Cable Car Ride Chongqing Part 1 - Jialing River
There is something nostalgically appealing about the two cable car routes across the Jialing and Yangtze river. These cable cars have transported thousands of people from bank to bank for many decades and are in excellent working order (I think). Is there an older aerial cable car system than this in the world?
Both routes provide great views across the Jialing and Yangtze rivers, and the fast growing skyline of Chongqing.
Like the electric trams that still run in the Victoria area of Hong Kong, may the cable cars of Chongqing continue to operate for many years to come.
News update June 2012 - 2 new bridges are being constructed accross the Jialing river and Yangste river. So it would appear we have seen the last of Chongqing cablecars.
