Places to see in ( Hawick - UK )
Hawick is a town in the Scottish Borders council area and historic county of Roxburghshire in the east Southern Uplands of Scotland. Hawick is 10.0 miles south-west of Jedburgh and 8.9 miles south-southeast of Selkirk.
Hawick is one of the farthest towns from the sea in Scotland, in the heart of Teviotdale, and the biggest town in the former county of Roxburghshire. Hawick's architecture is distinctive in that it has many sandstone buildings with slate roofs. The town is at the confluence of the Slitrig Water with the River Teviot. Hawick is known for its yearly Common Riding, for its rugby team Hawick Rugby Football Club and for its knitwear industry.
The west end of the town contains the Mote, the remains of a Norman motte-and-bailey. In the centre of the High Street is the Scots baronial style town hall, built in 1886, and the east end has an equestrian statue, known as the Horse, erected in 1914. Drumlanrig's Tower, now a museum, dates largely from the mid-16th century. In 2009 another monument the Turning of the Bull (artist, Angela Hunter, Innerleithen, Scotland) was unveiled in Hawick. This monument depicts William Rule turning the wild bull as it was charging King Robert the Bruce, thus saving the king's life and beginning the Scottish Clan of Turnbull. A poem written by John Leyden commemorates this historical event. His arms robust the hardy hunter flung around his bending horns, and upward wrung, with writhing force his neck retorted round, and rolled the panting monster to the ground, crushed, with enormous strength, his bony skull; and courtiers hailed the man who turned the bull.
Companies such as Hawick Cashmere, Hawick Knitwear, Johnstons of Elgin, Lyle & Scott, Peter Scott, Pringle of Scotland, and Scott and Charters, all have had and in many cases still have manufacturing plants in Hawick, producing some of the most luxurious cashmere and merino wool knitwear in the world today. The first knitting machine was brought to Hawick in 1771 by John Hardie, building on an existing carpet manufacturing trade.
Hawick lies in the centre of the valley of the Teviot. The A7 Edinburgh to Carlisle road passes through the town, with main roads also leading to Berwick-upon-Tweed (the A698) and Newcastle upon Tyne (the A6088, which joins the A68 at the Carter Bar, 16 miles (26 km) south-east of Hawick). The town of lost its rail service in 1969, when as part of the Beeching Axe the 'Waverley Line' from Carlisle to Edinburgh via Hawick was closed. It was said to be the farthest large town from a railway station in the United Kingdom
Many Hawick residents speak the local dialect of Border Scots which is informally known as Teri Talk. It is similar (but not identical by any means) to the dialects spoken in surrounding towns, especially Jedburgh, Langholm and Selkirk. The Borders Abbeys Way passes through Hawick.

Mother-of-two, 54, says her £350,000 new-build home has 245 faults
A mother-of-two has condemned developers after her dream property turned into a nightmare with hundreds of 'snagging' issues in the £350,000 new-build home.Mother-of-two Carol Ritson, 54, had been excited to receive the keys to the four-bedroom detached property built by Persimmon in Keynsham, Somerset. But she was left devastated when she moved into the property in June to find it far from finished, with a team of tradesmen still working on the interior. Carol Ritson and her partner Chris Bickers outside their new home in Keynsham, SomersetShe commissioned a surveyor who identified 245 'defects' and found the house was 'heavily infected' with radon, a radioactive gas which can cause lung cancer. To add insult to injury Ms Ritson was offered just £250 in John Lewis vouchers as compensation when she complained about the home. Ms Ritson said: 'When we walked in they were still painting the walls and doing the skirting boards. There was a team of cleaners in there.'The mother, who lives with her partner Chris Bickers, their son, 25 and daughter, 19, said the family had to wait several hours before the team left and they could move in. We took a trip to Leicester to check out one of their many abandoned places.
I kept getting fed up of Kieran and Joe being pussies while filming the video so while they debate who goes walks in the places first, I just go through.
There was just so many dead pigeons and pigeon shit it was horrible.
Also Took all the oxygen out my shirt = I can't breathe
(Yes I know about the odd tooth while I was talking to the camera, no amount of brushing would remove the stain, I had to go the dentist for it)

Goblin Ha' - Scotland's Scariest Place?
Short Movie - SUBSCRIBE to my channel:

I heard about this crazy underground dungeon in the middle of some woods with a castle on top - near where I'm from in Edinburgh. Goblin Ha! I had to check it out. Its quick story is that Sir Hugo de Giffard, The Wizard of Yester, a necromancer of the 1100s, built the castle via a pact with the devil with an army of goblins. More about that here:

Rent Boys: Trailer
Since the 1960s, West Berlin's most important transportation center Bahnhof Zoo train station served a second, lesser-known function as a meeting place for hordes of male prostitutes from all over Eastern Europe. Now, filmmaker Rosa von Praunheim profiles the personal and historic impact of the hustler culture that emerged at Bahnhof Zoo by turning his lens on five grown men who spent their youths as rent hoys at the station. Each of the subjects stories reveals the expected obstacles abuse, drug addiction and poverty but the men also display a surprising tenderness and determination to move on. At the same time, each man must cope with the emotional and physical consequences of their past decisions.

Photography in the Scottish Borders
Finally, some free time to go on a little adventure and take some photographs. In this video I head to Grey Mare's Tail in the Scottish Borders. Faced with miserable weather and darkening skies, I opted to spend some time driving to various locations before returning to Grey Mare's Tale and investigating the waterfall.
