USA: WASHINGTON: MARGARET THATCHER: 70TH BIRTHDAY SPEECH
English/Nat
Margaret Thatcher has proclaimed as a triumph the march of conservatism across the Western World.
Speaking at her 70th birthday bash in Washington, Lady Thatcher praised the key role played by former United States president Ronald Reagan.
Her birthday party, thrown by tobacco conglomerate Philip Morris, attracted a Who's Who of American political conservatism.
The former British Prime Minister was toasted at a gala ball in Washington's huge Union Station.
With Baroness Thatcher considered an almost mythical inspiration for America's new Right, the guest list included a veritable who's who of the country's conservative elite.
Among those attending - former first lady Nancy Reagan and former U-S Defence Secretary Caspar Weinberger.
Guests arrived to jeers from Irish protestors across the street, angry at Britain's policy in Northern Ireland.
Lady Thatcher was presented with the Stars and Stripes by Scott O'Grady, the U-S pilot dramatically rescued from Bosnia after being shot down by Serbs.
The 600 guests attending the event paid one thousand dollars each for the privilege.
SOUNDBITE:
I remember way back when you and Ronnie first met and there was an instant rapport. You both shared you convictions and philosophies and from then on you were partners, allies, and friends and Ronnie was your biggest fan
SUPER CAPTION: Nancy Reagan, former First Lady.
Lady Thatcher praised the role the former U-S president played in championing Conservatism.
SOUNDBITE: 'What Ronald Reagan achieved in the 1980's may well undergo future transformations that neither of us would find congenial, but it will never be transformed into exactly what we fought and over which we won'.
SUPER CAPTION: Lady Margaret Thatcher, former British Prime Minister
While proclaiming the triumph of the 80's Mrs Thatcher also hinted the Tory Party's time might soon be up in England.
SOUNDBITE: 'If in my own country my political opponents were to come to power it's unlikely they would nationalise the industries that we privatised in the 1980's or restore the 83 per cent top tax rate of 1979 or reverse my trade union reforms.'
SUPER CAPTION: Lady Margaret Thatcher, former British Prime Minister
The birthday lady was presented with a cake sporting both the Union Flag and the Stars and Stripes.
Proceeds from the event are to go to Baroness Thatcher's own foundation, established to promote her conservative ideas.

Impeachment trial of President Trump | Jan. 27, 2020 (FULL LIVE STREAM)
The House managers wrapped up their arguments against President Trump on Jan. 24. Trump’s team, including lawyers Pat Cipollone and Jay Sekulow, now has 24 hours to present their case. After Trump’s lawyers conclude their presentation, senators will have an opportunity to submit questions to both sides in writing. Following that, debate will turn to whether to call witnesses and subpoena documents.
Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Impeachment does not mean that the president has been removed from office. In the next phase, the Senate must hold a trial to make that determination. A Senate impeachment trial has happened only two other times in American history and once in the modern era. At the center of the Democrats’ case is that Trump sought to withhold military assistance and an Oval Office meeting until Ukraine announced investigations into former vice president Joe Biden and his son.

Senate Impeachment Trial Of President Trump - Day 6 | NBC News (Live Stream Recording)
Watch: Day 1 of Trump impeachment inquiry public hearings (FULL LIVE STREAM)
Watch live coverage and analysis from the Washington Post beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET as the first public hearings of the Trump impeachment inquiry begin in the House. William B. Taylor Jr., the acting ambassador to Ukraine, and George Kent, the deputy assistant secretary of state responsible for Ukraine will testify. Washington Post reporter Libby Casey will host, with guests Shane Harris and Amber Phillips.
Democrats believe that Taylor, the lead witness, will provide compelling evidence as they build a public case for impeaching Trump. In a transcript of his closed-door testimony released last week, Taylor details how Trump’s associates, including his attorney Rudolph W. Giuliani and the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, tried to pressure Ukraine into investigations into former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden, and his son Hunter.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.), will lead this week’s public hearings, a decision many Republicans have denounced. Marie Yovanovitch, the former ambassador to Ukraine who was abruptly forced out, will testify on Friday. Read more: Subscribe to The Washington Post on YouTube:

Ex CIA: Iran's Next Move & Exposing The Deep State | Bryan Dean Wright | POLITICS | Rubin Report
Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report talks to Bryan Dean Wright (former CIA ops officer) about Iran and the current escalation of conflict with the US. Bryan has a unique perspective being a former CIA agent and a lifelong Democrat. He shares his thoughts on how the recent death of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani ordered by Donald Trump could play out. Bryan lays out the most likely ways that Iran could respond and what he believes Iran really wants. He discusses why a US presence in the Middle East is vital and not changing anytime soon, unless we radically rethink our energy policy as it pertains to oil. Bryan gives an insider’s take on what exactly the “deep state” is and how they use leaks to the media like the New York Times and the Washington Post to steer the narrative in a direction more favorable to their interests. Bryan gives his feelings on the abuses of power of John Brennan, James Clapper, and James Comey. And Bryan discusses how a Trump victory against a progressive candidate like Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren could actually help save the Democratic party and return it to it’s roots of supporting the working class voter.
Watch Dave Rubin’s first interview with Bryan Dean Wright here:
Is the state of US news driving you crazy? Does the coverage of political news rarely seem “fair and balanced”? Serious discussions on US politics is vital to having a healthy democracy. Henry A. Wallace Interview: 33rd Vice President of the United States
Henry Agard Wallace (October 7, 1888 -- November 18, 1965) was the 33rd Vice President of the United States (1941--1945), the Secretary of Agriculture (1933--1940), and the Secretary of Commerce (1945--1946). In the 1948 presidential election, Wallace was the nominee of the Progressive Party.
Henry A. Wallace, son of Henry Cantwell Wallace, was born on October 7, 1888, at a farm near Orient, Adair County, Iowa. Wallace attended Iowa State College at Ames where he was a brother in the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. At Iowa State he became friends with George Washington Carver, spending time together collecting botanical specimens. He graduated in 1910 with a degree in animal husbandry. He worked on the editorial staff of the family-owned paper Wallaces' Farmer in Des Moines, Iowa, from 1910 to 1924 and edited the publication from 1924 to 1929. He experimented with breeding high-yielding hybrid corn, and authored many publications on agriculture. In 1915 he devised the first corn-hog ratio charts indicating the probable course of markets. Wallace was also a self-taught practicing statistician, co-authoring an influential article with George W. Snedecor on computational methods for correlations and regressions and publishing sophisticated statistical studies in the pages of Wallaces' Farmer. Snedecor eventually invited Wallace to teach a graduate course on least squares.
With an inheritance of a few thousand dollars that had been left to his wife, the former Ilo Browne, whom he married in 1914, Wallace founded the Hi-Bred Corn Company in 1926, which later became Pioneer Hi-Bred, a major agriculture corporation, acquired in 1999 by the Dupont Corporation for approximately $10 billion.
Wallace was raised as a Presbyterian, but left that denomination early in life. He spent most of his early life exploring other religious faiths and traditions. For many years, he had been closely associated with famous Russian artist and writer Nicholas Roerich. According to Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., Wallace's search for inner light took him to strange prophets.... It was in this search that he encountered Nicholas Roerich, a Russian emigre, painter, theosophist. Wallace did Roerich a number of favors, including sending him on an expedition to Central Asia presumably to collect drought-resistant grasses. In due course, H.A. [Wallace] became disillusioned with Roerich and turned almost viciously against him. Wallace eventually settled on Episcopalianism.
Henry Wallace was also a Freemason and attained the 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite.
In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed Wallace United States Secretary of Agriculture in his Cabinet, a post his father, Henry Cantwell Wallace, had occupied from 1921 to 1924. Wallace had been a liberal Republican, but he supported Roosevelt's New Deal and soon switched to the Democratic Party. Wallace served as Secretary of Agriculture until September 1940, when he resigned, having been nominated for Vice President as Roosevelt's running mate in the 1940 presidential election. During his tenure as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture he ordered a very unpopular strategy of slaughtering pigs and plowing up cotton fields in rural America to drive the price of these commodities back up in order to improve American farmers' financial situation. He also advocated the ever-normal granary concept.

Trump vs Iran? - Trump Administration strike in Iraq against Qassem Soleimani, a top Iranian military commander. raises questions about the legality of the strike, whether Congress will exercise any of its war powers, and what happens next. Meanwhile, questions remain about whether a Senate trial will include witnesses, documents that so far Trump has refused to allow 18 days after the House of Representatives impeached Trump on two articles for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress because of the evidence of his scheme to pressure Ukrainian Pres Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate Joe Biden, his son Hunter Biden, and the Crowdstrike 2016 DNC server conspiracy theory while holding up military aid to Ukraine, an Oval Office visit for the Ukrainian President, and other signs of support for Ukraine. Are Republicans falling into a trap if they “exonerate” Trump too quickly in the Senate before further facts come out making Trump’s guilt even clearer? Trump could lose in the courts and in public opinion in 2020 even if he “wins” a Senate trial

Senator Announces He will Focus On Montana Priorities Through January 2015
April 23, 2013
(Washington) - Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) made the following statement today after announcing he will serve out his term and not seek reelection to the United States Senate in 2014. Senator Baucus' Montana priorities in the next year and a half include:
• North Fork Watershed Protection Act
• Rocky Mountain Front Heritage Act
• 6th Montana Economic Development Summit
• Tax Reform
• Passing a strong Farm Bill
• Renewing the Highway Bill
Senator Baucus will return to Helena for a public announcement on Friday.
Reporters and editors note: please Baucus' biography below and lifetime achievements attached.
Senator Baucus:
Serving the people of Montana has been the greatest honor and privilege of my life. Over the past 35 years I have been lucky to go from working for just under 800,000 of the world's best bosses to more than a million -- and I am grateful to each and every one of them for the opportunity they have given me.
When I first asked my hero and mentor Mike Mansfield whether I should run for U.S. Senate, he told me it would take a lot of hard work, a lot of shoe leather, and a bit of luck. In the next year and a half, I want to spend all my hard work, shoe leather and luck working for the people of Montana instead of on campaigning.
So, after much consideration and many conversations with my wife Mel and our family, I have decided not to seek reelection in 2014. I will serve out my term, and then it will be time to go home to Montana.
But, I'm not turning out to pasture because there is important work left to do, and I intend to spend the year and a half getting it done. Our country and our state face enormous challenges -- rising debt, a dysfunctional tax code, threats to our outdoor heritage, and the need for more good-paying jobs.
I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work. I will double down on legislation to permanently protect the American side of the North Fork watershed and keep the Rocky Mountain Front the way it is for future generations. I am going to put everything I've got into leaving Montana with strong Highway and Farm Bills that support jobs in our state. And I'm going full steam ahead to put on the best Economic Development Summit yet.
At a national level, I will continue to work on simplifying and improving the tax code, tackling the nation's debt, pushing important job-creating trade agreements through the Senate, and implementing and expanding affordable health care for more Americans.
Deciding not to run for re-election was an extremely difficult decision. After thinking long and hard, I decided I want to focus the next year and a half on serving Montana unconstrained by the demands of a campaign. Then, I want to come home and spend time with Mel, my son Zeno, and our family enjoying the Montana public lands we've fought hard to keep open and untarnished.
Above all else, I want Montanans to know how grateful and humbled I am to have had the privilege of serving them, and I look forward to working with them as I continue to serve the state I love for the next year and a half.

In this video i have shown the life changing true story of 16th president of america Abraham Lincoln and his struggle. how he made his way to white house and elected as a president from a poor background.
how he managed to unite america from civil war
Childhood
Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin in Hardin County, Kentucky to Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks Lincoln. Thomas was a strong and determined pioneer who found a moderate level of prosperity and was well respected in the community. The couple had two other children: Abraham's older sister Sarah and younger brother Thomas, who died in infancy. Due to a land dispute, the Lincolns were forced to move from Kentucky to Perry County, Indiana in 1817, where the family squatted on public land to scrap out a living in a crude shelter, hunting game and farming a small plot. Thomas was eventually able to buy the land.
When young Abraham was 9 years old, his mother died on October 5, 1818, of tremetol (milk sickness) at age 34. The event was devastating on him and young Abraham grew more alienated from his father and quietly resented the hard work placed on him at an early age. Just over a year after Nancy's death, in December 1819, Thomas married Sarah Bush Johnston, a Kentucky widow with three children of her own. She was a strong and affectionate woman with whom Abraham quickly bonded.
Law Career
In March, 1830, the family again migrated, this time to Macon County, Illinois. When his father moved the family again to Coles County, 22-year-old Abraham Lincoln struck out on this own, making a living in manual labor. At six feet four inches tall, Lincoln was rawboned and lanky, but muscular and physically strong. He spoke with a backwoods twang and walked with a long-striding gait. He was known for his skill in wielding an ax and early on made a living splitting wood for fire and rail fencing.
After the Black Hawk War, Abraham Lincoln began his political career and was elected to the Illinois state legislature, in 1834, as a member of the Whig Party. He supported the Whig politics of government-sponsored infrastructure and protective tariffs. This political understanding led him to formulate his early views on slavery, not so much as a moral wrong, but as an impediment to economic development. It was around this time that he decided to become a lawyer.
Entering Politics
Abraham Lincoln served a single term in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1847 to 1849. His foray into national politics seemed to be as unremarkable as it was brief. He was the lone Whig from the state of Illinois, showing party loyalty, but finding few political allies. He used his term in office to speak out against the Mexican-American War and supported Zachary Taylor for president in 1848. His criticism of the war made him unpopular back home and he decided not to run for second term, but instead returned Springfield to practice law.
Elected President
In 1854, Congress passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which repealed the Missouri Compromise, and allowed individual states and territories to decide for themselves whether to allow slavery. The law provoked violent opposition in Kansas and Illinois, and it gave rise to the Republican Party. This awakened Abraham Lincoln's political zeal once again, and his views on slavery moved more toward moral indignation. Lincoln joined the Republican Party in 1856.
Civil War
Abraham Lincoln responded to the crisis wielding powers as no other president before him. He distributed $2 million from the Treasury for war material without an appropriation from Congress; he called for 75,000 volunteers into military service without a declaration of war; and he suspended the writ of habeas corpus, arresting and imprisoning suspected Confederate sympathizers without a warrant. Crushing the rebellion would be difficult under any circumstances, but the Civil War, with its preceding decades of white-hot partisan politics, was especially onerous. From all directions, Lincoln faced disparagement and defiance. He was often at odds with his generals, his Cabinet, his party and a majority of the American people.
Assassination
Reconstruction began during the war as early as 1863 in areas firmly under Union military control. Abraham Lincoln favored a policy of quick reunification with a minimum of retribution. But he was confronted by a radical group of Republicans in the Senate and House that wanted complete allegiance and repentance from former Confederates. Before a political battle had a chance to firmly develop, Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865, by well-known actor and Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. Lincoln was taken from the theater to a Petersen House across the street and laid in a coma for nine hours before dying the next morning.
