Swimming with Elephants in Chiang Mai, Thailand (Hug Elephant Sanctuary)
Spending a day in Chiang Mai, Thailand with these beautiful gentle giants. We also made our way to a near by waterfall. Did my first cliff jump. Early December 2017.

Best Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai, Thailand
As a tourist, I need to be more aware of the organizations I support, especially when going on tours to visit different animals. Are they treating them right? Are they ethical? Do they exploit the animals for entertainment or black market trade? Nowadays, a lot of this information can be found online, so it is best to do your research rather than going in blindly.
I decided to visit the Hug Elephant Sanctuary because I wanted to go to a place where elephants were not exploited, and at the same time, still have a hands-on day experience with these large mammals.
The Hug Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai offers a more ethical approach to having a close encounter with elephants. You are only allowed to play, feed and bathe together with them.
It was a lot of fun! And definitely an experience for the books :)

The founders have acknowledged the importance of the Thai elephants and realized that the number of the elephants in Thailand has been decreased rapidly. The founders have worked in tourism industry for 25 years, recognizing the changes in the industry both loss and the opportunity in the same time.

Chiang Mai, Thailand - Elephant Jungle Sanctuary
The adventure around the world for one year continues as we backpack on a budget though Southeast Asia. Stephen, Jordyn and I had vistited the incredible EJS two years before when they only had one camp (now called Camp 3) where we met Robert, a passionate little Karen tribesman, and the elephants they rescued from abuse. We learned about how wild elephants used to roam in their village, but were slowly taken away to be sold into the logging industry and entertainment business. The tribe decided to dedicate their land to bring the elephants back home 3 years ago, and have since rescued 70 elephants and opened 9 more sanctuaries! We learned that RIDING ELEPHANTS IS REALLY BAD and that as people learn, they spread the word and more camps are being shut down! ITS WORKING!
Watch my first video of our experience at the sanctuary and the story of how we learned that riding Elephants in Bali on our honeymoon wasn't the best decision we've ever made.
Visit the EJS page:
Thanks for watching!

HUG ELEPHANTS SANCTUARY CHIANG MAI ????
Hug Elephant was founded in September 2015
The founders have acknowledged the importance of the Thai elephants and realized that the number of the elephants in Thailand has been decreased rapidly. The founders have worked in tourism industry for 25 years, recognizing the changes in the industry both loss and the opportunity in the same time.
The elephants have been revered in Thailand for centuries. Thai people and the elephants work and live together both in peace and in the battle. Therefore, elephant is the national animal of Thailand.
Hug Elephant as a small sanctuary to improve the quality of care given to elephants with morality. The elephants live happily
with the local people and community.
❤ Accurate care given – focusing on the precise training
❤ Preserve the forest – taking care of both the elephants and the forest.
❤ Happy elephants – letting the elephants live freely
❤ Look after the elephants and the visitors – emphasizing on the safety as a priority.
❤ Trekking with the elephants - allowing the elephants to exercise and spending time with the elephant lovers.
Hug Elephant works hard to balance between offering the worthy experience to the participants and sharing the love to the elephants, elephants’ care takers, the community, the environment and the forest. The participants will enjoy the love from the elephants and they can return their love to the elephants and the community.

THAILAND TRAVEL | ELEPHANT SANCTUARY | CHIANGMAI 2019
This was absolutely an incredible experience for me in Thailand. I finally got to play with baby elephant for the first time in my life. Also, it was my first time see them in person as well. The elephant sanctuary was definitely one of my hi-light of 2019 for sure. This was in North of Thailand which is Chiangmai. Definitely go and check it out. It could also might be one of the best thing you can do in Thailand.

Hugs Elephant Sanctuary Chiang Mai
Just a little re-cap of my experience at Hugs Elephant Sanctuary. They offer a tremendous experience of interacting with elephants without the abuse. They help foster a bond between these elephants and their guest without negligence. I strongly recommend in comparison to the many other elephant services throughout Asia that work their elephants all day with countless guest riding them. Overall, one of the most memorable traveling experience in Chiang Mai ????✨???? ???? .
