This spectacular circular cycle bridge in the Dutch city of Eindhoven has recently been opened to the public. The cable-stayed bridge, designed by ipv Delft, offers cyclists and pedestrians an exciting crossover. With its impressive pylon, 72 metre diameter, thin deck and conspicuous lighting, the cyclist roundabout is a new landmark for the city.

This movie is dedicated to the Hovenring, one of the most talked about cycle bridges by design office ipv Delft. The Hovenring was commissioned by the Dutch city of Eindhoven. This suspended circular cycle bridge with its 70-metre high pylon is a new landmark for the city.

This unique roundabout for bicycles is situated in Eindhoven near Veldhoven, The Netherlands. We filmed this drone clip at day light with some traffic and in the night. The roundabout is extra fun to drive at night, by car or bicycle, because of the beautiful lights. Enjoy!

Floating Bicycle Roundabout in Eindhoven, Netherlands
The recently opened floating bicycle roundabout is called Hovenring and can be found between Eindhoven, Veldhoven and Meerhoven. It is a prime example of exceptional bicycle infrastructure in the Netherlands.

Bicycle ride from the spectacular Hovenring to the Central railway Station in Eindhoven (Netherlands). It is nice to have spectacular bicycle infra but it is even better to have a connected underlying bicycle network. Eindhoven has that. The originally 19 minute ride in 10 minutes. There is not a single interaction with a motorized vehicle. Now that is how separation in the Netherlands works!

Eindhoven
Eindhoven (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɛi̯ntɦoːvə(n)] ) is a municipality and a city in the south of the Netherlands, originally at the confluence of the Dommel and Gender streams. The Gender was dammed short of the city centre in the 1950s and the Dommel still runs through the city. The city has a population of 223,220 in January 2015, making it the fifth-largest municipality of the Netherlands and the largest in the province of North Brabant.
Neighbouring cities and towns include Asten, Son en Breugel, Nuenen, Geldrop-Mierlo, Heeze-Leende, Waalre, Veldhoven, Eersel, Oirschot and Best. The agglomeration has a population of 337,487. The metropolitan area consists of 419,045 inhabitants. The city region has a population of 753,426. Also, Eindhoven is located in the Brabantse Stedenrij, a combined metropolitan area with about 2 million inhabitants.
Name
The name Eindhoven derives from the contraction of the regional words eind (meaning last or end) and hove (or hoeve, a section of some 14 hectares of land). Toponymically, eind occurs commonly as a prefix and postfix in local place- and streetnames. A hove comprised a parcel of land which a local lord might lease to private persons (such as farmers). Given that a string of such parcels existed around Woensel, the name Eindhoven may have originated with the meaning last hoves on the land of Woensel.

Opening Floating Bicycle Roundabout Eindhoven, Netherlands
The Hovenring bicycle roundabout was opened on 29th of June 2012 with a neighborhood party. Suspended from a 70 meter tall pylon it seems to float and it has become a magnificent landmark for Eindhoven, Veldhoven and Meerhoven after which the ring got it's name.

A street in Eindhoven with cycle lanes was recently changed into a street with protected cycle tracks where people can now cycle completely separate from motor traffic. The before situation was in 2012, the after situation was filmed in 2014.

The largest town in southern Netherlands (and the fifth largest in the country), Eindhoven is well worth exploring. Known by locals as Lichtstad - the City of Light - due to its connections with electronics giant Philips (a monument near the station is dedicated to the company founder's son), this modern town is one of the country's industrial powerhouses. Located on the River Dommel, its rapid growth began soon after the establishment of the Philips works in 1891 and was cemented with the founding of the car and truck manufacturer, DAF. A busy university town, the city is home to a diverse collection of tourist attractions, from art museums to historic churches and lovely parks. It's also notable for its connection to Vincent Van Gogh who lived and painted in the nearby village of Neunen.
