Tea tourism vitalizes Jinhua village in China's Guizhou
China is the birthplace of tea, and Chinese soil has nourished tea bushes for thousands of years. In Jinhua, a village in Meitan county of southwestern China's Guizhou province, tea plantations have helped bring great changes to the lives of locals and the old revolutionary base area that they call home
30-story building built in 15 days! Construction time lapse of J57, Changsha, China.
What can you accomplish in 360 hours?
The Chinese sustainable building company, Broad Group, has yet attempted another impossible feat, building a 30-story tall hotel prototype in 360 hours, after building a 15-story building in a week earlier in 2011.
You may ask why in a hurry, and is it safe? The statistics in the video can put you in good faith. Prefabricated modular buildings has many advantages over conventional buildings.
Higher precision in fabrication (+/- 0.2mm).
More coordinated on-site construction management.
Shorter construction time span.
Lower construction waste.
Also many other health and energy features are included in Broad Sustainable Buildings (BSB)
The building was built over last Christmas time and finished before New Years Eve of 2012.

Fujian Tulou in China | Toyotoro
The various clusters of circular and rectangular earth buildings in the southeast of China’s Fujian province is another testimony to the country’s rich culture. As a UNESCO Heritage site, local and foreign tourists are drawn to this area like bees to honey, making a crowd unavoidable. Many tulou had a revamp and the main ones charge a fee to enter. For us, exploring the more derelict but still inhabited tulou just outside of the commercialised area is far more interesting. However, communication proved difficult to say the least and comical at best, as people especially the older generation only speak mingnanhua, which is totally unintelligible to a putonghua or chongqinghua speaker. A few minutes of excruciatingly painful conversation commenced between a sweet kejia (or Hakka) elderly lady and myself, that involved me throwing every language I know at her. Despite all the syllables that past between us, it ended with neither of us understanding a single thing that came out of the other person’s mouth.

Highway through a Building Story ★ ONLY in JAPAN
Osaka's Gate Tower Building is an amazing sight to see because ... well, how should I put this? A highway goes through the building.
It literally does, and there is a story behind it.
In this episode, John not only goes inside to see where the elevator takes him, he also drives through it -- in a Lotus Seven. We'll also go up the Umeda Sky Building and catch some fantastic angles of the city, skyline and Gate Tower Building.
THE STORY:
Here it is from the building owner.
It’s basically a land rights dispute with a sort of happy ending.
The property was owned by a business (coal and wood company) since the early Meiji era but when business declined, so did the buildings in the 1970s. The area was approved to be redeveloped in 1983 but the property holder refused to give up the land, even though new building permits had been refused to him. The highway corporation and the property owner negotiated for 5 years and what you see today is their compromise. Highways usually buy the land they’re on but a new law in 1989 allowed the possibility of having two owners on the same spot, really meant for highways to go underground but hey – let’s get creative.
The highway is the legal tenant of floors 5 through 7.
The current building tenant on the other floors is TKP.
WHERE IS THE BUILDING WITH THE HIGHWAY THROUGH IT?
Google map:
Closest Station: JR Fukushima Station
It's one stop away from JR Osaka Station on the Loop Line.
Special thank you to TKP and the building owners for allowing me to film inside the building.

Kaiyuan Temple, Quanzhou, China Kai元temple, Q u按周
On a rainy day we visited the Kaiyuan Temple 開元寺; Kaiyuan Si; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Khai-gôan-sī), also known as the Ziyun Hall 紫雲堂; Zǐyún táng; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Chí-hûn-tông), is a Buddhist temple on West Street, Quanzhou, China, the largest in Fujian province.
Although it is known as a Hindu-Buddhist temple, on account of added Tamil-Hindu influences, the main statue in the most important hall is that of Vairocana Buddha, the main Buddha according to Huayen-buddhism. What is now called the Mahavira Hall (Mahavira - the Great and Strong) is in fact the Vairocana Hall.
It was originally built in 685 or 686 during the Tang Dynasty. Behind its main hall Mahavira Hall”, there are some columns with fragments from a Shiva temple built in 1283 by the Tamil community in Quanzhou dedicated to Hindu God Shiva.
The carvings are dispersed across five primary sites in Quanzhou and the neighboring areas. They were made in the South Indian style, and share close similarities with 13th-century temples constructed in the Chola Nadu region in Tamil Nadu. Nearly all of the carvings were carved with greenish-gray granite, which was widely available in the nearby hills and used in the region's local architecture.
In 1983, the Kaiyuan Temple was designated as a national temple.

Island besieged by sea ice in northeast China Liaodong Bay
Large stretches of sea ice have sieged the 13.5-square kilometer-Juehua Island in Xingcheng County, in northeast China's Liaoning Province, officials from the National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center said on Monday.
The sea ice also has extended at least 74 nautical miles (130 km) from the shoreline into the Liaodong Bay.
About 3,000 residents living on the island have been stranded since authorities suspended the shipping services on Jan. 22.
The sea ice coverage exceeded 17,261 square kilometers, and the thickness of the biggest ice block was more than 35 centimeters.
Residents have stored sufficient supplies to spend the winter as local authorities had transported daily necessities to the island since last December before the shipping services suspended.
The condition this year was more serious than last year. The ice is expected to thaw at the mid-to-late March in 2018. The shipping transportation will probably resume after late March, said Zhang Guohui, official from the maritime affairs bureau of Huludao City.
