HUILLOC - Cultural Immersion in Peru's Sacred Valley of the Incas
We were honored to spend a night at Feliciano and Fortunata's house in the village of Huilloc in Peru. Huilloc is nestled in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and its people live by carrying on the customs and traditions of their ancestors.
Service Learning with EF: Huilloc Women's Cooperative
Meet Marta Laucata Quispe, a young Peruvian woman from a group called the Huilloc Women’s Cooperative. Supported by an NGO called Awamaki, students on an EF Service Learning tour began building a weaving center where her group will make crafts to sell. As the students make adobe bricks and clear land for the building’s foundation alongside local men, women, and children—even enjoying a pickup game of soccer during their downtime—hear about what the project means to Marta and her community.

How tourism is helping the Peruvian village of Huilloc | World Expeditions
Huilloc is located in a remote corner of the Sacred Valley, a 25-minute drive from Ollantaytambo, in a district known for its customary traditions of back strap weaving. The community is home to 200 families who will warmly welcome you. Homestays, home cooked meals, weaving demonstrations from the local women and even learning how the mean tend to the fields and pay respect to pachamama (earth mother) are just some of the genuine cultural experiences to be had.
Learn how responsible tourism is helping the community, changing the lives of children and helping to protect their cultural identity.

Jungles in Paris is a purpose-driven multimedia project based in New York City. We use non-fiction films, photography and more to create transporting encounters both online and offline. The aim is to get modern audiences to slow down and observe, learn about, and connect with the planet: to foster a true interconnectivity between people and place.
Prioritizing the local, the authentic, the sustainable and the timeless, we tell real stories that implicitly question the modern mode of living, and its relationship to nature in particular. The Guardian has called Jungles in Paris “one of the best independent travel magazines, while Fast Company refers to it as “a reminder that the world is still full of surprises.”
