The PHAUNG DAW OO Festival is the biggest and most important occasion in the SHAN State. The PHAUNG DAW OO Pagoda, one of the holiest sites of the SHAN State, houses five statues. Three of the statues are allegedly Buddha images and the other two Buddha disciples. All five have lost any recognizable shape after being encrusted with accumulated gold leaf over the centuries. The fifth Buddha image stays to guard the monastery. Legend has it that when the five were paraded around the lake, the barge suddenly capsized, only four statues were recovered but the fifth mysteriously reappeared at the pagoda draped in lake reeds and has remained there since.

La procession se termine par la sortie de 4 petites effigies du Bouddha entièrement recouvertes d'or placées dans une barque royale. Le festival se termine par une folle course de bateaux qui réunit des centaines de rameurs.
Every year a grand celebrates gathers the believers around every pagoda. The party, called here festival, holds at the same time of the procession and the procession of floral floats! The procession ends by the exit of 4 small effigies of the Buddha completely covered with gold placed in a boat of royal type. The festival ends by a crazy running(race) of boats which gathers hundreds of rowers.

Day trip to Kakku Pagodas/ Kakku Monastery, Taunggyi city centre, and Aythaya Vineyard
Follow Us as we share with you our day trip in Taunggyi, the largest city of Shan state, Myanmar.
We booked a car with tour guide from Klook. Our first stop is a visit to a hidden gem of Shan state - Kakku Pagodas/ Kakku Monastery, a site with about 2,500 ancient pagodas of distinct, intricate carvings in the hills east of Inle Lake. These pagodas dated as far back as a few centuries and was a rather majestic sight to behold.
We dropped by the Kakku Pagodas Market thereafter to experience the local way of life. After lunch, which consisted of traditional Myanmar dishes, we continued our journey to the city centre of Taunggyi.
We took a short walk around to explore the sights and sounds of the city centre before adjourning to Aythaya Vineyard, where we unwind with a tasting session of the wines produced by one of the only two vineyards in Myanmar to date.

Four Buddha Images out of five from Phaung-daw-oo Pagoda are carried on royal barge and conveyed around 14 villages on the Lake. The barge is towed by the boats of leg-rowers and hundreds of boats follow the procession.

One of the famous principal shrines in Myanmar. this pagoda houses five small Buddha images. Once a year. 10 - 27 October 2018. there is a pagoda festival during which the five Buddha images are rowed around the Lake in a colourful barge. Situated in Inle Lake. one of the most dazzling and magical places in Asia. It is held on a grand scale for 18 days. usually falls in October (sometimes in September). Four Buddha Images out of five from Phaung-daw-oo Pagoda are carried on royal barge and conveyed around 14 villages on the Lake. The barge is towed by the boats of leg -rowers and hundreds of boats follow the procession. The large crowds of people gather on the lake-shores to celebrate the occasion. It is really a splendid sight.
Among the dance shows and fun-fairs. the most interesting event of the festival. especially for foreigners. is their boat race - due to their unique leg rowing. It is the one and only place in the world that one can see such marvelous act.The festival of Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda is usually held during October. The festival takes about 18 days. It is the biggest occasion held in the Inle Lake¸ Shan State. The festival is held with great magnificence and pageantry. The holy Buddha's images are placed on a decorated royal barge and towed by leg-rowers around the lake.

There are also Shan traditional boat races participated by leg-rowers. People from all the villages nearby come to pay homage to the Images.

We went to some places in southern Shan State from 25th to 28th December. We went to Taunggyi, Inle and Kalaw. Taunggyi is the largest city in Shan State. Inle Lake is one of the famous destinations in Myanmar. Kalaw is a beautiful town with a lot of colonial buildings and beautiful buildings. ミャンマーのタウンジーには、カックーパゴダ（Kakku pagoda)遺跡があります。このパゴダは比較的小さなパゴダ群が密集しており、その光景は圧巻です。パゴダにトップには鈴が取り付けられており、風が吹くと心地よい音を奏でてくれます。

There is a famous pagoda in Taunggyi, Myanmar called Kakku pagoda. Each pagoda is relatively small but the view of pagodas are so impressive. A pagoda has a bell on the top and it makes very comfortable sound when wind blows. Please enjoy the video!

インレー湖のパゴダ巡りとタウンジー（ミャンマー）での晩ご飯

インレー湖にある3つのパゴダに行ってきました。その内の一つは”Burma Hpaung Daw U”パゴダと言うところ。ここに安置されている仏像は、訪問者による金箔が幾重にも張り続けられたことで原型がわからなくなっています。インレー湖からタウンジーに戻った後は、晩ご飯にシャン料理を楽しみました。
