The Inn at Vineyards Crossing in Hume Virginia WINERY
The original portion of the Inn dates back to the pre-stage coach days, circa 1787. It sits on the northwest corner of the Village and is a cream stucco frame building (old log tavern) with a center stone chimney, which was known as Barbee’s Tavern. The tavern was in operation during colonial and Civil War times and had a thriving business. The tavern has wide pine flooring, exposed American Chestnut interior logs, and 3 stone fireplaces. During the War Between the States wounded from the First and Second Battles of Bull Run were taken to the Tavern and it served as headquarters to both the Union and Confederate armies.
TavernThe-Old-Post-Office-in-the-TavernThe-Tavern-WindowToday, the Tavern is the anchor of the Hume Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We invite you to experience this American treasure, and to escape to the comfort and luxury of this historic Tavern while you plan your memorable adventure in Virginia wine country.

Property Site:
Fantastic year-round views await on this fabulous 2+ acre parcel fronting on a state-maintained, paved road. You can live well here without breaking the bank. There are no HOA fees, and if this lot, and your new home to be built on it, were located just a short distance away in Fauquier County, property taxes would be significantly higher. The property is perfectly sloped to accommodate a new home with a walk-out basement, and rear deck to offer southern sun exposure and incredible mountain views. Your building costs will be minimized by several factors: - A VDOT approved driveway entrance with culvert has already been installed. - The lot is served by a community water system, so there is no need to drill a well for your new home (you never know in advance how deep, and thus how much a well will ultimately cost).- A septic certificate letter has been obtained from the health department for a conventional gravity flow system. This is the least expensive, least complicated type of septic system to install and own. The location is convenient: there are two access points to route 66, at Markham and Linden. At the bottom of the mountain off route 55, there is a farm market that sells local goods and produce, in addition to the post office, gas stations and 24/7 convenience stores. Recreational opportunities abound: there is a winery just down the road, and many more nearby in Hume, Marshall and Markham. The GR Thompson Wildlife Management area is nearby, which offers thousands of acres for hiking, hunting and mountain biking. The legendary Appalachian trail runs right through it. Warren County is famous for the Shenandoah River, and there are multiple public access spots along the river for boating and fishing. Do you commute to the DC area, or work from home, and are looking to build a custom year-round home in a rural setting? Perhaps you are looking to create a mountaintop weekend family retreat, or retire to the mountains, away from suburbia. If so, come take a look, and prepare to be impressed! This property is also offered for sale as a lot and custom home combination, constructed by a quality, reputable local builder. We can accommodate your design and specifications!

Winery at La Grange - Virginia
Located just outside of Haymarket, Virginia, the Winery at LaGrange is in a beautiful pastoral setting. The winery is named for its three and a half story La Grange manor house which was built in the 1790s, although the winery itself was started in 2006. Situated about an hour from Washington DC, they get plenty of visitors, and if the crowd during our visit was any indication, the Winery at LaGrange will become another thriving East Coast winery.
Join us as we talk with with general manager Fletcher Henderson, and winemaker Rob Cox about this exciting new project.
