Chinese Huotong String Lion Dance| CCTV English
Many people have seen a Lion Dance on TV or in person. However, few people know about the String Lion Dance, which can be only seen in Huotong town, Ningde, south China's Fujian province. With a history dating back to more than 1,300 years, the string lion dance is a unique folk entertainment art form, as well as a special acrobatic performance featuring animal impersonations. The Huotong String Lion Dance is characterized by controlling the lion's various movements with strings. The show is a perfect combination of artistic and martial arts skills. Originally, the string lion dance was performed in street processions and later staged on fixed stages.

一個廉潔的地方 · 廉村 | An Incorrupt Place · Lian Village
廉村位于福建甯德福安市溪潭鎮，原名石矶津。因裏人薛令之是福建第一位進士(唐神龍二年、706年中進士)，且爲官清廉，被禦賜廉村、廉水、廉嶺之名。此後，廉村文化逐漸形成氛圍，在文化交流和村內詩書相承的家學淵源相互影響下，終成村內百年人才叠出的大觀。
從宋大觀三年到寶佑元年約150年間，廉村連續出現17位進士，平均每十年就有一人進士及第，尤其陳雄一門五進士，父子兄弟俱登高第，其榮耀顯赫，流芳一時。
典雅整齊的古官道、巍然屹立的古城牆、苔迹斑駁的古道碑、氣派莊嚴的祠堂，廉村的一磚一石一草一木都透出一股幽然、靜肅之氣。這個遠近馳名進士名村雖然在閩東山水裏低調地隱藏著，但這裏的一景一物，卻無不映照出這個古老村莊久遠歲月裏積澱的輝煌。
Lian Village is located in Xitan Town, Fu' an City, Ningde, Fujian Province, formerly known as Shijijin. Because the first Jinshi (a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations), Xue Lingzhi, came from here, and he was an incorrupt official, the village got its name, Lian Village, Lianshui, and Lian Ridge, which means an incorrupt place. Since then, the culture of Lian Village has gradually formed an atmosphere, and under the influence between cultural exchange and profound learning inherited by the family, there was a grand view of numbers of talents in this village.
From the third year of Song Dynasty to the first year of Baoyou, about 150 years, there was a continuous appearance of 17 Jinshi scholars in the village. On average, there was one Jinshi scholar every ten years, especially the family of Chen Xiong which has five scholars.
The elegant and tidy ancient official road, the towering ancient city wall, the mottled ancient road monument and the solemn ancestral temple… everything of Lian village shows a quiet atmosphere. This famous Jinshi village is hiding in the mountains and rivers of the east of Fujian, but the scenery there still reflects the glory of the ancient village.

Demonstration by a local Boxing teacher in Ningde prefecture's Gutian county.
The He Zhuang style originated during the reign of emperor Qianlong with the Lin family of Waibao village, Houtong Town, Jiaocheng district of Ningde prefecture in Fujian province.
According to the oral mythology of the Lin family, around 1754 Lin Mei, traveled to the port of Ningbo in Zhejiang province to conduct trade deals to import goods to northern Fujian.
While there he happened to meet a porter along the docks who was said to be skilled in martial arts. After talking to this man he learned that he was a senior Shaolin monk Named Shi Yuan who had fallen on hard times. Lin Mei asked him to teach him and took care of him paying him all respects. Moved by Lin's generosity to him he taught him all he knew of martial arts, herbal medicines, and treatment of traumatic injuries.
After 3 years of study with the porter Lin had to return home to Ningde.
Once he returned home he began teaching martial arts and medicine to his sons and other members of the Lin clan.
Soon the family became famous for their martial skills and students of the Lin family spread the practice of He Zhuang around Jiaocheng and from there across Ningde and neighboring areas such as parts of northern Fuzhou.
This style is still taught in various areas of Ningde, this example coming from Gutian county, and the style is still practiced in Houtong town by some members of the Lin family.

前童古鎮
童氏祖先設立的水利工程，不僅改善了農耕條件，也讓整座古鎮水流蜿蜒，更為靈動，而數百年前對於精緻文化的追求，則反映在依然美麗的鵝卵石街徑上。

支提寺在福建宁德县霍童村东南的支提山上。支提山绵亘25公里，海拔800多米，为宋开宝四年(971)吴越王钱俶创建。宋雍熙二年(985)赐名雍熙寺。现寺系明永乐五年(1407)重修，赐名华藏寺。山门有御赐匾额天下第一山。支提山曾与山西五台山、四川峨嵋山、浙江普陀山、安徽九华山并称佛教名山。 主要建筑物有大雄宝殿、天王殿、祖师殿、伽蓝祠、藏经阁、鼓楼、斋堂、山门等，规模宏敞，全盛时期住僧曾达千余人。佛界有不到支提枉为僧之语
Zhiti Temple in Fujian Ningde County huotong village southeast of Zhiti hill. Stretching 25 kilometers Zhiti mountain, altitude of 800 meters, built in 971. Zhiti Hill worked with Wutai Mountain in Shanxi, Sichuan Emei, Zhejiang Putuo Mountain, Jiuhua Mountain saying Buddhist mountains. You must be surprised to know that there is such a city in this world which is situated within the sea.
Even though you are surprised, but this is true. In Ningde salt city in Fujian province of China, the settlement of thousands of people floats inside the water. The name of this settlement is Tanka Basti, which is one of the world's most inhabited habitations. These settlements have settled in the entire sea. Tanka settlement is about 1300 years old, in which more than two thousand houses have remained above the boat. At least eight thousand people live in this settlement. Most of the people living in the township are fishermen. These people are called stitching. Tanks kill fish in the sea, and through it they live their lives.
All these people have made the floating house in their hands with their hands, and at the same time they have prepared large platforms from wood. There are community programs on these platforms, and kids play here too. Now, in your mind, the question might have been coming, why, finally, why do these people leave the land and stay in the water, so let us answer your question also.
In fact, all the fishermen settled here, having been disturbed by the rulers 1300 years ago, and since then, they are living here. In China 700 AD, the Tang Dynasty was ruled. The people of the Tanka community were angry with all the rulers there. Persistence was continuously increasing by the rulers, after which the people of the Sanga community had decided to stay in the sea. After that all of them built their own house on the sea in the sea, and started living there. These people were called 'Gypsies on the Sea'. Now the people of this caste sometimes come to the ground. The special thing is that the people here marry in water settlement only.

松下村塾 講義室 スライドショー
松下村塾（しょうかそんじゅく）は、江戸時代末期（幕末）に長州藩士の吉田松陰が講義した私塾である。長州萩城下の松本村（現在の山口県萩市）に、松陰の叔父である玉木文之進が1842年（天保13年）に設立し、松陰も学んでいる。
松下村塾は木造瓦葺き平屋建ての小舎で、当初からあった八畳の一室と、後に杉家の母屋を増築した十畳半の部分からなっている。
1842年（天保13年）に松陰の叔父、玉木文之進が自宅で私塾を開き、松下村塾と名付けた。
ついで松陰の外叔、久保五郎左衛門がその名を継承し、子弟の教育にあたった。
1857年（安政4年）に藩校明倫館の塾頭を務めた吉田松陰がこれを引き継ぎ、1858年（安政5年）に松陰が野山獄に再投獄され廃止された。
武士や町民など身分の隔てなく塾生を受け入れた。明倫館は士分と認められた者しか入学できず、町・農民はもちろん、武士に仕えながら卒（卒族）、軽輩と呼ばれた足軽・中間なども入学できなかったのと対照的であった。
短期間しか存続しなかったが、尊王攘夷を掲げて京都で活動した者や、明治維新で新政府に関わる人間を多く輩出した。塾生名簿は現存しないが、塾生は約50名ほどいた。著名な門下生には、尊王攘夷、倒幕の全国志士の総元締の役割を果たした久坂玄瑞、吉田稔麿、入江九一、寺島忠三郎、この人々の死んだ後を受けて藩論を倒幕にまとめ、征長の幕府軍を打ち破った高杉晋作がいた。高杉晋作、久坂玄瑞は、「識の高杉、才の久坂」と称され、「松下村塾の双璧」と呼ばれた。また、この2人に吉田稔麿を入れて松陰門下の三秀と言い、さらに入江九一を合わせて「松下村塾の四天王」と称された。
これら直門の高弟の衣鉢を継いで、末弟子の伊藤博文、山縣有朋、品川弥二郎、山田顕義、野村靖、松本鼎、岡部富太郎らが、明治政府の最高指導者を担った。他の門下生には、萩の乱を起こした前原一誠や飯田俊徳、渡辺蒿蔵（天野清三郎）、松浦松洞、増野徳民、有吉熊次郎、時山直八、駒井政五郎、中村精男、玉木彦助、飯田正伯、杉山松助、久保清太郎、生田良佐、宍戸璣（山県半蔵）らがいる。
桂小五郎（後の木戸孝允）は塾生ではないものの、明倫館時代の松陰に兵学の教えを受けている。井上馨はよく松下村塾の塾生と間違えられることが多いが、高杉・久坂らと関わりは深いものの松陰の教えを直接うけたことは無い。
講師には松蔭のほかに富永有隣がいる。
明治維新の後に復活し、1892年（明治25年）まで存続した。萩市の松陰神社の境内には、修復された当時の建物がある。
1922年（大正11年）10月12日、国の史跡に指定されている。管理団体は松陰神社である。
2009年（平成21年）1月5日に「九州・山口の近代化産業遺産群」の一つとして世界遺産暫定リストに追加掲載された。
