Hunstanton is a seaside town in Norfolk, England, Hunstanton faces west across The Wash, making it one of the few places on the East Coast where the sun can be seen setting over the sea. Hunstanton is a 19th-century resort town, initially known as New Hunstanton to distinguish it from the adjacent old village from which it took its name. The new town soon exceeded the village in scale and population.
The original settlement of Hunstanton, now known as Old Hunstanton, probably gained its name from the River Hun, which runs to the coast just to the east of Old Hunstanton. It has also been opined that the name Hunstanton originated from the word Honeystone, a reference to the local red carr stone. The river begins in the grounds of Old Hunstanton Park which surrounds the old moated hall, the ancestral home of the Le Strange family. Old Hunstanton village is of prehistoric origin and lies near to the head of Peddars Way.
Overlooking a sloping green and the sea, and for several years standing alone, it earned the nickname Le Strange's Folly. In 1850 Le Strange, an amateur architect and painter, appointed a land agent to survey the site and prepare a plan, while he himself drew and painted a map and a perspective of the scheme, showing shops, a station and a church. He consulted William Butterfield on the design of the development plan. Their shared passion was for the Old English style of architecture for domestic buildings. This owed much to medieval precedent and to the earnestness of the Victorian Gothic Revival. Hunstanton is the exemplar of a model 19th-century estate seaside town. Most of the fabric and character of that original development survives.
Hunstanton is a traditional family resort. Summer crowds tend to be smaller now than in the 1980s, although the popularity of the town as a tourist destination for day-trippers and holidaymakers has endured, weathering the decline of the British seaside holiday. During the 1990s, businesses in villages south of Hunstanton (Dersingham, Ingoldisthorpe and Snettisham) complained of a loss in trade after being bypassed by the A149, which carries heavy Hunstanton-bound traffic.
Hunstanton is home to a fairground, aquarium and seal sanctuary, leisure pool, theatre, large caravan parks with amenities (Searle's Holiday Park opened in 1936), a number of amusement arcades and a long promenade. Hunstanton has regular markets on Wednesdays and Sundays selling fresh fish and fresh fruit and vegetables. The markets attract greater numbers in the summer months through to the autumn. he countryside surrounding Hunstanton is hillier than most of Norfolk and is sparsely populated, the only nearby large settlement being King's Lynn, 12 miles (19 km) to the south.

Best Kitesurfing Beach in UK - Old Hunstanton
This Video is about the Best Kitesurfing Beach in UK - Old Hunstanton.
I know i recently made a video called the same thing just about Camber Sands, but according to a few people Old Hunstanton is a much better beach for kitesurfing. Even the best kitesurfing beach in england.
Kitesurfing is a sport that is hugely weather dependant. and from what I heard in Hunstanton you can fly you kite on more than just one wind direction making it a better kitesurfing beach.
I made this video for fun neither me or my brother ( the person in the video ) are professionals.
Old Hunstanton is a very long and shallow beach, making it perfect for kitesurfing and kitesurfing beginners! You also get a lot of competition as it ca be seen from the video!

Old Hunstanton is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 5.35 km² and had a population of 47 in 25 households at the 2001 census. The population had risen to 628 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of North Norfolk.
This small settlement adjoins to the north of the larger resort of Hunstanton or New Hunstanton. The quiet character of Old Hunstanton remains distinct from and complements that of its busy sibling, with clifftop walks past the disused Old Hunstanton Lighthouse and the ruins of St Edmund's Chapel, built in 1272. King Edmund supposedly built the village. The River Hun runs to the coast just to the east of old Hunstanton.
The parish church of St Mary, situated in the grounds of Hunstanton Hall, is a Grade I listed building. It was built by Sir Hamon le Strange in about 1300 and extensively rebuilt and restored during the 19th century by architect Frederick Preedy for Henry Le Strange (1815- 1862), developer of New Hunstanton.
St Mary's churchyard contains the graves of a customs officer (William Green) and a soldier (William Webb), both of whom were fatally wounded during a skirmish on the Hunstanton coast with smugglers. The clash occurred on the night of 25 September 1784, also claiming the life of another customs officer named Rennett. However, although the alleged perpetrators were tried at Thetford the following year it proved impossible to secure any convictions.
At Old Hunstanton is a RNLI Lifeboat station with a B class (Atlantic) boat and a Hovercraft. In December 2011 a large whale washed ashore on the beach. At low tide there is a small Lagoon named after a local kitersurfer born and bred in Hunstanton - Mews Lagoon.

Hunstanton Beach Photo's
Just a short video of my photo's from the beach the other night. It's my first vist this year, its only about 45 minutes drive from me, I love it there! This particular part of the beach is a bit tacky and a bit run down, but once you get to the cliffs its a big magical, with big rockpools that you can walk around when the tide is out...
