Opotiki is a small town in the eastern Bay of Plenty in the North Island.
It was a wonderful place to be before we headed on a journey around the East Cape.
If you visit Opotiki you MUST visit Hukutaia Domain which is about 8km south of the town. This stunning piece of forest is home to around 1500 varieties of native plants. It felt so refreshing and rejuvenating to walk under the canopy of some very auspicious trees. One of the most important specimen isTaketakerau, a sacred 23m puriri tree estimated to be more than 2000 years old. It is a very tapu (sacred) area so please be respectful. It was an honour to walk in such beauty.

Drone friendly place district as per the District Council. This still has approval to be given but all the right noises are being made. Finally some sense for the drone flying community.

HUKUTAIA DOMAIN
Hukutaia Domain is 4.5 hectares of native bush remnant, featuring ancient Puriri trees, mighty Tawa, and many varieties of ferns, moses and fungi. It provides a glimpse of how the local area looked before culitvation of the land changed the landscape.

Wonderful, wow and what a lot of room
I am delighted to present to you this huge 320m low maintenance 1980s brick delight. So many boxes are ticked off, there is really something for the whole family!
Backing on to a rural landscape in the sought after Woodlands Road you are in for a treat! Comprising of five bedrooms, three bathrooms (including a spa bath) and oh so much more this truly is a home worth inspecting.
Freshly decorated with neutral colours and tones throughout the hard work has been done. The new kitchen is dreamy for those who love to entertain - in the thick of things being part of an open plan kitchen/dining area and well designed with mod cons you will be the host/hostess with the mostess. This flows onto a spacious living room which again connects to a sunroom - hello space! A wetback fire and two gas heaters mean keeping all of this wonderful room toasty a breeze.

motu river jet 3min 50sec version
Motu River Jet features in this jet boat club trip up the mighty Motu River, near Opotiki New Zealand. The destination: Helicopter Rapid. Opotiki Helicopters flew in too, for action from the air as well as the water. Both Motu River Jet and Opotiki Helicopters run commercial trips around the Opotiki-East Cape area, capturing the adventure and escape of Eastland — and if you're not into full-on, they do more leisurely trips as well. Brilliant stuff.
