (40 km) east of where the city was established. The burgeoning port and railroad industry, combined with oil discovery in 1901, has induced continual surges in the city's population. In the mid-20th century, Houston became the home of the Texas Medical Center—the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions—and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located. ~ Wikipedia.org

Houston: Prophetic City – What Houston Can Teach the Rest of the Country
This year’s Anton-Lippitt lecture will focus on the theme of community engagement, citizenship, and partnerships.
The open keynote event features Stephen L. Klineberg, Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Rice University and the founding-director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research.
Houston clearly exemplifies the trends that are refashioning the social and political landscape across America. The new high-tech, knowledge-based, fully global economy is generating mounting inequalities based primarily on access to quality education. At the same time, an epic transformation is underway, as this city and country, once predominantly composed of European nationalities, is rapidly becoming a microcosm of all the world’s ethnicities and religions. And as urban regions compete for the “knowledge workers” in the new economy, quality-of-place attributes now increasingly determine the fates of cities. The panel reviews the findings from 38 years of systematic surveys to show how the new realities are unfolding, to assess the changing attitudes and beliefs of the general public, and to consider the implications of these ongoing trends for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Together with several panelists, Professor Klineberg will discuss how some destination cities have evolved toward inclusion and explore the institutions and strategies that support inclusive evolution.
Panelists include:
Angela Blanchard, Brown University
Amanda Edwards, Houston City Council
Armando Walle, Texas House of Representatives
Moderated by: Susan Moffitt, Director of the Taubman Center for American Politics and Policy

400 Bomar Street Houston, TX 77003 by Cathy Manuel
Downtown Houston has two major league
sports venues. Minute Maid Park (formerly Enron Field),
which opened in 2000, is home to the MLB Astros and the
Toyota Center home to the NBA Rockets, and AHL Aeros
opened in 2003. The Downtown Houston Theatre District is
one of the largest in the country as measured by the number of
theater seats. Houston is one of only five cities in the United
States with permanent professional resident companies in all
of the major performing art disciplines of opera, ballet, music,
and theater. Venues in the theater district include the Wortham
Center (opera and ballet), the Alley Theatre (theater), the
Hobby Center (resident and traveling musical theater, concerts,
events), the Verizon Wireless Theater (concerts and events)
and Jones Hall (symphony).The George R. Brown Convention
Center, with its 1,200,000 square feet (111,000 m2) of flexible
exhibit, meeting, and registration space and adjacent hotel, is
frequently used for conventions, trade shows, and community
meetings. Downtown Houston is home to the flagship Macy's
(former Foley's) Department Store (founded in 1900), which
moved to its current location in 1947. It has 10 levels and it
occupies an entire Houston square city block. In 2006 this
store, along with all other Foley's stores, was renamed Macy's.
The Houston Downtown Tunnel System is also home to many
shops and restaurants.
