Hout Bay, Cape Town South Africa
Hout Bay (Afrikaans: Houtbaai, meaning Wood Bay) is a suburb of Cape Town, South Africa situated in a valley on the Atlantic seaboard of the Cape Peninsula, twenty kilometres south of the Central Business District of Cape Town. The name Hout Bay can refer to the town, the bay on which it is situated, or the entire valley.
When the Dutch established a colony in Table Bay in 1652, a vast quantity of good timber was required for construction, shipbuilding other purposes. There was no vast forest near the settlement, mainly because the rainfall was not high enough. It was soon apparent that the colonists would be able to fell wood they needed in the wetter valley that lay on the other side of a low pass (called Constantia Nek) between the southern end of Table Mountain and Constantiaberg. The area was initially made up of two farms, which were slowly subdivided to make way for urban expansion. While still maintaining its rural atmosphere, the city of Hout Bay has more than 12,000 residences inhabited by a population of about 42,000 people

Hout Bay
Hout Bay with the distinctive Mount Sentinel. A picturesque setting and one of the most popular destinations on the Cape Peninsula near Cape Town, Soth Africa. Walking down the beach - one gets to Hout Bay's centrepiece, the yacht- and fishing-harbour with the lively promenade. Behind the fishing boats: the open-air arts and crafts market with items from all over Africa. Woodcarvings are often treated with shoeshine - for an ebony-like look - a cheap and effective method. More sophisticated souvenirs - even diamond jewellery - can be purchased in the Kraal Kraft shop opposite the road. Boat rides on the bay are quite popular. As a farewell - and a welcome on return - the colourfully dressed street musicians from the Hangklip quarter play and sing their tunes.

Snake Cobra on Hout Bay Beach Cape Town South Africa
Back home again here's the video of the most venomous snake in Africa , which I picked up at one of the most popular beaches around Cape Town. I had a bath 100m beside it on our second day in Africa. What this meant I realized a few days later when I heard people talking about this incident.
SOUTH AFRICA: Boulders Beach, Cape Point, Hout Bay, Chapman's Peak - AFRICA VLOG PART 7
South Africa has some incredible sights to see. In this part I visited some cheeky penguins at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town, I hiked up to Cape point, the most south-western tip of all of Africa, hiked Cape of Good Hope and saw some grazing ostrich while experiencing gale force winds.
I spent new years day driving to Hout Bay where we took a ferry to seal island and drove the scenic Chapman's Peak drive to watch the first sunset of 2015. It is worth noting that I did all those activities in Hout Bay on 3 hours of sleep and hungover from partying at a wine farm for new years eve. The most I do on a hangover at home is crawl from my bed to the fridge and back, but when you travel a hangover won't stop you from exploring a new country for 16+ hours. In short, I had an amazing time :)

Once a small sleepy fishing village, Hout Bay seems to have remained in transition forever. You can enter Chapmans Peak at the southern end of the town headed for Noordhoek. There are a few good restaurants and Guest Houses in the area. There is a under cover craft market with some of the best food you can find in Cape Town.
Before heading over Chappies, stop and storl through the old fort as you enter the drive. If you choose to go over Constantia Nek you will find a couple of great small wineries, which will rival some of the best wines you have ever tasted! In the harbour you will find boats that will take tourists out to seal island.
